  1. Did anyone make it to Maryhill this year? http://www.maryhillfestivalofspeed.com/
  2. I glued one of my dog's old squeak toys to the tail of my board, it not only acts as a protective bumper but it also makes a funny noise.
  3. Andy - I always knew you would quit carving to become an extreme snowskater. Go big on your little skis! ;)
  4. That's a sweet ride. Like a wooden Skurfer. I'm actually thinking of buying a short surfboard blank and shaping my own. I just have to figure out how to lay the binding inserts into the foam.
  5. what is the point of a wakeboard if you're not jumping? What is the point of a snowboard if you're not jumping? What is the point of a skateboard if you're not jumping? If you have a deep V boat that produces a large wake you can rail turns up and down the wakes. Slalom water skis perform the best with a boat that produces very little wake. My point is, they used to make wakeboards that would carve. There are carving snowboards and skateboards (Loaded Vanguard for one). Maybe when I place my next order with Bruce I'll see if he'll build me one for snow and one for water.
  6. I'm using a 17 year old board because I can't find a newer board with any edge hold. Does anyone make a board that is not designed primarily for jumping?
  7. This would be a nice, less expensive option... http://www.loopnet.com/property/15211107/Canyon-Road/ We would have to buy some groomers though.
  8. Ski racers wore helmets for years before it became common among the recreational crowd. Car racers have worn helmets for years, I have decided to start a new safety movement and will be wearing a driving helmet from now on. In 20 years people will look back and say "I can't believe I used to drive without a helmet."
  9. Unfortunately, in situations like these we are usually too stunned to react properly. Ski patrol should have been called by your friends to remove this persons ticket. I constantly have to remind myself that the downhill skier has the right of way, no matter how erratic they are skiing or riding. I don't think that most people have ever read the skiers code. I've been slammed and seen people slammed by others who thought that they had the right of way because they were going faster (usually a male under the age of 25). After this happened to me last year I decided next time I'm going to make a loud primal noise and charge them like a rhino, helmet first. Good luck with your healing.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Oregon and Washington still part of the NW?
  11. I installed BTS a couple of months ago on my Deeluxe LeMans, ever since doing so my boots have become progressively louder. I tried putting Bomber Butter on the springs but it didn't help. I think the plastic of the boot may be rubbing together. I'm used to people looking at me funny, but this is getting ridiculous, does anybody have any suggestions? I was also wondering if anyone had wrecked on a tile floor yet due to the Fintec heels?

  14. I don't want to post his contact info here but there is a link to it on his website http://www.gerrylopezsurfboards.com. He used to have some pretty sweet looking carving boards for sale at one of the shops in Bend.
  15. There isn't enough coverage on the steeper slopes, however the groomers are good, especially Queens chair. They are also supposed to get some more coverage this weekend. I really don't want to damage my new board but I'm planning on riding it, I'm pretty confident there will be enough snow.
  16. that one made me actually laugh out loud. I can just imagine two people on the same board trying to synchronize their turns. "ready... lean left!...no! your other left!" ...Check the video section, I posted one a few months ago with 2 people on the same board, at the end of the video they ride it with 3.
  17. I'm in the process of adhering a snowskate to the seat of my pants for heelside turns. I haven't decided what to do for toeside, maybe lunch trays on each forearm.
  18. For anyone who is planning on going to Crystal next Monday, they have just announced $40 tickets for Mondays in February (excluding Prez Day). The only catch is you have to order your tickets online. Art - I figured everyone would meet in the lodge about 9AM, like last year. I'll be a little later due to daycare drop off, I'll also try to find my radio, whatever channel works for you.
  19. You can take bailing wire and wrap it around the lower part of the bail, then crimp it with pliers. It creates a sort of block so the bail doesn't fall all the way down. I have also taken a beer cap and used pliers to crimp it to the lower part of the bail (like a taco), if you do one on either side of the bail, even better. This is for TD1's and 2's when the springs wear out.
  20. Thanks Mike! I just bought our tickets, 4 for the price of 2, sweet deal. We'll probably only be there 3 days, so some lucky contestant might just win our extra tickets. I'm still breaking in my first Coiler, looking forward to making some turns with Bruce!
  21. I just checked the Bachelor site, it's $110 for a 2 of 3 day package and $162 for a 3 of 5 day. I still haven't figured out how to order online.
  22. Mike, I just booked a place in Sunriver for my wife and I. We'll be there days 1-3, now I just need to figure out how to convince her to ride instead of ski. She's never been on a carve specific board (other than a 158 BX) and thinks my 172 is way too long. Either way, I'll be bringing along too much gear.
  23. Hey Al, We're planning on Monday February 9th.
  24. Art and Galen, are you goint to make it to our little session at Crystal this year? Monday, February 9th. That's right I decided to stay home and see if the river hits my house this time. Maybe I should go move my grille.
  25. So all of the massive snowfall in the last 12 days is now floating past my house, along with some 50-70 foot trees. In retrospect, this was probably the wrong day to drop my car off at a shop in downtown Orting.
