  1. Way to go Al! I was going to make yesterday my final day at Crystal but 34 degrees and snowing sounded too close to Cascade Clear Flakes. I've never understood how Hood and Bachelor could stay open a month longer when the Seattle metro population is larger.
  2. Arctic Man, Alaska http://67.131.251.172/ http://www.explorefairbanks.com/maestro/listingfiles/images/fcvbbiz_95aabdb_lg.jpg
  3. I broke mine, stuffed the nose and went flying like a rotor. I heard my ankle snap in mid-air. I would advise taking your boot off ASAP. I waited for patrol to sled me down and by the time they tried to pull my boot off my foot had swollen to the size of a small melon. Have you ever tried to put a melon in a hardboot? Taking the boot off was more painful than the actual break.
  4. Crystal is known more for it's steeps than it's groomers, but it does have a few. Any groomer on the Queens chair is good, others are Green Valley (a little steeper), Lucky Shot (narrow at top, wide at the bottom) and Upper Ferks (steep). I was there Monday, good coverage, best grooming all season. The last couple of years everyone has connected at the base lodge, with the stragglers heading over to Queens. There will be no crowds, so bring the big plank.
  5. I installed BTS last season and ever since my boots have gotten progressively louder. It is to the point that people are turning around to see what the horrible noise is. I tried greasing the springs and then realized that the noise is coming from the plastic of the boot rubbing together. Is this normal? Any suggestions?
  6. Next season I'll be introducing my daughter to snowsports, so I need to learn to ski again. At 5' 8" and 180 lbs. and not having skied for 11 years I have no idea what kind, or size of skis to look for. I know that I will rarely be using poles and will be on the bunny hill most of the time with her on a harness, but I would like some planks versatile enough so I could make a few runs on my own (will probably be trading off bunny hill time with my wife). Does anyone have some suggestions?
  7. I'll be staying at The Sugarloaf Mt. Motel, $52 a night plus tax and continental breakfast. Unfortunately it will be one week after the event, got to do some work on the new house.
  8. Ski Only resorts: Taos, NM Alta, UT Deer Valley, UT Mad River Glenn, VT There are no SB only resorts.
  9. I once took someone's ski with me and told them they could pick it up at the ski patrol booth. Then I dropped it off with patrol and told them there would be an idiot coming to retrieve it.
  10. I measured 23.4, so the website is probably more accurate. It is a stiff and quick board, has about the same contact length as my 167 Salomon Fastback. There should be no problem running softies or hb's.
  11. 157 Oxygen Supercross, ridden about 10 days. $125 shipped.
  12. I was just throwing a date out there. Anyone have a problem with the 8th?
  13. Should we try for 3-1? I'll alert the media.

  15. We would have to get a pretty large group together to get any kind of discount. Unfortunately, Crystal is pretty tight and so far there are only 3 of us.
  16. He says Mt. Bachelor is his favorite mountain in the world, really. http://www.bendbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100205/SPORTS05/2050390/1041&nav_category=
  17. I thought that would get your attention, perverts. Anyway, Mike G. has suggested that we try to get a group of hardbooters together for a day of fun at C.M. this season. He has Mondays off but can get another weekday off with notice. My schedule is adjustable as well. Any suggestions from other locals on a particular day/date?
  18. I recently asked Bruce Varsava what he tuned his boards at, he said 90, good enough for me.
  19. Check the classifieds, will meet you at Crystal on a Teusday if you're up for the drive.
  20. It might be a little narrow at 19.5, but I have an F2 183 RS. Would be willing to let you try it out first.
  21. Mike T, Have you heard any inside info on Mt. B. offering a late season pass this year? I think last year they had one for $89 for the last month of ops.
  22. Oxygen Supercross 157 150.00 shipped F2 Respect 169 125.00 shipped
  23. I'm moving soon and don't want to pack these boards, will cover shipping costs.
  24. It looks like he's an announcer at the Olympics, do you think he'll cover the PGS?
