  1. Pics up; bindings not included! Stomp pad is included. Stickers easy to remove. Dead Sexy is our snowboard team here. =)
  2. I'll try to get some pics up tonight.
  3. I'm thinking I might want to unload my Donek Axis (Axess now?) 177. Blue topsheet; in good condition. The only caveat is the base has a little "wave" to it... I'll try to get some pics of it. I think perhaps the factory grind was a little awry. Never been re-ground though, I expect it'll come out nicely whenever that is done. It never bothered me enough to do anything about, and it's a great base regardless. Is $300 unreasonable? I just have this area of my quiver covered and just don't ride it anymore... and am looking for a slightly longer race board (my F2 is only a 172 - I think I should be riding longer). Damn fun board, especially when there's a little chop and such on the hill... just loves to blow through that stuff (whereas I get kicked around a lot more on my other boards). Edit: Just added some pics. You can see the "wavy" in the base shot. Regardless of that, still works great. Also a few nicks in the topsheet on the nose and one slice near the back (pictured) where some jerk ran it over in a lift line. The edges are in great shape, but there is a little rust on the tail - came like that to me and it never touches the snow anyway. Again, great board, but I just don't ride it anymore. A little too long for my tastes for an all-mountain board.

Cool. What's this place like? I forget the name of the place it's been in years past (but I did like it).
  5. Big Canuck (or anyone else) - if you've got an extra cable you can part with, I'm looking for a replacement. Looks like Bomber is out of stock and would be grateful for any help!
  6. Bueller.... Bueller? Emailed off to all the hardboot companies I could find online... no one seems to have 'em at this point. The inside cable I think I could replace with bike parts... but the stiff outside cable I'm not so sure on.
  7. My cable release on my Intec boots snapped a few days ago... I have a spare that's mostly working... but I need to find some new spares ASAP. I see the Bomber site says they are sold out. Does anyone know where the heck else I can find these? thanks!
  8. Dragon was the first to make an offer. You're welcome to it if he falls through, though.
  9. Ya, I can do that. Only caveat is I'm out of town this week; I can get it packed up next weekend and shipped out on Monday the 22nd. Good?
  10. Just trying to clear some space in my garage. This sucker is still available if anyone is interested. Make me an offer.
  11. Wow! Just got forwarded this thread and here to add a "Me too!". I was the MES a few times (sadly, not this year), and I gotta say Welch is one of my favorite hills. I do recall some old hag bitching at us for "ruining" the ski hill on year. The old farts (screw respect) I'm sure have more pull than a bunch of punk snowboarders. If I skiied like they did, I would hate it, too. I've slid into carve trenches before (before I knew what I was doing), and it does SUCK. Sad, though.
  12. $trider witnessed this, as did a bunch of people on the hill at the time. On Sunday, I was racing NASTAR. The course was set on the left side of a fairly wide (for the midwest) run. About halfway down the course, I saw a dark streak out of the corner of my eye. I wasn't quite sure what it was. About two gates ahead, I saw for sure that it was a squirrel streaking across the hill at top speed, headed right in front of me. He just kept coming. Just before the gate, I stood up so my board was flat, instead of turning around the gate. I went right over the little ****er, with the flat of my board. Had I not stood up, I could have sliced his head clean off. I saw him keep running after I went over him. As far as I know, he was fine. I think probably I'll go the rest of my life without that ever happening again. Anyone else ever had this experience!?
  13. Check out the package (first about :10 in) - I know it must be a skiier, but sure looks like a carver leaning over in some powder.
  14. Yeah, dunno why, but never had a problem with hitting my legs, so only really interested in upper body protection... arms, kidney (aka love handles).
  15. Yeah, I really have to find something... I ride with $trider, and 90+% of the time we're running skiier gates. I often will take my bulky jacket off (with horrible "air brake" pockets on them), but I find I've been getting better times with it on because I'm less afraid of falling and hitting gates. That medium Demon would fit the top half of my torso. =) My biggest pain with racing is my heelsides - when I skirt past the gate, my frickin love handle whacks the skiier pole sometimes. Holy crap, does that hurt. So I'm looking for any sort of race padding, skiier or otherwise... then I'll probably sew something extra in for my love handles. I just googled around a bit without much luck. Best place for a basic padded racing shirt?
  16. This up on Granite Peak in Wausau on Monday.
  17. I ride at Tyrol Basin; it's not a great hill, but it's convenient (only a few minutes from Madison). Definitely give me a shout if you're in the area! johnS
  18. Agreed on the Andesite recommendation. More consistent pitch, plenty steep, and more than long enough for my midwest legs (Elk Run is actually really long, and I never made it down without multiple rests). The groomers off Lone Mountain were in spots nice, but with too many flats, IMHO, for decent carving.
  19. I used to go through a pair a season, then a couple of years ago, I ponied up for these Kevlar babies: http://pmgear.com/product_info.php?cPath=32&products_id=44 They've been through at least 2 full seasons now with no significant signs of wear. The elastic bit on the forearm tore, but easy enough to fix (if I bother). The gloves themselves are still in great shape. Only annoyance was that the material likes to stick to itself, so fingers would stick as one and I'd have to pull them apart with the other hand. It's become less sticky over the years though. One big problem - they're out of stock! I sent them an email asking if they'd be back, but didn't hear. Hope they do, because I can't recommend these highly enough.
  20. Hey Chad - it was good riding with ya. We didn't get much carving in when we hooked up on Monday since there was so much powder. =) =) Conditions kicked ass through the week (Wed/Thurs I spent on the groomed stuff, though)... but Friday it sucked - the place was closed down except for the Swift Current lift due to wind hold. =( I just edited together a video of our trip... perhaps not of interest to most, but there are a couple of shots of carving (and crashing): http://johnstewart.com/blog/2007/02/22/big-sky-2007/ johnS
  21. Not sure what an Intec wedge is... but certainly I need to scrape the crap off before I can clip into my TD2s reliably...
  22. Closed, if you want to keep your mints dry. Works great. This is a problem with Intecs, too (this is what I have). I usually try cleaning it with my glove first, but when that doesn't work, the altoid can works great.
  23. I always have a can of these in my jacket pocket: I'm an addict anyway, and the can makes a great heel scraper. I religiously check my heel and binding while I'm on the lift to clear them off as necessary.
  24. How's the snow doing at Big Sky? I'll be there tomorrow afternoon, and in my packing I need to take the bindings off of one of my boards (so I'll be committing to riding the other one). My Axis 177 I don't care about rocks as much... however I'd like to give my Prior ATV 171 a try on a real hill (but I'm going to be uber-paranoid about base damage). If I stick to the in-bounds stuff, is it all covered well? thanks!!
