  1. Headed west in a few weeks; would like to take something out to take the place of my old freestyle board (just not stiff enough for any real carving). I've got an Axis for the non-powder days, but when there is snow, I'd like to find something that can float better than that (yet still carve).
  2. And here's a video of three attempts at it: http://johnstewart.com/video/Limbo-big.mov
  3. Cool... I just booked my flight! Getting in at 10am in Bozeman on Feb 11th; fly out on the 17th. I was there years ago, two weeks after I first learned to snowboard: http://johnstewart.com/video/BigSky_YardSales.avi But I've not been back yet, and certainly never ridden a carve board there, so I'd be curious as to recommendations for slopes for that. I'll certainly bring my freestyle board in case there is powder to be had, but I'll also probably bring my Axis as well (dunno about skis; I've not done that in years and suck badly).
  4. Three failed attempts at getting under the lowest limbo bar... Big version (1.6MB) http://johnstewart.com/video/Limbo-big.mov Small version (.5MB) http://johnstewart.com/video/Limbo-small.mov Sorry, no audio... I took these as a series of still shots and just put them together in QuickTime.
  5. I'd gladly trade with ya. Been in the 40's for weeks here; the local hill is still only 30% or so open. =(
  6. Alderman was talking earlier in the season about getting a WI/MN race together.
  7. I got some buddies headed to Big Sky in mid-Feb, and I think I can cash in some miles and crash on their floor. I've been one, two weeks after I learned to board. It still is the best week of skiiing I've ever had. Sounds like conditions are pretty good out there, huh?
  8. Aye; was a damn good day. Thanks again for organizing, Trent! My whole damn upper body aches like I got the crap kicked out of me... oh I guess I did (the limbo!) =)
  9. So should we just look out for the trenches, or is there a planned itinerary? I'm hoping we can get there by hill open time (9am?) thanks!
  10. So myself and 1-2 other guys were hoping to make it up there on Wednesday from the Madison area. I wanted to get a hotel room at the casino up the road (and maybe get a little gamble on) for Tuesday night. http://www.treasureislandcasino.com/accommodations/hotel.asp However, I just called and the only rooms they have left are multi-room jacuzzi suites for $160 As much as I'd like to get romantic with the hairy sons of bitches I'd be riding with, I'd prefer to have cheaper room costs. Are there any other out of towners that would be interested in sharing some floor space to knock down the per-person price on Tuesday night? Are there any other cheaper accomodations nearby I should check out (yet still close enough to the casino to get some table-time in on Tuesday night)? thanks!
  11. Just curious which you ordered. The "Dominator Graphite Zoom Thermoactive Wax"?
  12. So you mean the head of the bolt is seizing against the TD2 plate, and it's not the threads? Interesting; I hadn't considered that. thanks
  13. Trying to find the answer to the best way to mount my TD2 hardware. Flamey original thread here: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?t=12869 I am perhaps just tightening too much; when I release them it does seem like the metal is binding/seizing. Does anyone grease their threads? Do you just use them dry (and perhaps not crank as hard as I am)? I'm not enamoured with using loctite because I fiddle with them too much. johnS
  14. Aiiight... gonna start a new thread... flame away in this one. =)
  15. It is why I brought up using the bigger T hex driver (the one from Bomber, red handle). When I think about the horror that would be a front binding release from the board at the wrong time, and given the force then applied to my knee by my 220lbs or so of mass, and given the ease of applying more torque with the larger tool, it certainly *is* possible I'm cranking them too hard. =) I guess to those of you using that particular tool in relation to the typical small allen wrench, do you feel like you have to back off a little more on the torque than you would expect to prevent seizing/squeaking of your bolts in your bindings when released?
  16. Um, yeah, it has crossed my mind.
  17. Whoa. Lots of responses; thanks. I'm still confused, though. =) Not talking about Intec heels, no. What is "Primer"?? I'm speaking of the threads on the (4) bolts mounting the TD2 plates to the board, and the threads on the (3) bolts mounting the other TD2 assembly onto that. I've just found that (especially after upgrading to the big T hex driver) that when I'm releasing the bolts, they have a serious metal on metal squeak. Kinda seems like the metal might be welding itself together. I didn't use (blue) loctite because I move the bindings between boards, adjust angles, etc., a fair amount.... and I figure that is going to build up over time. Also, it would seem I would have to put a lot on to insure that all of the threads are lubricated, no? thanks!
  18. The bolts in my TD2s tend to stick quite a bit when I'm moving them between boards, etc. I've just been putting them in dry. I've seen recommendations in various threads I've found to use grease. Can anyone be more specific on a recommendation? Is WD40 good enough, or something more viscous? thanks!
  19. Holy crap, talk about bringing back the dead. The boots are gone folks. I actually have one pair of 26's left, but am trying to decide if I want to keep them for myself for spare parts. If I decide to part with them, I've already got a couple of folks in my inbox who called dibs. =) johnS
  20. Well, I don't really want either the 0 or the 3, but I'm willing to help you out... I'll trade you my 0 for your 3. Email me at john at johnstewart dot com.
  21. I have both 3 degree and 0 degree cant plates for TD2s. Am looking for a 6 degree to trade.
  22. I'm looking for another TD2 6 degree cant plate. I have both a 0 degree and 3 degree plate. I'd trade either one for the 6 degree plate.
