  1. Bump - anyone? Headed out of town for a week, so tomorrow is the last time I could ship for some time.

  4. FYI, definitely headed to Tyrol around 6pm. Just got my new Prior ATV and have to break 'er in. =)
  5. Ya, we were out last night, and aside from the near-fatal temperatures, the snow was in great shape. Twister, the run under the B lift, was excellent. The grooming this year has been somewhat sub-par - whoever they've got doing it doesn't do such a great job knocking down the ridges. I agree with $trider that the bar is better at Tyrol, and the elevation is not much different (ya, the top 1/3 of the hill at Cascade is too flat to be useful). However, Cascade is quite a bit wider, so more runs, and they do have a high-speed quad, which might be nice on a night like this since it means less time sitting on the lift. But Tuesdays $10 lift tix at Tyrol can't be beat. Usually that means a crowd on Tuesdays, but I'll bet it'll still be sparse tonight. I don't think I can make it out, but will post if it looks good. I got too much crap going on - dead cars to deal with and a trip to Big Sky to pack for.
  6. Thanks; sent you an email. Not a Costo member and have to take a shuttle to the hill, so no go there, but if we hook up one day, I'd be happy to use one of your coupons. =) No one had heard of any deal for a free/discounted ticket if you show them a boarding pass from that morning, have they?
  7. Thanks much, Recon! That's inches, right? I don't have it front of me because I'm sitting by the pool at the Biltmore in Miami right now. =) Weather kind of stinks, but apparently it's -5 in Madison right now =)
  8. mopoet - I don't know anything more than waist and length, sorry! Sidecut would just be a guess based on looking at it, so your guess is as good as mine.
  9. Will be there for 4.5 days of riding... so prolly not enough for any super deals I'm afraid...
  10. Flying in the morning of Feb 11th to Bozeman. Hope to get some turns in at Big Sky yet the same day. I've heard (second hand) that some resorts in CO will give you a free afternoon lift ticket if you show them a boarding pass from that morning. Is there anything like that at Big Sky? Otherwise, any recommendations on the best way to buy tickets? I'll only have the 12-16th for full days of skiiing, so looking for 4 + 1/2 lift tix (including the first half-day). thanks!
  11. I was probably just over 200lbs last time I rode this, but this was a few seasons ago and I really didn't know squat about how to carve. It does seem to be a little stiff for all mountain, yes. Sorry about the price doubling. I put 3 boards online last night, and I put the Factory Prime at $50, and meant to put this at $100. Make me an offer, though. It's in real good shape, though. THe FP has a ptex gouge. Either one a decent board.
  12. How much do I weigh? Isn't that a bit personal? =) No idea on shipping. I'm guessing something on the order of $30 to the continental US via USPS, but I've never actually sent a board before. Anyone know?
  13. I've no idea what the sidecut is. Doesn't say on the board, and I never turned anything up online in reference. Looks pretty close to the Factory Prime I had sitting next to it. The bindings are not included, but I'd do a package deal if you want both. I wanted to get $100 for the board and $50 for the bindings (burton stepins), but I'd do $125 for both.
  14. Strap bindings on it or make a coffee table out of this classic antique. Looks to me to be an actual stained wood finish. It's labeled "alp five point seven", so I'm guessing 157cm length. I made my first carve on this board, but dammit, it's got to go, despite my emotional attachment. What's it worth? I dunno. I paid $100 for it, but frankly, I got screwed. Make me an offer. Or should I pack it up and take it to Antiques Roadshow?
  15. Sims Carve II Overall: 167cm Waist: 21cm I can't say much about this board because I never rode it more than once or twice, and in the beginning of my carving career. I found a board I liked better just after I bought it. I'd hoped it was to be more of an all mountain board, but it's a little stiff for that. I think a decent enough beginner board. $100 or make me an offer
  16. Burton Factory Prime Overall: 167cm Running: 147cm Waist: 18cm Sidecut: 12.3m This guy has a recent base grind, so it's not in too bad shape. There is a long gouge in the middle, but I never noticed a slowdown (not anywhere near the edges anyway). Some minor rust towards the bottom, but would clean up nice. Not the stiffest board in the world, but an excellent beginner board. It's the board on which I really learned to carve. $75 plus shipping or make me an offer.
  17. I'll take it... if it's still available. johnS
  18. Burton Factory Prime Overall: 167cm Running: 147cm Waist: 18cm Sidecut: 12.3m This guy's been around the block. Had the base ground last season; it and the edges still in nice shape. There is a gouge in the middle of the base which could probably use some new ptex (but hey, you should be on the edges anyway, right?) Sims Carve II Overall: 167cm I don't know the other stats, but looks like a 21cm waist and I'm guessing a smaller sidecut radius. I bought it in mint condition years ago whilst trying to find a good do-it-all board. Never liked it; so it's been rarely ridden. Fairly stiff. Both would be decent learner boards. Much wider waist on the Sims, though, so you could start out with a less aggressive stance. I learned on this Burton, though. Once you get used to the high stance angles necessary (at least for my big feet), it really does want to carve naturally. Make me an offer.... johnwraynospam at gmail
  19. Thanks, Carp. I may take you up on that... but of course I'd prefer to be riding my own gear. Looks like Prior has a slightly funked up 167 with the quad glass - 15% stiffer, apparently. However, as mostly this is my pow/freeride board, I'm not sure I actually want stiffer
  20. Heh.... as far as I know, I have no kids. Methinks you're thinking of some other johnstewart!
  21. Bah; that's not what I wanted to hear... I'd hoped to pick something up within the next couple of weeks; the leadtime on custom boards has got to be more than that... =( thanks
  22. Well, I didn't feel like the Axis 177 did well at all in pow the one time I had it there. I think it's a great carver and love it on the groom to day-old pow with piles of soft stuff (it easy blows through crap my other boards would buck me on). However, I felt like I was always struggling to keep it planing above the powder. Do you set back your bindings significantly for such times?
  23. I don't need it much around here in the midwest, but for my occasional trips out west, I'd like to find a board which will handle any powder/bumps/tree skiiing, yet still be able to carve better than my floppy old freestyle board. I'm headed to Big Sky, and currently my quiver will be the aforementioned freestyle board (Sims Quest 167, I believe), and my Axis 177. I love the Axis in the groomers and in the choppy stuff. However, it sucked when I tried to ride it on a power day last year at Snowbird. I probably should have moved my bindings back, but I just couldn't keep that thing planing above the snow like my freestyle board does. So I'd like to find something that is much stiffer and a better carver than my freestyle board, yet can handle the powder well. I think the board I want is the Prior ATV. I'm 220lbs or so... would an ATV in the 167 length be adequate for the powder... or should I go 171? I think probably the 171... I think I've decided against the 4WD because it's much closer to the Axis, so it wouldn't complement my quiver too well... thanks for any advice!
