  1. Jerry, Ill be over from the 6th to the 13th or 14th, hope to see the tour while we are there. Need to set a day (or two as I usually get two kid free adult days to ride while there) aside for sure. Ill buy the beer. Jeff, do you care to kick my arse all over the mountain again?
  2. Its an Auditorium raise. I've done it on a 45' secured with ropes on the corners if you will. the object is to go up and over the top. pretty wild. I cant say I've seen or done it on a straight ladder. As far as Al's pic goes, I'm sending it to my Safety Chief for the monthly safety newsletter. One of the worst head injuries I saw was a guy putting siding on his house. He built 2 crib boxes (think looks like Lincoln Logs) out of scrap wood about 4' tall, put a 2x12 accross that and placed his extension ladders ontop of that. Unfortunately, as is discussed in another post, gravity always wins. He fell about 35' and landed on his back on the patio. He lived but I'm pretty sure he was in ICU for a month with extensive re-hab after that.
  3. Allright Jim, spill........musta been good

    Winter biking

I ride a Cyclocross bike in the winter with Kenda Kwik tires with a reflective strip, Avid BB7 Road mechanical disc brakes and I just added SKS clip on fenders. Its fun because I do a loop with some dirt trails/road for a little cross training. Good lights are a must too. Ill post a pic tomorrow. Invest in warm breathable clothes, I like my Sugoi pants and have a pearl Izumi jacket that could use some waterproofing.
  5. It looks like conditions are decent, again, watch the steeps but we are expecting more snow. Have fun
  6. Jim I have not been up yet but I hear they have decent cover on the runs but off piste is not a good idea. I would call it moderate cruising right now, so if you want to burn the fuel for a free day........ unless some one else has better intel I would say stay home unless we get hammered this weekend. Im out of the circuit for a while, just too busy. go to skicrystal.com for the goods
  7. Ill check the calendar, Im in for CM only tho, sounds like a good time, maybe show some new folks around,
  8. Prolly is. They had some footage from Mason county showing the Salmon over the road this morning. The only real flooding I saw yesterday was the rat that chewed through a PVC sprinkler pipe.
  9. 93 OR 94 I think. Maybe the next season. I think these were actually softer. just my thought
  10. Badbrad, if you were riding a Throttle with a wood core it may have acted differently. They were using wood cores on the 171 throttles after around 95/96 and the capped boards were a foam core that tended to soften up after time. I cant remember if this is still a foam core but if it has cap construction it probably is. Still a good board but I would go easy if you weigh more than 160 as you can fold the nose in the soft or variable terrain. Pretty good deal if you ask me. The older Throttle had the red top sheets, after this they were red/white/blue and then yellow when they quit making them. Dont remember the years exactly. Somebody around here will im sure
  11. Probably sit on the tails and slide down on my ass, or cut off some uppity snowboarder. I havent decided yet
  12. STill around if you feel the need for speed
  13. This morning a Buddy sent me a picture from his place in Crystal Village on the way to the mountain, about a foot and ahalf on his car, so I called him, he is on the chair and said they were getting face shots on Magoo. I hate him. And I actually ordered skis this year so Im going to mix it up some.

    Free computer

Al, down here in the south county they just find a cul-de-sac and dump it for someone else to clean up.
  15. Looks like the price went up today. Got a pair yesterday if for spares.
  16. There are those out there that swear by the Burton step in race plate (AKA Rat traps) but I will tell you a cautionary tale. If you flex your board they can/will release. No biggy if you are not traveling Mach Schnell ( I was lucky, below 5mph) but I would not trust them unbroken or otherwise. Also, when I upgraded to a better binding, my riding improved tenfold. I had the same board too. Save yourself some grief, save some pennies and buy some new binders. Sorry :(
  17. A good rule of thumb on angles is to avoid overhang. What I mean is set up your binding/boots so the toes and heels are over the edges. On my fcII I run somewhere around 55to 60 and when I had an Axis it was 50 to 55. Also I would establish a regular stance width 19.5 to 21.5 or so, I set up centered on the board just my .02
  18. Looks like a 94/95 throttle (pre cap construction). Must have been a pro deal as they were available on the pro form then (like an idiot I got the Emerys). Still some people around here loyal to the brand, and the TD1'S still sell here too. You might try a search in the classifieds to see what they have sold for and price accordingly. JMO (and I rode those boards) those make a better AM board when you look at the new race boards available but at the time that was top of the line off the shelf. I think you might get a better price here but you never know. Good luck.
  19. I will stop in for sure or try to set a day to ride we are there from like the 4th to the 14th, give or take a few days, gotta check the schedule. FWIW, I no longer sub to outside, after Mark Jenkins left they went sort of fluff an poser so I keep my money too.
  20. Also known as the dog crap collector. They also have a pair with the flask in the heel. Not the threadjack but Jerry, Ill be over in march when the tour is there.

    My First Race

Im no coach so a grain of salt is needed here: Stay relaxed, dont get psyched out before the first run. Try to relax in the starting gate, it can be intimidating looking at the course for the first time. As was said before, stay smooth and look ahead so you have time to set up the gates and react to conditions like ruts. Keep your hands off of the snow, you dont want to catch a gate or get turned wrong by having you hand pulled back. Turn early so you are set up for the next gate (if Im wrong, coaches chime in here) and most important is have fun. The hard boots will be fine im sure. Gotta let us know how it turns out!
  22. +2 Thats what I wanted to say before I got all mushy. And Michelle, please bring back the picture, I didnt really throw up, just jealous of that fine physique. I do miss the perspective of the race community. I would love to hear some stories and experiences from the tour and such, but it will never happen because people wont just sit back, read and learn.
  23. I think I just puked up some coffee through my nose. Bordy needs a wax.
