  1. I'm in. Emailed KRAM and Dane today, then booked my airfare tonight. It should be excellent carving fun with the Hawaiians and everyone else. --Hugh
  2. Colors are not that bad when they are on the snow...3 buckle boot with a velcro strap is a good combo for a softer hard boot setup. These are just like my first set of hard boots and I still see guys on the hill wearing them. Price is right, Hugh
  3. :AR15firin Hugh's triple gun salute Ladia can ride
  4. Erik pictured above is in the carving power position. His board has already flipped to the correct edge, his body is already angled (tilted) into the optimal centered position...when he comes out of that turn, his hip will already be pinched downhill as the uphill mountain smells his uphill armpit. As fast as that happens, he reaches the center fall line then he flips over to the other edge with the opposite hip pinched downhill. If any of us are reaching for the snow with the uphill arm, then your downhill hip is not pinched downhill...and staying in a fine line just became more difficult... --Hugh
  5. Double machine guns + evil mad, that I like! :AR15firin:angryfire Cell phone talking while driving is everywhere now, after the CA hands free while driving law passed (forgot to also ban texting in the original law ), people everywhere were cautious, but now everyone is blaa blaa and driving like idiots too. --Hugh
  6. Ouch! Broken legs are no fun, I broke mine in 4th or 5th grade...three distint memories 1). I laid in the school nursing office for 4 hours, then I waited at the hospital for another 4 hours...my broken leg was low priority that day 2) The line of 25-30 girls coming by to see me at home that weekend 3) 13 weeks in a cast (2 casts)...almost the entire summer Back to the ski crash details: dopes stopping/standing in the center of the run. Snowboarder looking at his target. Ski or board midweek, ride faster than the dopes behind you. Stop over at the edge of the runs, wear body armor and a helmet. Carry your insurance card, ride with friends, encourage others to do the same
  7. Brother Bryan, Email me direct your address, so I can send you a few recovery gifts from Santa Cruz . For me this week, the OR carving Gods (Don and Etsu) gave Ron, Jim and I some carving lessons at Kirkwood (Thurs) and I had a huge breakthrough . Learning to pinch my hip BEFORE the turn and at the same time that I roll over of my board, I was struggling with pinching my hip after the turn which only put me in the exact opposite position that I needed to be. My breakthrough was made possible by taking two back to back group lessons along with some one on one chair lift discussions with Don. Double dipping is always a good thing! To next year Hugh p.s. And I changed my signature from "most of the time" to "all of the time"
  8. No worries, I bought new skiis! -out April Fun...
  9. Bobby Buggs goes Bugs Bunny? Enjoy the dark side my friend... My problem with riding a soft setup after hardbooting for so many years is that all I want to do is CARVE! Carving a toe side in soft boots feels like surfing a huge wave, but I can't carve a heal side without skidding and that sucks because my hardboot heal side is locked on. Bye bye heal side... Tricks are for kids: keep it close to the ground and you won't need time to heal. Duck stance is for people without direction, if you keep the angles low you can still go both ways when you want to, but still ride your forward preference. Soft boots are way comfy , Hugh (this could have been a good joke if you waited a couple of more days )
  10. Hey KRAM, What up my friend? --Hugh
  11. Hey Gus, Mt. Rose, Squaw Valley, Northstar are all located on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. Kirkwood, Heavenly and Sierra are located on the South Shore. Party in April!
  12. Mark and friends, Carve a turn or two for me tomorrow. Gotta work tomorrow I talked to Dane today about a Kirkwood campout/carve fest in April. Dates are still be finalized along with the details, but Rick and I are talking about camping in the Kirkwood parking lot (near Chair 7) in my Six-Pac camper (91' F-250 diesel with new tires). Talk soon, Hugh
  13. Fanman and Jim Farr separated at birth
  14. Fanman is taking this baby for a test drive Evgeniy is next in line to buy if Fanman doesn't add it to his quiver. --Hugh
