Bad Gastein PSL 2019 - carve vs slide-lock

Haven't had a chance to watch the whole thing yet but I thought the race between Lukas Mathies and @nevingalmarini at 6:30 showed an interesting comparison of two different styles.  To my eye Nevin takes a more direct line with more slide-lock turns and Lukas takes a rounder, carved line.  They look pretty even until Nevin goes off course.  Benjamin Karl makes a strong case for slide-lock vs carvey Aaron March at 11:14.

  • Jack M changed the title to Bad Gastein PSL 2019 - carve vs slide-lock

Any slalom course puts real pressure on riders to make enough of a turn in time. Jumped and tail slid turns buy the rider fractions of a second and space to not be late at the gate.

I find the contrasting of the styles Jack alludes to more intriguing in a GS course.
