lonbordin
Everyone should get a new helmet whenever their helmet is damaged or ancient.
ti_knee
There's lots of new information emerging about the role of Tau proteins in concussion, intellectual disability, and diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's (tauopathies). It's worth a search and a quick read. Basically they are proteins that normally serve to prop up the structure of neurons. When they are knocked lose, they can clump together and kind of rattle around breaking off brain tissue. It's scarier thinking about this on a micro-level vs just the whole brain bumping around (bruised brain).
lowrider
I wonder if it is possible that vibration as well as shock could cause this seperation
ti_knee
In my neuroscience class, the prof said it was twisting movements that were the most damaging. Vibration is an interesting question though.
