orser506
Hey Jack , your link to your pic is not working. I almost took my family to sugarloaf for Xmas, the only reason we didn't go was we couldn't rent a place that accepted pets. Guess i lucked out. I finally got 2 days on snow , not in a row , and not full days. Somewhere a couple years back , i heard / read that within 20 years, give or take , there will be very few ski resorts left. Kinda thought it was hogwash then but .... Were supposed to get scattered flurries Saturday,

ExcelsiorTheFathead
Big Sky has a new campaign to poach frustrated Coloradans. I'm new to the area here in Summit County, but carving on the groomers here is at least tolerable, sometimes outstanding.

ExcelsiorTheFathead
The local paper's website pulled the story just minutes ago, but I found the press release on Big Sky's site. I fixed the link in my post above. (The sudden disappearance of the news article is mysterious and guessing at the cause is worthy of wild speculation.) ExcelsiorTheFathead
(http://mtashland.com/News.asp?NewsID=278) Mt. Ashland temporarily closes until more snow arrives <table cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" width="100" align="RIGHT"><tbody><tr><td align="CENTER"> <table border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" width="204" align="RIGHT"> <tbody><tr><td valign="TOP" align="CENTER"> <table border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td align="CENTER">Cruising on Comer 12-24 </td></tr></tbody></table> </td></tr></tbody></table> </td></tr></tbody></table>Mt. Ashland is temporarily closing until the ski area receives enough snow to be able to reopen the ski slopes. Only four inches of snow fell at the ski area during an unusually warm and dry December that affected the entire western region of the U.S. Mt. Ashland opened on December 16, 2011 with a snow base ranging from 22 to 32 inches of compacted snow. Cold temperatures in the early part of the month preserved the snow and allowed the ski areas grooming machines to reposition snow on the main ski runs. The weather turned warmer several days after Christmas and the ski area received some intermittent rain showers that depleted the once solid snow pack. “Our crews did an outstanding job making the ski area available and enjoyable,” said the ski area’s general manager, Kim Clark. “We received many appreciative comments from our guests, and it demonstrates that we can provide a lot of winter recreation with minimal snow. Our grooming team was fantastic and our entire mountain staff did a great job. The ski area will reopen just as soon as sufficient snowfall arrives on the mountain. The ski area’s business office will be open midweek with the exception of Tuesdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Once the ski area reopens, it will begin its regular in-season schedule of Thursday-Monday, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Skiers and snowboarders are encouraged to keep up to date by visiting the ski area’s website at www.mtashland.com or by calling the area’s snow phone at 541 482-2754. CarvingScooby
We are very lucky that JJA (Eagle Chair - Black Mt; Upper Pix) run almost always carving condition, mixed MMP and fresh. Might not last till noon but at least you've got 2-3 hours enjoying time but when freezing level drop like that day - stayed for 5 hrs and 4 hrs next day. Bottom Pix: Mt. Strachan covered nicely but some steep slope need a few more dump. RT
