Odd Job
Anyone know the best place to get a base grind around NYC or Western NY? (Reposting here instead of local area as more people seem to visit this part of the forum by far).
queequeg
Anyone know the best place to get a base grind around NYC or Western NY?(Reposting here instead of local area as more people seem to visit this part of the forum by far). I cant speak for western NY, but I wouldn't let anyone in a shop around here touch any of my boards. If you get up to VT, I'd recommend Sean at Equipe (in the stratton base area). lafcadio
Check out Mike de Santis in Framingham, MA: http://www.skimd.com/ He does mail order, too. I can't recommend Mike highly enough. You'll note he has a special package for alpine carving/race boards.
jp1
I agree with queequeg. Sean @ Equipe does very good work, and Equipe supports ECES ..
dingbat
Bottom line is whenever this question comes up, the two names above are the answer.
eastcoasticerider
I have had good base grinds locally and a couple of nightmares. I only take rockboards to the local butcher shop when they put the discount coupon in the paper. Its too bad they cant learn how to operate the equipment. M.Nash
Also could check out the starthaus in Truckee, Ca. I know it's not close, But they do a fair a mount of boards.
lowrider
Only base grind i ever need is the one done at the Coiler shop comes free with every new board. The other time they seem to appear is just before someone wants to unload their rock board and pretend it's mint.
