It's nearly happened to me that I would have been blindsided while riding some single track in a state park close to my house. We often see them in Fish Creek, where they're so used to bikers they'll let you get within a couple of feet before they slowly move off. I chased one down switchbacks at Fernie this summer, he was most annoyed that I kept changing direction! Last summer I was riding with a friend who started a moose right off the edge of the trail, and scared herself silly. Luckily it decided to run away through the trees instead of across her line, which could have been carnage. Like another friend who T-boned a bear at Whistler in June - to which patrol said "yeah, that happens every once in a while ..."!!! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

skatha Posted November 4, 2011 Report Share Posted November 4, 2011 We've lost anywhere from 10-20% of the loblolly pines trees in the neighborhood this summer. Many people are having them removed.
