Hello one and all ! I just bought a set of TD3 bindings so am new to the community. I also have some new boots on the way as well as a board from a friend. The board is a few years old and barely used. I can't wait to get all the items next week and start to set it up.

... I'll also add that I went boarding for the first time last weekend and got hooked and 2 days later bought the items below. My birthday is also Friday so what better time to pick up a new sport. Junkie? Insane? Yes and yes. I anticipate lots of fun and thrills but also a steep learning curve while I get up to speed with everything. Thanks in advance for everyone's help and support from the forum.

Ha, thanks. I'll reply for the rest of the forum but you, Helmut, aren't allowed to see it since you are from Cleveland. <smirk> Seven Springs is close but I haven't been there (Peek 'n Peak is a little farther away and a host of other ones too). Like I said, I ONLY started doing this on Sunday and then bought stuff the next day or two after a ton of research.

I know I could have/should have started with more of a Beginner setup but what's the fun in that? I didn't like the time and effort it took to strap into the soft boot bindings after I saw a video with someone using the step-in style and fell in love with it. I'm an Engineer at heart so I knew that was what I would eventually want and just decided to take the plunge. (Also, if I decide to sell it then it is new enough that it still has some value.)

So one more week at the local county park hitting the slopes on rented equipment and all 3 items arrives on Tuesday from 3 different parts of the States -- good timing.</smirk>

Glad to see this is the forum setup that I'm used to with all the ribbing and joking and jesting and also some actual support and constructive comments thrown in. I can't wait. It just stinks that I'm getting interested in this at almost the end of our season for here. My friend who sold me his board is from Montana and he keeps telling me how nice it is out there. Maybe one of these seasons I will get out his way (Bridger, Big Sky, etc.).

DEAL ! <spitting in hand and jutting it forward for a handshake>

My friend and I are heading out this weekend to the local venue again and are definitely not ready for anything even remotely close to the local resort places. I'll let you know when we are though - thanks for the offer.

Sometimes it might be best just to dive right in. Though I've only boarded once (never even downhill skiied before), I think I will catch on quickly and don't care for the people sitting in the middle of or walking up the middle of the Beginner/Bunny slope. That makes it hard to practice and not worry about falling on people talking on their cell phone. Argh.

I just don't want to be 'that guy' who is falling all over the place in a trail where others are trying to ski or board so I wanted to get at least a little more practice before hitting a bigger place.

Welcome to Bomber! Carving has a steep but very rewarding learning curve. There's lots of good info here even if there are some heated debates.

I saw a video with someone using the step-in style and fell in love with it.

Just noticed that you're talking about step-in bindings and AT boots. Step-in heels (like these) won't fit on AT boots. Hopefully you ordered the standard TD3 bindings!

Good catch and yes I did order the right setup (AT boots and TD3 standard bindings -- I'll clarify that in my signature). It was a video on "How to snowboard" and the students were in soft boots and bindings and that is what I first used and rented but taking them on/off took me about a minute each time - what a pain. In the video I saw the instructor using either step-in or standard 'bail' bindings and knew that is what I really, truly wanted.

Is it nice in Montana? yep.... but for this year, if you want more snow, stay in PA!!! We are majorly behind in snowfall (at least near Missoula where I am). It will probably make for a smoky summer fire season!

I moved from PA (born and grew up in Harrisburg, school at Penn State, then lived in the Ponocos) almost 8 years ago for more snow and bigger mountains. Well, yes, the mountains are bigger here, but I don't know about more snow ... at least for this season!

WE ARE !!!! (that was for you kinpa)

True we are over the snowfall average for here but it would also be fun to go more than 2,000 ft on a run with more than 300 ft elevation drop <grin>. I went to Penn State in Erie which got plenty of snow so I'll have to make up for lost time.

Here is a short video of some folks who took advantage of the snowfall in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago,

just curious, flashby, are you on a automotive forum, as well?

Doh, I've been called out. Well it depends which list. Team 3/S or 3Si from my previous car ('95 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4) or GreenHybrid or another from my current car ('06 Honda Civic Hybrid). Any of those?

Since it is my birthday today, I got emails from all the forums I'm on. I noticed I am Flashby on the AcuraZine forum but it could also be the VW Owners Club, Honda Civic forum, 8th Gen Honda Civic forum, Palm Treo forum, CleanMPG forum ... it might be me - who knows.

I just bought a set of TD3 bindings so am new to the community. I also have some new boots on the way as well as a board from a friend. I can't wait to get all the items next week and start to set it up.

Well the Garmont Shaman AT boots arrived yesterday, TD3 Standard bindings and Oxygen XE-60 board arrived today, with a pair of Garmont Mega-Ride boots are now arriving tomorrow. These TD3 things are just works of beauty and they weren't even out of the packaging yet. Nice.

Anyway, once seeing the Garmont Shaman boots in the flesh yesterday I was worried about the interface between the front toe and the toe clip on the binding. Also, they were a bit snug for their size so I ended up exchanging them for the Garmont Mega-Ride boots one size larger. I saw pics on here of the Mega-Ride boot in TD2 bindings which eased my mind about the front toe fit to the toe clip with the Mega-Ride.

I got home today to see the board and bindings on the porch and got to setting them up. I'd been reading and reviewing and researching tips and setup knowledge over the past week but it was still a little daunting at first trying to get the right binding angle then cant disc angle, etc. I loved every minute of it. I got everything setup, stepped in, and UGH ... I had accidentally ordered the wrong cant disc (I somehow ordered the 0-degree disc for front instead of the 3-degree disc). Shucks. I quickly ordered a 3-degree disc from Bomber and will exchange this one unless someone is looking for one at the moment.

So now I'm 90% ready for the first real test fit outside which will start the cycle all over again with angles and tilt and cant once it is in the real world environment. I can't wait for the weekend.
