Is it winter time yet?

I am anxiously awaiting the upcoming season now that my daughter has been bitten by the winter sports bug...albeit on skis at the moment, but she got 5 solid days in last season, with top to bottom runs and some blue squares by the 4th day! And she keeps asking, when can we go again???

I'll leave it at that, and let you guys debate:

1. Where it is winter.

2. Where there is snow.

3. When the season will start where you live.

Still some snow in NH to feed your addiction. I was up in Tux 3 weeks ago. This guy hit it just the other day for some July turns.

Look for something similar from me again, after the end of August this year..

Paul. The photos will likely return when they make repairs to the BOL website. Currently all "Attached" photos are absent.

No doubt about it. It's winter here in New Zealand. Was up carving at Turoa on Mt Ruapehu just over a week ago. Still early season here with snow base still rising. Even saw a couple of other carving boards in use amongst all the jibbers and skiers.

Arrive in Queenstown on 8/30.....Do you think there will be room for another carver on the hills?

Hi Paul K,

NZ Winter Games will have just ended as you arrive.

http://www.wintergamesnz.com/programme.php

Should be a bit of space. Plenty of Aussies across this winter cause of the good snow and the recession keeping them closer to home.

Check out the websites for the local field's conditions / webcams etc. Remarkables website is on the same site as Coronet.

I'll have been on Cardrona, TC and Coronet the week before the Games start.

Have a great trip! Remember that carving is not big in NZ so spares will be hard/impossible to come by.

Winter starts in 13 more days!!!!

And what a joy to be sharing it with three other Hardbooters,

one on skis and the other two on boards!

There will be pictures. :)

At our shop, when the season ended it was abrupt. Suddenly everyone needed a bike tune or a new bike or kayak.

The last few days we've seen the opposite swing. I'm shipping more skis and snowboards than summer gear. It's amazing (and gratifying!). People get in that mindset and they know there are terrific deals out there on closeout gear.

Hurry up snow!!!!

I put my boards outside in the 30C heat on the weekend to sunbathe. Now I have just over a month before I head to NZ, and suddenly discover I'm out of mid temp wax and my scraper has disappeared - where the hell am I going to find this stuff in the middle of summer? Thank god for online shopping!

I still have to figure out how my TD3's work and re-form my boot liners... pull my jacket and outergear out from storage ... find my boardbag ... replace my binding screws ... and locate that spare Intec cable ... I thought I still had months to do all this stuff ...
