Ducatis, Art and Fly fishing

Thought you guys might want to check this out. This is a friend of mine who races around on her Duc splattering bugs into wet canvases on the front of her bike and sells them to the fly fishing crowd. Pretty unique to say the least. I think I like her more conventional paintings the best. Like this one.

I can see her obsession with trout and fly fishing gear.....we have steelhead trout (lake run rainbows) around here in the streams all winter and this year I had a hard time figuring whether to go cast for steelhead or go snowboarding....all depends on the snow conditions....hooking a 5 or 6 pounder is a real rush on lite tackle.........:biggthump

I just got into the steelheading this season when an old buddy loaned me all his secondhand gear.neoprene chest waders, expensive st.croix 10'6" noodlerod and a decent reel that doesnt birdsnest the line going out. i went on ebay and got a xxl Hodgman vest with tons of pockets...basically you take evrything but the ki=tchen sink and hike in till you find a pod in a hole or riffles. eggsacs in differrent colors got me started..then you graduate to mini-foo jigs & maggots and. or live emerald shiner minnows all drift fished below a bobber and piece of small splitshot.......its a rush....:D

Nice! Now you need to graduate to fly fishing ;)

I must say that I never go after winter run steelhead. When the options are freezing my butt in the river vs. ripping the cord or pow, the choice is easy.

Summer run steelhead I don't target specifically, but sometimes I get them as byproduct of the search for red chinook. Our rivers have huge salmon runs, even if you wanted steelhead you would hook into chinook or sockeye before you found steelies.

Spring is the trout time, I can hear my 4 and 6 weights calling from the closet :)

Wow!.....I would love to live there but with two kids in college, I,m just glad to be able to go fishing for big game fish cheap. I may make it to whistler though.I have a brother near Bend (sisters) that just bought a timeshare in Whistler Blackcomb....the snow quality here is nothing to brag about believe me...its like ride ice or stay home!......west is the best no doubt....I,m just glad to have a job in this rust belt town.......:D
