    Madd update

Hey John, I'd like to know what's the status with your injury and how you're healing so far. I know you got fubar, but sorta forgot what kind of injury it was and how you got it. My broken tibula is healing ratherly nicely plus just got a couple of orders in from the race equipments plus a hold-up finance-sorting to get some of those bomber stuffs. (Kudos to Fin and Michelle for putting up with my money dough mess) I look forward to start racing, and as for you NASTAR posters, many thanks for posting your feedbacks/comments. Off to Albuquerque Horse Race State Fair I go to. Gotta work and make ends meet, u know? Madd ain't that cheap, either alongside Bomber bindings and race equipments. I know for one that Im not complaining about the delay with Madd snowboard manufacturing since I am experienced with working in the snowboard industry (Lib Tech/Supernatural). Things doesn't always go the way they're supposed to or planned to. So either put up with it or chill out and smoke. The money for racing equipment's gotta go somewhere. Compulsive buyer? Nah. Compulsive gate bashing wanna-be olympian? Yep.
  5. haha CF-series waxes ? Im also happy to know I'm to have my Madd 158 at end of the month. Wooie!
  6. welcome back, dragonfly. You raced motorcycles, you mean?
  7. Amen to that! Can see snow on Buffalo Mountain. Im sure Fin will confirm that too. Can see it from my balcony. My girlfriend and I had to add two more blanket to stay warm overnight. Plus two cats snugglin' in to keep us toasted. :)
  8. Could anyone tell me about racing on those kind of gates instead of triangular gates ? As well as the systematic of racing ont he course? I know you do nastar, patmoore (saw you over there at their forum). Its kinda like going back in time for racing like old days, but I admit that Im spending quite a lot of money on the equipment, and ill have to make-do with nastar for this coming winter to maintain my training. I want to be able to do well and use that to apply to USASA racing. I just simply cannot afford Team Summit or Ski Club Vail training program as of right now. Next year for sure or two years.
  9. Yes, I know. That's on my to-buy list. Im waiting for the UPZ to get here and then go to bomber in person and work out the kinks.
  10. With some difficulty encountered with the "searching up" the old archives of an old forum, I'd like to know some kind of modificiations you have done to make 'em a slightly stiffer for skiing. Somebody mentioned in the old forum that they used some certain kind of screw since the "default" dial to tighten up the boot laterally was relatively weak (I assume this based on old UPS boots of late 90s models). Im hoping that wouldn't be the case.
  11. Anyone care to post their experience with them for skiing? I need some references, as well as I'm trying to get a hold of the old forum to look up past references to 'em and skiing. Just ordered them as of yesterday, after two years delay. YAY!
  12. This is cool to see Jason Ford posting this. Dont think you'd remember Bill Loftus, the deaf guy who hangs out at the Burton factory in the old days in Vermont. Went with him to the factory one day and saw you sitting and lurking and we had eye contact. I kinda freaked out knowing who you are. Now a decade later, Im -still- freakin' out seeing you post here. Keep rocking. And yes, I know you were former hardboot racer. Say, Im curious if Craig Kelly ever raced in hardboots ? I know he did with softboots. Figure you'd know. Andy Coghlan, what's up with the mad dog these days? Heard of an insane story of him before one day of racing (partying so hard, and he forgot he had a race, and went racing without helmets, gloves, goggles, and won).

    210

hey shaggy. think you'd sell me those madd for 250 per piece? -smirk- Saw 'em next to the 210
  14. Im startin' to get the drift now. As for riding in his trenches, no you wouldn't--nothing like tearing up perfectly groomed courdrary lines. :)
  15. Im impressed. Im familiar with John Howe's Skiing Mechanics. Of course, Ill admit Im still struggin' with the concept of all those mathematic formulaes. Kudos to you, Jack for the info. I wanna verify if I understand you correctly: as I carve on, say, 8 m sidecut radius of the board-- itll be slower had I carve to 8 m ? I apologize if I appear confused and dumb. I perfectly understand kinetically, but mathematically, Im very interested to understand the concept behind it. The article's a bit too much (akin to John Howe's book, I may add) for me to grasp the concept. More questions at the bottom of your post, Jack. -SO- if I was going 30 mph, only a small portion of 8m effective edge would be carving (which is the impression Im getting with "thinnish track") ? How is this an exception for those Madd 158 ? I need to dig out those old TW snowboard magazines (early 90s) and re-read those articles about the sidecut radius (which is where I got the idea since then--smaller radii, rapid response).
  16. Looks like we got something in common: Madd 158 (as well as 170) Rossi WC 184 Lib Tech Emma Peel 157/159
  17. Interesting. I've always stuck to Emma Peel of Lib Tech exclusivly for this reason-- 8 sidecut radius. I like it when its responsive. I had MLY 159 for some time, and it had longer side cut radius (9 to 10, I believe) and it was a bit too slow for my taste in responding to carving. Then I switch back to Emma Peel after a year on MLY and went pipe-riding, and quickly forgot how senstitive it was. I've considered talking with Mervin to get a customized Emma Peel in race board structure, and now you're claiming shorter sidecut radius can be slower than longer sidecut radius, Jack? I understand the mathematic applications, but yet its a bit beyond my cro-magnum netherdal brain. Oh yea, that's for 157 to 159. The Madd 158's got 8.8 sidecut radius. Yet, it's technically better than Emma Peel (of coruse, logically since its a freestyle/freeride board as oppose to race board) ? By the way, Im into 157 to 159 mostly for all round riding, and am looking for multi-purpose race board, like Madd 158 -drool-. Of course, I'd like to be good in SL and GS as well. Im hoping Madd 158 will be suitable for GS (tho I dont think I like the notion of it being squirrely when Im hangin' on tight blasting mach 3) as well ?
  18. madd 158'd kill 'em snow rut and all.
  19. how about Madd 158 ? :D
  20. Ok, my advice is to just get on it and ride it to figure it out. It's not squirrely as the Madd's 158. That's for my 185 yellow board as oldsnowboardschool.com's photo.
  21. what color is it? if any, what's the year model of 'em ? Got will garrow-customized ultra stiff rossignol 185. it's a bit scary, since I broke my leg on that board.
  22. Something to do with European UPS service parcel havin' objection to boots company named UPS. You can bet Im ordering those right now. Been 2 years I've -MISSED- orderin' 'em due to "not in stock" and "insufficent" funds.
  23. Hmm, I feel for this guy. However, I need to point out in a snowboard park/halfpipe design class Ive taken with NSAA. Statistics show that the injury rate is higher in beginner's park than it is in the expert park.
