  1. how many of you have -actually- used Madd 158 for both racing? even better, may i read your experiences with 'em, and how they par with world cup racers? Considering doing Nastar training/racing with my madd 158. Comments? (plus im under an impression Nastar's having those triangular gates for both skiing and snowboarding -- from the looks on Nastar's homepage) Thanks in advance
  2. That reminds me. Does Madd 158 even come close to Tomahawk/F2 Speedster as in par for Slalom racing?
  3. a bit trivial post: found out the bubbles from the lift of vista bahn lift (chair #16) of Vail has been bought out by Aleyska. I'd call that a smart buy. Very very useful over there in terms of functionality than it is over here (i.e. smoking pot (hence rasta bahn), making out, and what not).
  4. Get well soon, you percoset-saturated racer!!!! Really! Lee
  5. 4: ask that to mike olson of Mervin MFG. In my heart, Ill always see him as a surfer/carver. Endangered's not a word i'd pick. Rare's the word I'd pick. 5: lack of the marketing and companies shying away from carving equipments.
  6. question 1: that's like asking a motorcycle road racer, Loris Caprirossi: Why race to 200 mph? question 2: Yes, there are days I feel limited. Not a very good idea to get 'em in a halfpipe, tho ive seen insane alpinist boarder ride the pipe, i.e. Damien Sanders. question 3: there was an article covered in S.A.M. (Ski Area Management) with a propostition with a dedicated carving park, as in versus terrain park. i.e. consistent grooming, and some sort of qualification to be able to ride in the carving park. Ive yet to see it happening in a while. However, from a Ski Resort perspective, I'd bet you my right nut they'd agree with the cost of maintenance of carving park would be far lower cost than terrain park.
  7. wow, it's been a -LONG- time since I've seen that name. He's still running rec.skiing.snowboard newsgroup ?
  8. well, he wouldn't care too much for being compenstated or acknowledged for his contributions. Why? He's too busy having -fun-! I speak from experience from hanging out with Mike Olson on several occassion during my employement at Mervin MFG.

  10. Hmm. Im gonna go to home depot and find some kind of screws with sandpapers and attach 'em to the tail part. (yes im serious.)
  11. -chuckle- I usually just yank the board back to nick their bindings/boots with the corner of the tail. of course, with obvious intentions. Once it happens, I'm tolerant. 2nd time, I'm not too tolerant. Why should I put up with it when I paid 750 bucks for 'em ?
  12. Great. You're the man, Jack. Is there any way to make this post my "sticky" post so it'd always be on the top every time Im on the forum ?
  13. got an idiot friend of mine who constantly go ski alone at east vail. he said he saw an avy that took all the snow allt he way to the bottom of the ground (i.e. dirt and tree bases). I do know that Ill say "you dumb f**k" at his wake if he gets killed by an avy. as for utah, man, my condolences to those 17 (supposedly?) missing skiiers/boarders. overheard my professor at CMC talking about the insane avy at Utah this afternoon. And here it is at msn.com as well as bomberonline.
  14. dunno if michelle of bomber qualifies as one, but she fitted my boots and im happy. :p
  15. photo of a madd bx pretty please ?
  16. as a former liftie, i've seen lifts stopping abruptly and yanking the chair back and fro. it's a bit uncomfortable/uneasy to watch. Luckily it's during initial lift chair check-up proceedure. this mostly falls on the fixed chair. Do you know what kind of chairs these were? Poma, Doppelmayer, etc ? and high speed or fixed ? Just curious.
  17. just bought those tires -- nokian hakkapellitas. wow, all i can say im blown away
  18. Oh, I nearly mis-read that as the T-Rex motorcycle/tricycle. Now, that's the ultimate toy dream of mine :p
  19. yea. my ice prinaha 158 madd had the same thing. i was a bit concerned with the snow seeping in... but turns out it's ok. :D
  20. yea, i heard heavenly got 5 feet of snow in 24 hours... ?

ick. im eye-balling this tomahawk. of course ill have to compete with kent. :)
  22. I just pull out my lib tech 172 litigator and slap on softies. at times, ive used my 159 when i go back country riding (well, it alot easier to negotiate the trees at the bottom of east vail with a smaller board).
  23. well i'd stuck a gold star on your precious nuggets. Dough Boy's HUGE -- 193. excatly what you mean by the "feel" of it, may I ask? Haven't got my hands on one -- minus manufactored it.
  24. dumping at vail. was nice snowmobiling around on deep powder in the middle of night (work graveyard shift) while doing snowmaking. EDIT: This was posted at 2:30 AM :D
  25. not to mention there was a fatality at vail. some race crew member on a snowmobile and a 13 yrs old ski racer had a collision. the ski racer did not survive.
