Guys, I had this board before I sold it, there are only 2 of these prototypes left. Please read this link about the condition, ride quality and history of this board.

    http://forums.alpinesnowboarder.com/topic/43110-madd-158-ti-prototype-for-sale-limited-addition/

If you have any questions on the board please direct them at me. Kate can only tell you how she stumbled on the board and is now trying to sell it.

Ok, while we are at it, would you be able to compare it with the original Madd 158 and the 2nd generation? I have experiences with both editions. Just need to get the "feel" since I have no experience on the F3.

Hi Lee, check out the new "Similar Content" block - to the right of the thread on desktop, below the thread on mobile.

Hey man... thanks... it's not much of a substance but glad there's algorithm for that. Much appreciated.

I'm kinda see a blur since I got sentimental when somebody posted a youtube URL with Sean/Donek visiting Fin/Bomber. I jsut realize that was almost a decade ago. My, how time flies. I miss visiting Fin's shop every so often just for the heck of it.

I don't even think it was an issue of timing. I raced USASA on TD3 sidewinders for 4 seasons, and have raced on F2s the past 2 seasons. When it comes to suspension and flexibility, they aren't even close. The sidewinders provide some flexibility along a single axis, but F2s will flex in whatever way you apply pressure. Ther

I love the TD3 sidewinders and still have the pair I used, but they just aren't what works for racers. Fin wanted to make an indestructible product and was phenomenal at doing that but had to sacrifice flexibility to do so.

I've been out of racing for so long that I'm completely out of touch. I still use TD2. I'm gonna have to look into F2 bindings and check it out if I can get a chance to do so. Thanks for the tidbits, it's much appreciated.

IDK about "getting old", I feel like I "got" old! Shoutout to LeeW, Tex1230 and Sinecure, where you guys been?

Hey man... ah, just working my ass off at Coors factory these days. At least, it's able to help me get this awesome diesel shooter: BMW 335d. ?

I realize my alpine board is collecting dust so I might sweep it off and gun it in bimmer and ride the madd 159 "the pimp" for a round or two this coming winter up on megametropolis ski resorts on i-70. What about you, Dan?

And to add to that a very expensive business. How much did Fin want to sell it for? $250,000? I had no idea bomber was such a profitable business to ask such a high price.

If you've seen the CNC tool Fin had at the shop in S'thorne, you'd see why it'd be quite... pricey. Those tools aren't cheap. Quite sophisticated equipment he had. I recall he made a tiny metal motorcycle helmet out of that machine. That's how precise that CNC equipment was. So I can imagine the asking price to be quite astronomical but "affordable."

It’s all a matter of perception, I guess.  I experienced a very different Bomber as soon as the Callens bought the business.  Late delivery on my orders, ignored voicemails and emails and in person excuses and promises once I finally did get them on the phone.  In the end, I lost more than $1,000.

I don’t see it as robbing Peter to pay Paul.  It’s a bit more like stealing from Peter, Paul, Fin and everyone else to pay Angie and Jim.  I’m still bitter about the whole thing, sorry.

Oh my. You didn't get a refund at all?

Wasn't Tara's husband Jerry Masterpool (Cross M), and not Mike?

And sorry about the confusion. My comment was about the Northern Rage VHS part that @FrankNBeans posted. I did check the VHS cover box and half the names of the riders and bands are hidden by the sponsors logos. But from what was visible, no hints of it being Victoria Jealous, Tara Eberhard or otherwise...

Oh yes yes yes, you're right. It is Jerry Masterpool.

And yes, that was VJ, no doubt. I was surprised when I realized she used to ride for Nitro as well as carving with softboots. Oh, so close, so close... I prefer hardboots, man... HOWEVER I'll settle for THAT kiss in that video!!! ❤️❤️❤️

yeah, from the looks of it... that photo is the only media to be found with her on hardboots. I hope to bump into her again one day and ask her directly... maybe I should return to the industry and head out to SIA tradeshows, tho I prefer ski industry tradeshows (like ski lifts, grooming, snowmaking, etc).

Yeah, that makes sense.  But who is "Mike"?

I wonder if that might be the same Mike as in Tara's husband and the coach of Cross M racing team (are they still around these days?).

I think I still might have the original VHS. I'll try to check both rider's names on the box as soon as I have a minute to go through the boxes of tapes.

Please do. The title for the VHS, as well. Thanks. I don't think there are any videos of VJ on alpine snowboard except maybe in the private domains.

  8. All this time, I thought the Callen were straight up arrows.

With the poor choices they have made, it must have been unexpected result to induce the injuries to a very tight knit community (in their eyes) and worst, themselves.

Personally, I do not think the community have suffer greatly as Mr. Fin has. I've seen his shop first hand and even hang out with him and Mechelle and their lovely dogs whenever I can from Vail and S'Thorne. At the time, they were really sweating into their works.

With that said, thank you for sharing the perspectives as well as the news.

I only wish we all learn from this lesson and move on. Yes, I do have hope for Bomber to make their mighty return on a solid foundation.

  9. I'm surprised Copper hasn't been mentioned. I've been a Vail epic pass holder for many years (first year was 1991 or 1992) even to the point of being an employee for 7 years.

With that said, I have trained at Copper with Team Copper for alpine snowboard. I admit I had more fun at Copper on my alpine board than most of the mountains Vail owns.

Breck's peak 10 ski lift is really fun with alpine.

A-Basin... late Spring/Summer, if you like corn snow with my rock board (bare snow isnt' fun to mess up your Madd 158 on).

Key's fun but quite family oriented and need to have keen awareness of who is riding/skiing around you.

Vail? Ah, that's been my home mountain for many years and believe it or not, I enjoyed the alpine board at Golden Peak when I worked in terrain park maintenance. Bear Tree's fun and so is Giant Steps (and International) when it's been winch-cat groomed.

The Beav's fun... but I prefer the Arrowhead area than the Beav side.

  10. This was posted a LONG TIME ago. Trouble is I am having difficulty finding that particular post with photoshots (I suspect it was in the previous incarnation of BoL forum - this is the 3rd forum, for those who don't know).

So for that person, would you please post the mods/photos (I can't find the original copy of the photos - I think its in my PC and it has gone dead for a while) done for UPZ via screws and insert to make it fit right with DIN or have the DIN kit improved with the correct screws/inserts?

    Dan Yoja?

EDIT: This might be the 4th forum, by the by.

  11. I've never got to try out Deeluxe so I've been on those UPZ boots (the older red boots with gray stiff-a.f. tongue). They're good for me at least. My feet are wide type.

And yes, they're slippery as hell especially when ski DIN are inserted. No, I have not use those UPZ boots for racing/carving since I hung up racing way back in 2006 or so.

Now? I -might- give it a shot... just a bit of a major hassle to convert the DIN sole out and step in back in via the UPZ boots. -_-

  12. Well, way I see it... I turn around and look up to see how my lines are. If it's the width of a pencil, it's carving to me. If it's like parabolic (pencil width to wide bell), I need more work. This is recreational carving for me, personally. Racing is entirely different ball game. There are times I miss racing. Nothing beats the heart beating in the ear as I haul ass through the gates to the finish line.
