  1. Well, for a start, I have ridden over 200 days in one single year ages ago. My average riding/skiing days per year is roughly 7 months a year since 1994.  Few years later, I was offered to be on the alpine racing team after I have proven myself to be real fast with softies and Burton PJ7. Got into racing a bit too much. Had a beast, Rossignol 184... it was though a tough training with that beast and hard boot. Broke my leg and have titanium rod. 2005, give or take, I had to pick up skiing because of the job. It was easier to get the job done on skis, even tho I have almost zero experience with skiing. Fortunately, my UPZ boots gave me that opportunity. That's how I fell in love with skiing - it was a new experience for me. And yes, I have live in the mountains for a very long time. Now, I had to leave because after 2 decades and a half, it's really a hard life being a ski bum. Hence the change in career for stability, etc.

Now as for returning to hard boot, I hope to be able to meet up with a couple of hardbooters, again... like big mario and so forth. So maybe I'll get the juju back. I only inquire to see if I'm the only one who is feeling burnt out.

As for those who knows what I'm struggling with, yes, relocation to Denver from mountains is a hard move and I had to swallow my pride on that and deal with reality. And YES, alpine riding has gotten prohibitively expensive these days and it is one of the primary driving force on me not riding much, via hardbooting.

  2. I have not touch my Madd 158 in a very long time. I believe the last time I rode was with a couple of locals via this forum out in keystone back in maybe 2008. Since then (8 years!), I haven't touch it at all. Yes I use my UPZ boots all the time when I go skiing on my Lib Tech NAS skis.

I wonder what do I need to do to return to my roots? motivation, that's for sure. Unfortunately, landing a job at the big ass city (Denver) isn't ideal for daily riding/skiing. :(

    What about you ?

  3. Hello, Michelle (and Fin)...

It's been a very long time since I have last seen you both at the shop ages ago when I was a resident of Summit and Eagle. I wish you a great fortune for your near future.

In the mean time, I hope your path and mine will cross again one of these days.

    Take care.

    -hugs-

  4. Hello, Sean. Long time no see nor talk. I've moved back to CO with my wife in tow. So good to be back home. I oughta head out to your factory whenever I fix my husky dirt bike and hit Watkin track.

Back to the topic of durable gloves, I'm not sure if this would be relevant to your question, however as a former employee of Vail, I swear on those Elk Skin leather gloves. They are ... my god ... so durable. Extremely durable. Get the one with linen on if you're considering it.

I can't remember the name but if you want, I can go look it up and tell you?

  5. maybe it's not too late for there to be a glaxo/bayer/pfizer booth at SES2014, offering sildenafil/tadalafil/vardenafil ;)

No it isn't. I'm already seeing dollar signs, man. And ... for love of god, the craziness at nights during the SES week. -wince-

  6. Are you still using your old email address? The hotmail address?

My asianavenue is long defunct for good number of years. Last we talked to each other via email was April 7, 2005.

So I'll be sending a line to your hotmail address to do a "sound check" as well as come back here to double check if your hotmail is still valid in case if I got nothing back on my personal inbox.

EDIT: I just tried and it bounced. It's definitely defunct email address of yours. I'll try to send a line through bomberonline bbs.

EDIT 2: Nope, your email is turned off as well. Could you send me an email?

  7. Well, well, well... what a surprise to see your return. I relish your presence. If you still see Bill Loftus every now and then, give him my kindest regards.

    Word.

    EDIT:

*For those that care to know, the Bucket of Love is a pasta salad with smoked mozzerella cheese, prosciutto chunks and other tidbits of goodness that is a staple on multi-day snowboard and mountain bike trips. It was kept in a large plastic container and after a hard day of riding one of my friends said it was a bucket of love, and the name stuck. I can post the recipe on the waaaaay OFF TOPIC forum.

Please do. I'd like to check out this BoL and eat it, literally.

  8. (custom Graphics) Well, and that's not the Original Madd 158 which when ridden with authority had more than the edge hold of the reissue Madd 170 . The originals had what felt like 20-25 more CM of grip and were super agile in edge to edge transitions.

I know. I tried the original ones of Fin's and it's incomparable to the one I got. However, that board of his... he'll never sell it. :)

  9. Well, I hope you are familiar with MotoGP... especially those beasts, the 500cc 2 strokes. There's this guy who has really cool british accent... this is how he put it in via "Faster" motoGP video:

"Anybody who could ride a 500cc GP motorcycle well enough to qualify on Grand Prix grid is a hero, Anybody! because these things are the most evil devices if your treat them wrong they will bite."

This could be said the same for those Madd 158. I personally own one and it says "The Pimp" on it as well. :) But dude... I once wiped out on that board so bad that I knocked myself out. Several riders of this forum were out there with me at Keystone... they're quite squirrely so you need to handle them with care.

No, I do not ride them often enough, but when I do, they're so bloody awesome. However, I've pretty much almost 100% retire from riding and moved on to skiing with my snowboard hardboots these days... and have been for maybe almost a decade.

Credible? Former racer with Team Copper and US Deaf Olympics.

  10. Jesus -- this thread's STILL ongoing since 2008... oh my goodness.

Just a small note: I've return back home alongside with my wife. :) Unfortunately, we are living at the front range for the time being. Fortunately, we're ALOT closer to home mountains (namely Vail's resorts and Copper). :)
