  1. That is just so wrong!! Bring on the snow, I don't know how much more of this I can take! mario
  2. After years of exhaustive testing and research, I have found 2 worthy pizza parlors in the state. One is the afore mentioned Guido's, and the other is Diorio's in Fruita. Guido's, located at 8,000+ feet rules out elevation. The fact that both of these places can do it right rules out ingredients. The owners of these two establismentshave one thing in common: they are both from central jersey, GSP exits 80 and 98 respectively, leading to the following conclusion: You have to be from the northeast to make( and truly appreciate) a good thin crust pie. About the only thing I miss from back east are big, gooey greasey slices from 3 Brothers on the boards in Seaside. Almost that time, mario
  3. My rides are readdddy!!!! not soon enough mario
  4. Count me in for wed through fri. mario
  5. Last season I bought a pair of mondo 28 suzukas. After attempting to heat them myself(unsuccesfully) I went to see Larry the bootfitter. Since I heated the liners already, I now owned the boots. Larry informed me that they were to big, eventhough I measured a 28. I got lucky and traded for 27's over the summer(thanks heatzig). Anyway, I paid Larry the bootfitter another visit yesterday, and those one size too small boots now fit just fine 5 weeks and counting, mario Larry rocks!!!
  6. You might be able to find an "affordable" duplex in a slightly sketchy neighborhood close in, but at 40k it looks like condo bondage in our slightly overheated realestate market . Try to find a comprimise that doesn't put you too far north or east, it will just add that much more time to the mountains. On the pizza front, I did find aplace in Genesee right off of I-70 that makes one of the best NY stlye pies on the front range(Guido's) It is owned by a fellow rider/surfer who grew up in the next town over from me.
  7. Pints at the Wynkoop?(our mayors personal brewpub, I might add!)
  8. The traffic can be a bit challenging, but it is worth it!! I live in northwest denver, in the highlands nieghborhood. 5 minutes from downtown, and a minute from both I-25 and I-70. Great mexican food, lots of brewpubs, multitudes of resturants, and all the sports fanatics you can handle. I live in an older nieghborhood with a really nice feel to it. Though I am really close to downtown, it does not feel like a big city. You may find the newer towns a little barren. As a transplant from south jersey, I found the lack of trees a little disconcerting. Any who, carving an hour away, lots of mountain biking 1/2 hour away, and over 300 days of sunshine a year.. The pizza, however, sucks mario
  9. Does that mean i'll have to learn how to say "oh my heck"?
  10. I don't think Pete would sue you, nor would I. So have you been craving a few runs on that fancy wild duck of mine?? I know your jealous welcome back, mario
  11. Well, I have been a much happier person since I left the psychotic east, though the pizza is not that good out here!
  12. I will have to agree with Dan the Man on this. I met my lovely wife( I know you are not looking to get married here, I'm just sayin'...) 11years ago in the old mansion/apartment building that we both lived in. I was social distortion, and she was grateful dead. Despite that potentially fatal flaw, we did hit it off and have a blast together . She did think I was a nitwit the first time we met however, I was headed to to the slopes with my highly stylee '93 palmer disco pimp, a board that she still cringes at when she walks by it. The short of it is, leave your current realm, you just may be suprised. mario

    New MTB

The problem was with 02/03 larges. The seat tubes were cut on the wrong side of the butt. The santa cruz people were amazed that the bike lasted as long as it did( midway through a second season) and replaced the bike no questions asked. Imho if there are any of those frames out there, they would have broken already. mario

    New MTB

but it broke. :( There was a batch of larges with bad mitres, and I had one of them. Santa Cruz was great on the warranty. I got a heckler instead, which I felt was better suited to my 5-10 1/4 230# frame. The pivots on the blur, and there are a lot of them, where starting to make a lot of noise and were driving me nuts. The travel did feel bottomless, and I do miss that bike. mario
  19. 100 degrees in denver right now. I think i'll go hide in the basement and fondle my quiver mario
  20. And I still have a major stoke going. It got even worse after watching the hardbooter video last week. I can't get carving out of my head. I've even bought two boards since I pulled my bindings in may. My poor heckler sits lonely and neglected in the basement gathering dust. The pathetic thing is that I have probably spent more time gazing longingly at my growing quiver than have riding my mountain bike. Those who know me know that that ain't natural. I have a sickness, and cowbell is not the cure. signed, desperate until the snow flies
  21. Scott, Despite the current streak of 95 degree and warmer days on the front range, there is quantifiable proof of winters inevitable return: the days are getting shorter and shorter, and soon the higher rocky mountain resorts will be firing up their snow guns for the annual race to open first. Of course, for those of means and little patience, there is always south america. dreaming of october, mario p.s. (i know, we are spoiled brats out here!)
  22. But I know a few people who started carving 'cause they felt it would make them chick magnets.
  23. I can't wait for winter.
  24. I have a pair of 28's with less than 10 days on them, I got them in april and they are a touch to big, heated twice mario
