  1. Many decades ago I bought a very expensive pair of skis. Top reviews, the best ever, etc... I also bought a $49 pair of skis just for early season rock, who gives a shit, skis. I LOVED the cheap skis. Actually only rode the expensive ones twice that season. The best ride is the one that works for you

Not the one that everyone says is the best

  2. A properly fitted boot can be achieved. I agree with shell work. My Nordica Supercharger Ignition boots are 8 years old now. stock liners, not moldable.

I had the shell blown out on the outside of each little toe and at the big toe on both.

I have about 400 days in them. Hands down the most comfortable I've ever worn. Also they were a full size smaller than I had ever worn. Last year I installed Hotronics heaters and just the duct tape under the Super feet footbed tightened them up like new.

If you can accurately describe where it hurts or pressures, a good boot fitter can make 'em feel like slippers

  3. Thread Jack !! I have 2 Powder Skwals for sale in the "For Sale" section. Adapted from a Nordica Powder ski. I will put inserts in for your preferred stance width. I did one for myself a few years ago and it totally ROCKS.  185cm 167/140/157 29M radius. 2 layer Titinal, wood core.  Early rise tip/tail, (not rocker,) camber under foot. This is a beefy ride that really flies. Unlike any other Skwal you have ever ridden. Fast and floats well. Carves well on the soft groom, Haven't tried it on firm, no reason to, that's not what it's for. I guarantee this set-up will out perform any Skwal you have ever ridden, in a powder situation. It is mind blowing in high speed surfy turns in an open bowl. I've had mine over 50 MPH on a 12"+ powder day.

I'll even offer a full money back guarantee, (less shipping).

Beggars can't be choosers, right?  Angie and I are planning on a Sunday Funday at Loveland.

Opener wasn't too bad today. Snow typically hard, racers out in force. Didn't see any rocks. Mario, Juan, Kevin and I should be there Sunday. I haven't heard from anyone else.

  6. I want to make turns as much as anyone, BUT, I've been to many opening day/weekends @ the 'Basin, NEVER AGAIN !!! Actually I quit buying the Epic pass 5 years ago because of the crowds at Vail Resorts.

    I'll wait for Loveland...

    I'm in...

  9. Powder Skwals available. (I have 2 available).

Specs: 185 cm 167/140/157 29M radius. Early rise tip, (not rocker) Titanal construction

Upon order it will have 4X4 inserts set-up for your preferred stance width. It is a Nordica "Yah Luv" ski.

I've done one for myself and it makes an incredible Powder Skwal. This is for a new never been on snow ski. Includes a fresh tune. Works best for open terrain surf style riding. Works well @ speed and carves well on soft fresh groom.

    $300 + shipping

  10. Also this set-up allows and responds well to a longer turn/higher speed "surfy style" of riding. This ski is strong and bombproof. There isn't anything on the market, short of a custom build, like it. You won't be disapointed.

Money back guarantee, that is the most awesome ride ever for powder riding on a Skwal

  11. Hi Art,

I 4 x 4 inserted a Nordica Jah Luv ski several years ago. It worked fantastic. Specs: 185 cm 167/140/157 29m radius. early rise tip. Titanal+ wood core. A little on the stiff side as a ski but I found it great as a Skwal. I mounted my stance centered on the skiis marked boot center.

I just picked a brand new pair that I will install a set of 4 x 4 inserts, for any interested party, based on ones preferred stance width.

I've found that Skwals and Monos have too much sidecut to be a great powder ride. This set-up is NOT for trees, ( although it would work fine I think). It's for big mountain, or open terain/ bowl type riding. I never tried it on firm conditions but it should be ok because of it's Titanal. It does carve rather well on soft fresh groom too. I wanted a Ski that won't throw me "over the bars" when I make a fast turn transition.

Cost will be $ 300 + shipping. Inserts placed based on your personal stance width preference.

  12. Jackson is a steep mountain. Everywhere. I love carving on my skis, or mono there. Personally I would consider Targhee a better mountain for Alpine carving. wider runs, good grooming. Not much variety. Affectionately known as Grand Foghee . When the weather hits, it has some of the flattest light I've ever been in. There is also Snow King. Right in town, small, steep, and super cheap. Season passes are like $150.

  13. Yesterday was good. Today was a wind loaded version. The snow was DEEP. Arne and I ran Bennets twice. Yesterdays tracks were gone. Went over to #8 and proceeded to reap the overnight wind load rewards. It was near knee deep and outstanding. Lots of props from the chairlift. One snowboarder commented on having the misfortune to get caught in one of my canyons. Conditions  warranted riding my big powder mono. The trenches that I was leaving would make a great kids bobsled run...
