Any suggestions for skis that are capable carvers, and decent all mountain also? Something for tweener days.

Thinking in the 160cm to 170cm long range and 2 or 3 years old maybe so I can get them inexpensively.

I get 4 free days at Deer Valley and 2 free days at Alta with my season pass and believe it or not

they won’t let me ride my mono boards there!????

    Thanks,Ron

    Monoboards/monoskis are allowed at both

Are there any ticket deals to Loveland? I see you can buy ahead on the site but that's not much of a price break. Even their full boat price isn't too bad compared to other resorts though.

    Thanks,

You might also try Craigslist for 4 pack tickets. Lots of scammers be careful if you go that route

  3. On the skiers code topic...  6 weeks ago I was killin' it on my Virus skis having an epic day. As I was transitioning my next turn I gave a look over my shoulder and...

                                                                                           BAM.

A Texas novice snowboarder, who was sitting in the shadows next to the trees, pushed off without looking... right in front of me. All I could do is throw myself to the side. I think my right ski went between his feet. I took him out pretty hard but he was not hurt. Me: concussion, fractured right thumb, serious ankle sprain and major MCL damage. MRI coming in a few days to see how bad, possible ACL Who knows...  In my mind it is clearly his fault for not looking uphill before entering a trail perpendicular to the trail/fall line, but, according to the skiers code it is my fault. According to Trace I was going 50 MPH

  4. A good start point is: Ball of the foot 1" ahead of effective edge center. I had very limited success with a plate system. I had Sean, (Donek),  make me  a plate with side by side inserts. I can mount it on any 4x4 insert Alpine board. I used Bomber skiboard bindings, I mounted the plate to insert center. I think that if you load your front foot on the plate it can actually lift the rear, thus requiring riding neutral body position.  My Avatar is me on a Rossi Throttle that I direct mounted solomon ski bindings. Damn that board carved well as a Mono.

I mounted around 12 different Alpine boards Mono style. I feel that the core profile is different somehow than a mfg mono and most didn't work out as I had hoped.

A single foot release is pretty rare, you either don't release or both release. Some monoriders torque a binding right off of the board. If you "modulate" with the outside foot you can control the edging. IE: lifting on the outside foot when turning. Riding technically correct you will never rip a binding out..

  5. Update:

Sure missing riding with you Yahoos... The VA continues to amaze me, MRI scheduled for FEB 23rd. WOW !

Still really swollen, but, slowly feeling better. Ankle is tolerable and the knee only hurts if I move it too much. I have a feeling that I will be able to ride the mono in 3 or 4 weeks. Took a roadtrip to Oregon to see my sweetie, just got back. easy 6 days of driving.

  6. Going to be awhile finding out the full extent of my mishap. 1st available Orthopedics appt. is Jan 11th. then they will schedule an MRI of my knee and ankle.

Like we used to say in the Army... hurry up and wait !

  7. Known damage so far... concussion, extensive ligament/tendon damage to my ankle, fractured thumb, and probable MCL/ACL . will know more after seeing the Orthopedic surgeon and MRI. Not good... My season is over. Bummer I was having fun today. I'll come up and see you fruit booters for breakfast in a few weeks.

Thanks to EVERYONE for hanging and helping me out. The LCI RULES !

P.S the guy I ran into got thumped but not hurt.
