  1. This Mono freak will be there, for sure.

Be sure to go see the Warren Miller film and see you fruitbooters in all your glory !

I'm hoping the editors are nice to my fellow Mono rider and me. I'm so fortunate to have hooked up with the Hardboot community and to be so welcomed. Maybe I'll break out the Skwal this time around...

  4. Made for me custom Donek Skwal.

    185cm 12m-16m variable sidecut.

Early rise tip & tail, (not rocker).

Titanal, full wrap edge. 8 pak inserts for awesome personal preference binding placement.

Topsheet got marked up in my rocket box so I put a Carbon look vinyl wrap on it. Base is a 9. It is edged, waxed and ready to ride.

    Edges are -1° base & -3° side.

    $350 + free shipping in the U.S.

I could add Catek OS2 long plates, (step-in or regular) with D3 elastomers for $500 total + shipping

we need Monodude and Skwalguy to put on a clinic/demo of skwals in action with explanations of the differences and subtleties.

I demoed a thias skwal from the man himself at northstar in '97, I wasn't a very good carver back then and felt like my shoe laces were tied together the whole time. A little instruction would have made a big difference.

I would gladly do what I could to help a newbe. It would be different for sure. I use poles. Kinda like you Troy, Freaks among freaks...

From what I gathered from the last Clear CUT nobody got on the demo board I sent out. Even the guy that won it in the raffle wanted nothing to do with it. There seems to be little, if any, interest in the one that is listed in the classifieds right now either. I certainly understand that this forum is alpine snowboard specific and that Skwals might be the black sheep of the carving arts. I also recognize that my company is not one of the bigger board producers that people are looking to ride or may even be aware of.

That all being said, if people have interest in getting on a Skwal and want to have one available to try something new and discover the dark side of carving then I will send one out. If there is no interest then I will probably not be sending one out this year, especially given the way the demo area will be operating this year due to COVID. Please leave your thoughts here so I can gauge interest. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hi Ace, I would be happy to bring the Ace Skwal, (that Sandy so graciously handed me) with some Catek OS 2's mounted for any who might want to try it.

@*Ace* to be fair, I won the raffle for your board (which was beautifully constructed and very high quality design), but since I am the Rad-Air rep and a soft boot carver, I felt it would be great to give it to someone who would ride and appreciate it (and the guy that I gave it to loves it).

I think it is important to have all types of riding represented at events like this as it helps get riders talking about different styles where they can share experiences and try boards too...just my thought as a guy that loves sliding on snow, I hope that you will send one as it helps get the info about your products out there and I am sure that any of the vendors going would not have a problem with a skwal in the tent...I will put it in mine if need be and we can showcase the long wide tankers and long skinny skwals in one place.

    cheers,

    sandy

YES Sandy I love it. Thank you so much again. I mostly Mono, occasionally Ski and Skwal. All of which are constantly striving for the best carved turns ever...

  8. Rented a motor home with 2 friends for a trip from Portland, Oregon to Squaw Valley. Got there and one of those OMG Sierra storms started. Had to go out several times during the night to shovel the roof. over 3 feet had fallen overnight with no end in sight. We were stuck in the parking lot and the lifts weren't turning. It continued for three days. Around 10 FEET total. Had to clear the roof countless times. We never got to make a turn, just sat and drank, three guys stuck in a 24' motor home.. They couldn't open, nobody could get there. The Maintenance Dept. got us more Propane and supplies. When it stopped they plowed us out and we went home. We did catch a day at Mt. Bachelor on the way home.

Late July probably. Waiting for the local epidemiologist (my wife that is, and yes, she's actually an epidemiologist) to give the all clear.

I'll be back home by the 20th. Leaving again on the 29th. Let me know when you find out. I'll come down and do lunch or something. Or you could come up and check out the new MonoDude pad

  10. I'm going for a ride. Oregon to Northern Idaho to meet my new GREAT Grand babies, then swing down to Denver to visit my mom, then home. Avoiding people and Interstates as best as I can. Then home for a week and off to the North cascades across to Glacier NP. and back with my riding buddies on our 35th Annual ride together. Should be around 7 or 8 thousand miles altogether.

Feeding my other addiction... Pavement carving...

  11. I like it. with the ecu mods and the full exhaust it should be around 30 HP. rides great. suspension is a little soft for my fat ass, though. 6 speed, dual disc, inverted forks, dual overhead cam. biggest drawback is the 2 gallon tank. before the mods I was getting 71 MPG. haven't filled up from the last ride yet to see  the difference
