  1. I thought that red symbol was a red "B". Seems like all softies back then looked pretty much the same, I think the mold for the rubber lower is identical. I think I may have sold this brand back in the day, that funky support strap is makin'my mind work overtime at the momentbecause it looks so familiar.
  2. Bob, thanks for looking, I just managed to score a set from Burton! :)
  3. I cant remember what model those were, but I think it was back in the day when they made only 2 models. Looking at the shape of the top of the cuff, as well as the extra support strap, I'd say that is the "comp"? model, not the "freestyle"? model. The comp used a ski boot inner bladder/liner, it actually gave decent support when used with one of their many incarnations of the 3 buckle bindings. I used to carve at one time with such a beast. I actually had to MAKE my own firat pair, Burton was always sold out of boots. I took a Sorel type boot, put a leather Caber "comp" skiboot liner in them, and actually punched out and installed my own eyelets to have a laceable inner boot. Oh, those were the days! This boot has potential, drop a skiboot liner that fits in the outer shell/cuff,, find out the mondo size and recycle them to someone who prefers a 3 buckle soft binding!
  4. Here's Catek in "Redneck" http://www.rinkworks.com/dialect/dialectp.cgi?dialect=redneck&url=http%3A%2F%2Fcatek.com and Here's Catek in "Elmer Fudd" http://www.rinkworks.com/dialect/dialectp.cgi?dialect=fudd&url=http%3A%2F%2Fcatek.com This is the website that "translates" several "dialects" for you if you want to have more fun of your own: http://www.rinkworks.com/dialect/
  5. I'm not too familiar with all the Raichle models. As long as it has an intec compatible heel, then you will be all set with step ins, you'll just have to swap out the stock heelpieces for intec heelpieces, $50-60 new. That would take care of the step in situation. As far as regular ones go, I'll check with a buddy of mine to see if he wants to part with his TD1 standards. But it may take several days, so if you get a deal from someone else in the meantime, snag 'em.
  6. I've ofthen thought about priority mailing my board 2 days ahead of time to the resort (reasonable if under 170cm), and packing my boots and bindings with me. Might make the traveling easier/lighter. Almost got into a fistfight with baggage check a few years pre 9/11. They hassled me bigtime. Wouldn't want to go that route again nowadays.
  7. That aint the first time dat style board has been listed. Check the history. A few other follish auctions as well. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewListedItems&since=30&userid=the_prada_girl&include=0&rows=50&sort=3&completed=1 Apparently she couldn't get $200 for the cool snowboard bag by itself, so it had to be thrown in with the "Limited Edition" snowboard. Got a chuckle as well from the "Made By Burton" description when the binding has a 4H pattern as well. Whats next, Gucci by Donek, or Louis Vuitton by Coiler?
  8. Thanks for checking Bob, you da man! I'll be happy to throw a couple of bucks your way if you have them. This will be for a carving setup to convert my buddie's lightweight wife from softies to plates.
  9. very interested, email sent!
  10. Groveland, MA? They must do all their product testing in the treacherous back bowls of Bradford Ski Area! :)
  11. Flaskman, are you looking for regular TD's, or step ins?
  12. Art, If you aren't going to give up the PBR's, then you might want to give up the doughnuts! ;) I myself have been on weight yo-yo the last couple of years. I was up to about 250, then slimmed down to 215, now I'm back at 250 again. I DEFINITELY notice a difference in my endurance, pain(or lack thereof), stamina, strength at the lower weight. I'm working my way back down so hopefully I'll be in better shape next year. I think having only 4 days in so far this year is a factor also. I've only got 3 days in myself this year. I think it takes around 6 days for it to become 'automatic' again for the body, feeling naturally more comfortable carving again, with less brain 'thought' and less clenching muscles, jaws, and rigid body, which may make a difference at the end of the day.
  13. Winston, I don't know what your budget is, but here's some new Deeeluxes I found on eBay. http://stores.ebay.com/Performancedownhill_Snowboard-Boots_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQftidZ2QQtZkm. They got a 2005 LeMans for $325, and your size is hard to come by, might be worth a shot. If you can fit in a 30.0, Fin has some '04 leftover Indy's for $399, most places are still getting full price for them, just over $500. If you can deal with orange that's a half decent price IMO. http://www.bomberonline.com/store/boots/deeluxe_indy.cfm
  14. Fatty, I'm a fatty too. I'm 6'3", 255, and I ride fairly agressively. I just bought a pair of Indy's in a 29.0. I also tried on the Head's at the same time. I REALLY wanted the Heads to fit me, but the fit was not the problem. The problem I had was that when I flexed them, it really deformed the shell, and where the shell deformed and broke(lined up with) my foot/leg, it caused alot of bang. That's why I went with the Indys, and Oh yeah, I got the thermo liners too. I'm happy so far with them after a few days of riding, I just need to break them in a little more. I don't know what your budget is but look here: http://www.bomberonline.com/store/boots/deeluxe_indy.cfm Fin has the leftover 04's for $399, and 30.0 is one of the two sizes he has left. There is also an eBay seller in NH, they call themselves either "Snowboards and More" or "PerformanceDownhill". Here is their page for snowboard boots: http://stores.ebay.com/Performancedownhill_Snowboard-Boots_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQftidZ2QQtZkm Keep your eye on the prices, about two weeks ago they listed their 2005 Indys aand Suzukas for $325 buy-it-now. I don't know if it was a mistake or not, maybe they were trying to move some stuff over February school vacation. It might be worth a call to see if they have anything last year's that is not on eBay, they will also sell off of eBay. Good Luck!
  15. Hi folks, I recently aquired a pair of Burton Physics bindings. They are complete except for one cable/handle is missing, so I need a replacement pair, figuring the one good cable isn't too far behind the broken missing one. Is the Intec cable/handle the same thing for both the intec heels and Physics heels?
  16. Cj, do the heel pieces have the release cables, or is it just the heelpieces?
  17. I guess you and I are trying to say the same thing Mirror, but I think you said it better. Seems like there could be too much twisting and bending going on with the bindings which could be making them break, almost like fighting the system rather than going with the flow. I'm puzzled why they break because I'm much bigger than most riders I meet. I've never broken one myself, which is why I can only theorize why they are breaking. I also wonder if higher angles would mean less chance for breakage, as possibly riders are putting less twisting/rocking on the bindings because their legs are aligned more downhill.
  18. Couple more theories: Would riding a stiff and less forgiving boards require more effort to flex, thereby putting more stress on the bindings? Would a stiff race board transmit more vibrations/shock, be transmitted directly through the bindings versus more shock being absorbed through a softer flexing board first?
  19. I wonder some of the breakage could be attributed to riding style/aggressiveness/finesse? Also, some folks are fortunate to ride many days each season, which could equate to a a bindings "lifetime" in one season in comparison to some folks who may only ride 5 or 10 days each year, but have no issues for 5 or 6 years.
  20. PAappraiser, these are performance plates
  21. So get the poll goin! ;) Although I have TD's now, I have ridden 3D Race Plates since their inception with no failures while riding, and I am 6'3", 250, with size 13 feet, and I consider myself an advanced carver. I had one of the plastic toe closures break on me, but that whas when I was putting them on, not riding, they were brand new, the fist day out, so I think it just happened to be a defective one.
  22. Nice beats D-Sub, I Likey! However, I'm listening to one of your tracks track right now while watching "mikemcse"s animated avatar, and its way too funny. (Click D-Subs site, pick a track, and then click on the thread titled "Comin to Ideeho" to find the AV and you'll get the idea.)
  23. Tim, unless you have Fred Flintstone/High Volume feet, those boots are WAY too big! I"m a 13 and I like to punishing myself, so I ride mondo 29.0, miost folks my size would opt for the 30's. My actual foot measurement is about 29.45 mondo. IF you measure a 27.0, then you must be around a 9 then? I would guess that most of your troubles is because you don't have much board feel due to their oversize, not to mention you are not centered on the board (from edge to edge) due to their oversize, Thats a full 3 CM difference! I bootlegged my av from an Endless Summer II poster, you could always bootleg Endless Summer I! Don't worry about the long posts, I'm known for my novellas as well. As long as it is on topic, its no problem, as details are always important for answering any questions you may have.
  24. Simple law of suppply and demand, and IMO also likely a quality of life issue, as well as a control & quality control issue Small Production/Hands on Approach=Quality (Hopefully) Small Production + Specialized Market = Demand Quality=Price Demand=Price I have not seen one of his boards, but based on what I read here his product quality speaks volumes. If he floods the market with more boards he has eliminated his demand, and hence his demand and high price. If he makes more boards, that takes more time, hence no quality of life, or he ends up switching from being a manufacturer to being an employer. Having employees sucks. Smart guy if you ask me. I'm still searching fot that magic formula so I can do the same thing.
