  1. Is this SmIlLiN dAvE from back in the day? "Sometimes I ride the board, sometimes the board rides me"
  2. The number sequence was that of performance and does not correlate to the picture. In the picture, the Black Donek was 1st proto followed by the red Donek being the 2nd proto. The 3rd proto has not been pictured yet. Not ready to release specs as nothing is final. No price has been determined. Wide versions have not been discussed. But you can hock the family jewels.
  3. We are on the 3rd prototype. Cant wait.
  4. Mark, It has been confirmed that the spoken of "Italian Madds" are in no way shape or form identical to the originals. Other than bearing the same name and possibly made by the same builder, they are not originals. The Madds that were released some years back with the green and red sidewalls was madd's attempt at reproducing somrthing similar to the originals but it was a failed attempt.
  5. Ive had the same pair of gloves for quite a while. Love them. We have been getting these and used to sell them over ten years ago. Certainly my choice for a glove. However, I would be upset and pissed off too. When a supplier does not communicate or communicate in a timely fashion, regardless of his situation, that is bad business. Period. It doesnt matter how great of a guy he is or how great his product is. With today's technology, it makes it very hard not to communicate with someone. A simple auto repsonse or note on the web page is all it takes to let customers be aware of a situation. Jeff Caron of Catek is a great guy. Great product too. Always meant well. However, he had unfortante things happen and the non communication thing happened. That pissed off a lot of people. All he had to do was put up a simple note on his web page that orders are currently suspended.
  6. Jacopo, if they were original Madd boards, they were either like new or NOS. I can assure you they are not back in business. That would be awesome if they were but I speak with JG regularly and nothing of the sort has been mentioned. Thinking of and actually doing are two completely different actions. JG had once said that Madd Snowboards would never die. The question is, even with all of his thinking, when would Madd come back? That is still unanswered. I can say that with JG being a flex pattern mastermind and Golden Ear, when he does come back to board design, his design would rule. Hopefully the project we are working on with the Madd Killer will hold us until that time.
  7. Thanks for your input Wes. Guarantee can not be put on the specs being the same. Irrelavant to specs, if rode correctly, the Madd delivered. The Madd Killer will deliver more when it's ready in relation to performance and fun factor. Rest assured, we have a group of eager, varied experienced riders and a builder all weighing in with solid experience. For some, even the original 158 was not an all day board. For others, like myself..it was an all day board. The fun factor and performance was addiciting and too much fun to even have any desire to want to try anything else. We are woking on bringing that back.
  8. Look at it this way..if the material was still available any Madd reissue would have used it. According to JG, who designed the originals, states that the material is no longer being made or available...... despite what other companies claim to label theirs. Others who have done extensive research on base material have also come up empty handed. Wes--those specs are off, particularly on the 170. If you find an old Snoboard mag--'95 or '96 issue(buyers guide), the full specs for the originals are in there. The Bx came out after the Originals. During the time of the originals, there was a very rare asym and their Freestyle decks.
  9. It's not the same. The Ptex5000 on the Madds was not the best for wax absorbtion due to its hardness. With that being said, it would not be best suited for a race base.
  10. The heel strikes look thin on those boots. Would a thicker strike help?
  11. Yea..that spec sheet is not for the originals so it means nothing. The set up and instructions are from the original days. I have the specs for the original 158, 170, and 180. Didnt want to post them..no need to and dont want to. I can say the specs of the reissues are much different than the originals.
  12. The base material is not still being used nor is it available.
  13. Shred is an animal. And a hardboot wizard. Dont mess with hardboot wizard animals.
  14. Great pic of Shaggy Hilux! I remember in the early 90s seeing ads in mags for the Original Madd--"Riders Wanted" with a pic of the machine itself. It was drooling material. Just heard stories about them, never ever saw one on the hill, heard they were super expensive and all of the associated riff raff. It was like wanting that Lamborghini but knew that you would probably never own one. Then one day I was at Stowe ripping turns on my Rossi under the gondi. A blur went by me and i caught a glimpse of "that board". Was that i Madd I asked myself? I wasnt sure so i chased the rider down the hill, trying to get closer to confirm my suspicions. Overwhelmed with excitement, I caught up with him at the bottom.....and bam! There it was in all of its glory--the Madd 158. "Is that...is that..is that?" Yea...it's a Madd..want to try it? Withing minutes, my bindings were on this board and it was like a whole new world opened up. The thing would auger into the snow..blown away. The rider was Eric Brammer. He hooked me up with Michael Cappaletti and Gilmour. I was on the phone later that day. "I have to have one!" A trip down to Boston one week later with $500 bucks and I was heading home with a brand new Madd158 in the plastic. Never looked back after that. My riding progressed to new levels on that board to where my next 4 plus madds were on the house--including a new 170. The boards were very addicting always laughing at the turns and situations they could pull me out of. Others soon recognized this as well. This board was way ahead of its time and continued to surpass the perfoamnce and quality of other decks many years there after. It still does in that regard. BUT...we are now onto this venture to bring back to carving the performance and high fun factor of what the Madd had to offer and we are surpassing that. Now there are some areas that cant be beat--such as the ultra durable base material--it is not made anymore unfortunately. I really wish the final product was ready for all to bring their riding to the next level. Soon.
  15. WestCarven, The specs of the originals Madd 158, 170 and 180 can be found in the1995 or 1996 Snoboard magazine buyers guide edition. Think it was 95. I have it somewhere.
  16. It is with great pleasure to hear your feedback on the proto Shaggy. Your feedback will certainly help in directing the board to where it is going. For those that do not know Shag, this is a friend whom I have logged many days on snow with over the years. He has owned and ridden many original Madds of various lengths(and the non originals), Oxess and plenty of others. Most importantly, Shaggy has the riding skills that remain consistent on every turn. That being said, he knows what this quest is about and Im glad that he has dedicated his time, knowledge and skills to help bring the board to its next level.
  17. POW--that would be great wouldnt it? Cant predict the future. An epic board can't be made over night. Testing, testing, testing...waiting on more results and then we will asses and move onto the next proto.
  18. Beck, that was for the other Erik...... got you via email.
  19. Erik, i just sent you a PM.
  20. Ive used white out on the screws for all of my madds with brass inserts, Never had any issues after manys days. Would have to redo it but not that often at all.
  21. Haha Fin. We would need Gilmour as part of the group and that wouldnt happen as he is too busy soaking up the sun rays with his turtles. I've replaced some of my releasable brass inserts with steel ones--at least that foot wont be coming out. Actually, whoever had issues with the inserts didnt use the proper length screw or accidently stripped them by not being careful. Gonna try to get a few guys together before the snow goes soft and see what we come up with. Dont forget, I bare a Madd tatt on my right shoulder..it wasnt easy coming to grips with the Madd Killer taking over.
  22. No GS at this time. Nekdut, these are all non metal boards. Beats the Original 158 in all aspects with the one exception I can not test--durability over time. The original Madd 158 had a virtually gouge proof base material that is not made anymore or is very hard to find. This base material was by far the best for east coast carving. The Madds held up from repeated daily abuse for years. I can let you know on that one in future years. I tried an Angrry for a few runs. Not even sure whos it was. It is a good board. However, Id still choose the original 158 over it. The Angry was made to mock the characteristics of the 158--while it fairs well, it would never surpass.
  23. Soon. More positive components may be added.
