  1. i saw some roped off runs. do they count?
  2. i have a pair that bob d. gave me. they feel a little loose.
  3. i was just out at welch today. conditions for carving were good except for the flat light. the bad news is they set up moguls on jon jon and duds dream (next to dan's dive). i broke my rear heel of my boot. i was just about to go down dan's dive. i was heading over to the start of the run when my boot popped out of the binding. i clamped the boot back into the binding but it felt really loose. i called it quits and went back to my car. that's when i discovered the crack. wonder how long that had been there. WTF!!! OVER!
  4. Send me a reply. Maybe I can talk some others to come up there to ride.
  5. I hope so... I like safety in numbers.
  6. i've got a t-board and a longboard from insect skateboards. i got more use out of my longboard than the t-board. on average i traveled 3-4 miles on my longboard thru my neighborhood. on the t-board, maybe a 1/4 mile in a parking lot if i was lucky. the t-board is fun to ride, but lugging it up a hill sucks. the wheels wear quickly too. i've had problems with the hubs breaking on the wheels. it makes an annoying clicking sound. you'll cover more distance on a longboard than a t-board. you're basically limited to going downhill on a t-board. with a longboard you can go downhill, flat and uphill (if you kick which IMHO is good training). on a t-board, you can't ride with an alpine stance. feet have to be 90 degrees to the board. kind of defeats the purpose for alpine training, doesn't it? my longboard is much faster than my t-board. everytime you turn on the t-board it slows down. i can pump it for short distances to the speed of a slow walk. on the longboard i can pump it almost indefinitely. i think the t-board is overrated (i bought into the hype). i don't see bomber advertising t-boards anymore. not sure about a carve-stick. looks fun.
  7. My ipod battery constantly needs recharging... Lasts maybe 2 hours. I just don't think they'll get batteries with the energy density hold a person to a board and in the cold. It would really suck if the battery got too low in the middle of a run. Voice recognition is a nice touch.
  8. The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. (Click) Pimp my ride! (Click) Anyone here board with ski poles? (CLick). Seriously, just wondering if anyone else does...

Its Festivus for the rest of us!!! The tower is a symbolic nod to Festivus. The tower represents the aluminum Festivus pole!!! It will be the place where we gather around at the top of the run to air out our grievances about the skiers, lift lines, conditions, etc. Afterwards, comes the Feats of Strength!!! No one can leave Buck until someone gets pinned to the ground. :D

i did. got there in the morning around 9:30am only to turn around and leave after standing in a long line that never moved. i guess there was contest going. they threw some boxes on milkrun and had a contest. i later learned they had around 200 contestants. i went back at 5pm. still crowded. they have 2-3 runs open. kids were sitting on the run all over the place. the snow base was actually pretty decent. i was surprised. i wouldn't bring out the alpine board for the next couple weeks until the terrain park moves to the other run. there were lots of kids building jumps all over the place.
  13. Subliminal message in the Sharper Image catalog. All your snow base are belong to us!
  14. Motorized balance board will someone please mount some plates on that thing!
  15. there's a company that sells skateboard bindings... lox skateshoe and binding. not sure if there's any benefit of a shoe/binding. mounting plates to a skateboard might be interesting for shallow hills. just imagine an eight-wheeled skateboard... with a skateboard brake system... with your plate bindings and some old boots. i would think it would be closer to simulating carving on rails -- you have two axis to carve on instead of one.
  16. anyone try mounting a speedometer or odometer to their dirtsurfer?
  17. there are brakes available for skateboards. kinda spendy. almost as much as a dirtsurfer. maybe the reason is the word bicycle implies that is has 2 wheels. but fear not! they make quadricycles for those who are feint of heart. :)
  18. my first board was a t-board. i liked it but wished i could use it on flat terrain. i have moderate hills nearby. walking back up was a drag. what's kinda cool is when you look down on the t-board its like your riding a hoverboard from "Back to the Future". my second board is a freebord. i never could get the hang of it. i removed the caster wheels and used it as a longboard. i didn't like the turning radius -- to wide. i bought an dragonfly with seismic trucks from insectskateboards.com. i really like skogging (skateboard jogging). there's a bike path near my house where i can pump the board and keep it going. its quite a workout. can't do that with my tierney. another plus is kicking the skateboard up a hill. with a t-board you have to walk up the hill again. with a longboard, you can change your stance any which way you want which makes it easier to emulate your binding angles. with the t-board your feet are perpendicular to the board. the t-board slows down with nearly every turn. i go much faster on my dragonfly. i once rode both boards one day on a very slight hill. i was carrying the t-board while kicking my dragonfly up the hill. it gave my arms a workout. i think the thrill was gone once i realized i wasn't going nearly as fast as my dragonfly. the wheels on a t-board wear down fast. it all depends on the hill you're riding. i went thru 3 pairs of wheels. one thing to be careful is not to drop the board down. the wheels hubs will crack. you'll hear a clicking sound when you ride the board. i had one wheel that disintegrated while i was inspecting it. i've posted pictures on bomber. search for "hubs". i've gone thru a bunch of torsion rings on the t-board. i wish there was a way to set it up so you didn't need to readjust it. now they have a new truck... probably not a problem anymore. i like both boards but i get more use out of my dragonfly. each serves a purpose. t-boards for hills, longboards for flats.
  19. here's one place. http://www.xshelton.com/users/kathy/balance_board/ i guess i over estimated the number of websites showing how to make your own.
  20. i have a vew-doo. its okay to stand on top of it while watching tv but thats about it. i think an indo board would be more practical because you can place the board any which way you want. not so with the vew-doo. i had a 4-inch piece of PVC laying around and a wide board. i placed the board on top of the PVC almost along the axis of the PVC. i put my feet perpendicular to the axis of the PVC. the movement was almost like snowboarding... like i was rolling from edge to edge. i didn't have any friction take so the board kept slipping out. there's alot of websites on how to make your own balance board.
  21. i'm all about being flexible (click link) when i ride a snowboard. ;) especially when i catch an edge!!!
  22. This has more promise . "An apparatus is attachable to a conventional snowboard to convert the snowboard into a snow scooter having improved performance characteristics in comparison to those of the snowboard alone." I'm all about improved performance. Oh, in case the link is dead, its a two handled snowboard. The drawing cracks me up. I felt the need to share.
  23. freebords... i bought one 2 years ago. i hardly ever use it because the thing scares me. i couldn't overcome my fear of getting hurt. i just got my dragonfly from http://www.insectskateboards.com. i bought it based on on some posts i saw here on bomber. i've only taken it out for an hour but so far i think its probably a better trainer for my needs than say the tierney or freebord. i have a tierney and its a fun board but i really wanted something for flat terrain. good luck with the freebord.
  24. i ordered a dragonfly just this week. looking forward to riding it.
