  1. Hi there! If you someday choose to break up the package, I'd be interested in the boots! I am a small female and have a hard time finding hard boots. thanks so much! Edwina Newbury
  2. Hi, I am in line to have a meniscus tear repaired soon. The MRI confirmed that I have a "flap" to be cut off, plus arthritis in the same (left) knee. I will be meeting with a surgeon next week. My regular doctor offered a cortisone shot, for swelling and pain. I have been cycling, hiking, dancing, with pain and swelling afterwards and sometimes during, but my stubborness usually wins out. My plan is to try to see if cortisone can boost me through riding season. I am afraid if I get surgery in January, I'll be out for the season. As the injured knee is the front foot, I feel as though it won't impact riding as much as if it were the steering foot. I'm not sure what the surgeon will say. I'm allergic to all OTC anti-inflammatory drugs, unfortunately, so all I've got is Tylenol. As tonight is New Year's Eve, I'll be dancing in heels- much more painful than cycling:) Ween
  3. It's Stephanie...great rider, one of the few chicks:)
  4. I'll be there Sat., poss. Sunday... Ween
  5. John, I couldn't agree more!!!!! Different boards for different conditions= maximum joy!! And of late, I am totally digging the deep pow! Of course, it helps that I suck at carving...:) Ween
  6. Head Stratos Pro - Mondo 23.0 These boots are like new. I tried them once and found out that my size is a 24! Must sell and look for another pair. Asking only $100 plus shipping. Paypal "gift" accepted.
  7. Woo-hoo!! Awesome freakin' day!!! It was great to see everyone- old friends and new!
  8. Yes, I've had 2 "flexier", reverse-camber board. One, from 2 years ago- Technine GlamRocker was a wet noodle, fun, but not extraordinary in deep stuff. This Fall, I bought a Never Summer Infinity, partial rocker- took it to killington in Dec. on a rare "Spring-like" day, and hated it. Too responsive. I like camber. Returned it and bought a Rossi Diva- nice amount of camber, but rocker tip and tail- just a bit. First day on it was in a snowstorm...LOVED the float! Needless to say, most other days (I go every weekend) are hard pack/ice/crud...this is new England, afterall. I still LOVE this board. It does it all. Holds an edge at speed, does bumps, feels playful, carves. I, too, have zero interest in parks, though I would like to try this board in a pipe:). Ween
  9. Hi Michelle, I'm new to the sport, as well. I ride a Rossi all-mountain, 148, and am 5'2", about 100 lbs. My carving board is an older Burton Alp, 152 cm. I have ridden a 156 and feel very comfortable. the faxct that you do well on camber, and aren't interested in parks is a good sign:). I just bought my first pair of hard boots- Head- new, 500.00, "used"- maybe once, if at all, 100.001 A steal. need to have them fitted, though- I've tried them twice, but only for 3-4 runs at a clip. They hurt! What angels do you currently ride on the soft boot set up? that is the first thing I did in soft boots- up the angles. I find the high angels, and the skill set it requires to turn at these angels, trumps the equipment change in terms of learning to carve- especially if you are already used to camber. I had 55, 40 on the Apl, but it felt "weird"- I usually ride all mountain at either 30, 15 or 15, 9. I brought the rear binding down to 30 recently and will try it this weekend. Turn initiation for me was harder at the high angles. I'm thinking the best approach is to change one variable (equipment, angles) at a time. As far as boots, in my size (23), there were not any options, so I grabbed the first reasonable pair I could find. I like them (they are very well-regarded), but I still think at my weight, I could use more forward flex. Nothing's perfect!
  10. I'm in! Green Door dancing afterwards...and this time, I'm GONNA DANCE!:)
  11. Thanks, Mark, once again, for hosting a wonderful Rally! You are the Man!! My suggestion for next year...MORE DANCING:)
  12. I'm relatively new to this, as well...just bring your regular snowboard, a tool to adjust your binding angles, and a sense of humor!
  13. OMG- I LOVE Boas! Have used Boas exclusively for about 3 years now- would never go back to any other kind of lacing system. "Speed" lacing is never speedy, regular laces require gymnastics or a willing partner, but Boa can be done on lift lines in seconds. I currently ride a medium-stiff Rome SDS dual Boa, but still use my old, soft, Flow single Boa boots for powder days or just when i want to feel uber-comfy and don't care so much about carving well. The dual Boa allows for more precise tightening (or loosening, as the case may be, and I find that they are more common in "stiffer" soft boots- which is what you want for carving purposes. I, too, am a fidgeter, which, unfortunately, drives me to "over" fuss with the Boas. I've busted 2 steel laces in 3 years, due to over-tightening and screwing with them. My new mantra is "set it and forget it':).
  14. Heading up to your hill tomorrow-maybe I can check out what you have to demo....
  15. I booked a room at the Hawk Mtn. Lodge for Sat., the 23rd...I think it sleeps 4-5, so if anyone needs a room, let me know. For you locals, I may be heading up there this Sunday, the 3rd for some pow- been furiously doing my Snow Dance!
  16. @Dingbat...clearly you don't remember how all those shots played out for me last year up at the Stratton ECES:)
  17. Will there be any hard boots, size 23 or 24 available to demo? I'll be on a Rossignol 148 regular board. Where are people staying? I need to book a room...also, will there be some kind of dinner reception Sat. night?
  18. Hi, Matt, I have a similar history to yours..are you going to Stratton for the SES in Feb? I'll be there Wed-Thurs...I'm headed to Park City in a few days with my son to ride some fresh POW (at least I'm praying for it!), then up to Stratton. I am currently using a stiffer soft boot with a used 156 carving board. It is EXTREMELY difficult to find demos, rentals, or used hard boots in a women's size. My size would be 24 or 24.5. They will have your size, most likely, in demos at Stratton that week. This is a guy's sport! Ween
  19. My shoe size is a 7.5 women's...I think that's a Euro size 38. Thanks for your help! It would be nice to try a hard boot to see if it makes any difference. If not, I guess it's just my sub-par ability. Maybe I should stay in the land of Denial:) I live in north-central CT. I don't recommend it!
