C5 Golfer

It has been a wonderful story – not the war of killing people but the stories the veterans tell 60 years later. My dad served during that time and was a WWII buff. He died a couple of years ago but it seemed he was there watching it with me – weird. I also served with the US Army 22 years after the war and was stationed for a while in Germany and Italy so it was of high interest to me when seeing some the film strips from the war. Some stories worth mentioning - the Native American from Montana who was brought up in the older warrior ways by his grandfather Chief and how he met the 4 requirements while fighting in Italy to be a chief himself. This guy even painted red war paint on his body under his uniform. Another story - The guy who returned from the Pacific Theater and called his mom and dad to tell them he was safely home and how his mom fainted, then his aunt and sister fainted while on the phone with him. To the best of all – Dan Inouye Senator from Hawaii and his stories of all his conquests and subsequent Medal of Honor. To the story of the way we treated African Americans during the war was/is beyond belief to the enlistment of Japanese Americans and sending them to fight in Italy while we interned their mom and dads. Some facts I did not know, USA asked Japan to surrender before they dropped the 1st bomb and they said no way, then they still wouldn’t surrender so USA dropped a 2nd bomb, Japan surrendered knowing they could not take a 3rd bomb but unbeknown to them USA did not have anymore. In the Pacific theater Ken Burns showed how the USA was surrounded in the Philippines and I they say it was the largest surrender of US troops ever. Approx 60 million people died during that war.

A fellow was getting ready to tee off on the first hole when a second golfer approached and asked if he could join him. The first said that he usually played alone, but agreed to the twosome. They were even after the first two holes. The second guy said, "We're about evenly matched, how about playing for five bucks a hole?" The first fellow said that he wasn't much for betting, but agreed to the terms. The second guy won the remaining sixteen holes with ease. As they were walking off number eighteen, and while counting his $80, the second guy confessed that he was the pro at a neighboring course and liked to pick on suckers. The first fellow revealed that he was the Parish Priest. The pro got all flustered and apologetic, offering to return the money. The Priest said, "You won fair and square and I was foolish to bet with you. You keep your winnings." The pro said, "Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?" The Priest said, "Well, you could come to mass on Sunday and make a donation. And, if you bring your mother and father along, I'll marry them."

Thru the Firewall inbound event log I see many access tries or hits on my computer ports -- I have blocked/banned all of those Source IPs except for a few that seem worthy due to the trace log. Am I assuming correctly that these should be banned or am I doing something that has an adverse effect on my connection to the wonderful electronic outside world?

My guess Dr D is that he either is unhappy about slow play OR he wants to play thru!

If everyone snowboarded we would not have to nuke anyone. If less people golfed I could play my round faster so let’s nuke anyone higher than a 20 handicap. If everyone had a gun we would have LESS crime. If we had more prisons we would have fewer criminals on the streets. If we had more republicans in office and on the bench we would have stricter and harsher punishments. If we would enforce the death penalty we would have more room in prisons. If we left other nations alone we could have a good national health care system. If we left other nations alone we could have a top notch public education system. If we spent more time in school we would be a living in a better USA.

Husband's note on refrigerator for wife: Someone from the Gyna Colleges called. They said the Pabst beer is normal. I didn't know you liked beer.

I'd rather see it machined out of lead for weight and then machine a 1/2" hole or so and place a steel plunger inside this hole. Then a CO2 gas charged pressure chamber is loaded so that all I do is place the club head behind the ball and pull a trigger on the grip. I bet I could out drive Tiger.

How a bout a Bomber Mountain Bike. that would be awesome. Make it a 29er please.

That looks like a woman I met in a bar one night -- it was real dark in there and I had had a few too many, anyway when we woke up the next morning that is what she looked like.

I made it to the finals in our club's Match Play Open division. (no handicap - playing scratch ) . I was beat early on in the winners bracket and after a long great summer of play I managed somehow to knock off each loser coming into the Loser bracket and won the loser bracket this week with a 5 holes up great scoring day with 4 birdies. I now have to play the best player in our club for the title.

Since I am out in the PNW and retired with no income if i pay shipping will you send me a drink in the mail?
