  1. will there be another gathering before the seasons end? i'd like to go, but unfortunatly the mri says i fractured my shoulder. Another 3 weeks off of the hill is in my future. It might damn near kill me, but whatever. Just want to see if you guys are doing another get together before seasons end.
  2. i ride burton drivers, and my angles on my freeride board are 39 front 27 rear.
  3. I'll be there pending the results of my MRI on wednesday. If all goes well, i'll see you guys there, maybe you can show me a few things so that i dont end up having to get another MRI in the future! :) Scott
  4. oops, forgot to mention, they are mens size 9
  5. Sorry for the soft boot post, but i have a pair of well used burton ranger boots that could use a good home. Im not looking for any $ for them. If you know someone (more than likely a beginner) that's looking for a way to get started in snowboarding in general. All i ask is that you pay for shipping. The boots are very well used, i took good care of them, but i've come to the realization that with my new hard boot setup, and my "soft" burton drivers, these boots will never be used again, so if anyone knows anyone... thanks Scott (bigpmpkn@optonline.net)
  6. how do you know if you need a base grind? and forgive me for sounding uninformed, but what does the grind actually do, and why do i need to do it? thanks Scott
  7. hey as long as you're out there, who cares how big of a fish you are!
  8. as a matter of fact, i wasnt going fast at all, just hit a little bump and it threw me off a bit. That's all it took. Hey, i see you're from upstate NY, where do you ride mostly? Im at hunter quite a bit. Scott
  9. well, its been a few weeks now since i discovered this site, and the things ive learned have been invaluable! I finally made my first turns in a hard boot set up yesterday, and i must say, although i consider myself a pretty accomplished snowboarder in softies, this was very different. By the end of the dayi felt way more comfortable on my set up. However, my shoulder felt way more uncomfortable after i bit it pretty hard. I cant even put a shirt on without wanting to hit the ceiling. This is just a minor setback though, and i must confess, this is pretty awesome!! Scott
  10. Eureka! i mounted my plates!......i stood in my setup in my house and it feels WAY more natural than it did before. my only thing is i feel like my front thigh is a little more weighted than my back thigh. im wondering if instead of the 6 degree canting plate it came with if i would be better off with a 3 degree? or maybe a toe lift? any advice on this? its way better than it was before, but not quite perfect just yet Scott
  11. I remember reading "snowboard life" a number of years ago. I thought it was a pretty quality publication. someone bought me a subscription to tws and i thought it was the biggest piece of junk out there. it would get to the point that i wouldnt even read it anymore, id just toss it. I cant imagine anyone getting anything valuable from tws. Its really ashame we dont have a good mag to read. You would think that one would exist. Scott
  12. im still seeing how long i can get away with pretending im a college student and getting a discount.........31 going on my senior year! LOL
  13. actually im using the 3 hole disk (burton board) is it done the same way?
  14. I know we talked about this in a different thread, but i cant find it, so i'll start a new one. how do you attach the canting plate to the burton race plates again? i finally found the plate, but i still cant figure it out! thanks Scott
  15. I see a bunch of you guys are hitting on the one thing that i was afraid of, board length. I was afraid that it might be too short. I guess im going to find out :).........the bindings did come with that cant plate, but for the life of me, i cant figure out how to mount it. It seems the screws that came with it (i bought it new and the package was unopened) arent long enough to mount to the board. I must be missing something, but i just dont know what it is.
  16. thanks for the tips, im going to mess with my setup tonight and most likely tomorrow night. I'll be taking her out for a test drive on saturday, and im going to leave my soft boot setup at home! Of course im sure conditions will be awesome, and i'll be on the bunny hill all day! LOL......Im sure i'll have a few more questions once i start playing with it tonight. Scott
  17. Here's where im at. This is my 8th year on a snowboard. I currently ride a soft boot setup. My board is a salomon fr 400, size 163 which is sort of middle of the road as far as flexibility is concerned, with burton cfx bindings, and burton driver boots. I ride goofy, and my angles are 39 front and 27 rear. With my current setup and some good conditions, i can carve pretty well. I cant get over like you guys can, but im okay. I just recently found this site and have found it very helpful. From reading some of the articles my carving technique has already improved. Id like to get more seriously into carving. A couple of years back i purchased a burton coil, size 156 and burton race plates, to get my feet wet. My idea of using ski boots failed miserably. I have just recently purchased a pair of burton reactors. I just need some help in getting my setup straight. Given the angles i ride on a soft boot setup, where should i start on the hard boots? as far as canting on the boot is concerned, i feel like im not bent at the knees enough, can i adjust the forward lean without any repurcutions? Any advice/tips you guys can give me as i venture into unchartered land would be appreciated. thanks Scot
  18. get well soon Rusty......might i add, with two shattered wrists, your typing skills are exceptional!:D Scott
  19. back in the day i had a '96 Talon TSI awd, and i had two dedicated sets of tires for the car. i ran blizzaks in the winter and bf goodrich comp ta's in the summer. i was very happy with the blizzaks, but im sure having an AWD car helped. WAY WAY back in the day i had an '85 celica that i did the same thing with, except that car was rear wheel drive. The blizzaks made all the difference in the world. I made countess trips to the mountain with no problems. I do agree that 2 sets of tires is the way to go. Maybe you could find a set of rims for cheap at a junkyard. You might also want to hit ebay for the tires and see what you come up with. Scott
  20. sure, id like to see some pics :) thanks Scott btw, do you ride it with soft boots are hard? when i used it i rode with soft boots, and it was still an awesome ride
  21. I rode one of these a while ago, and liked it alot..........anyone out there have one, or know of one that someone is willing to part with? Or know where i might be able to look other than ebay? Scott
  22. Hey Bubba, what's your email address? thanks Scott
  23. While we're on the topic, i'll be in Okemo for new years. Are there any shops in that area that deal in hard boots? thanks Scott
  24. thanks so much for taking the time to explain all of this to me, i really appreciate it. I want to make sure im doing this the right way! Scott
