    "Carved"

Hans, You da man, thanks for posting that brother. That was the first time I had seen it.
  2. Beautiful board, had I not picked up a 188 a couple months ago I would have nabbed this one. Best of luck. Somebody jump on this legend!
  3. That is great news Alex, nice work !
  4. Thanks for the confirmation, much appreciated.
  5. Thank you, no rush but if you get a chance please let me know what you find out. Pretty cool that you have the brochure. I have some old buyer guides and catalogs from Burton and have thought of posting the pics out of them. Thanks for the help. D

    "Carved"

$3.00 a minute is a bit steep, we will see, thanks for the heads up though. I was not aware it was that short, my TV should be up for the task (60" Pioneer Elite). We shall see...

    "Carved"

Has anyone purchased the "Carved" movie currently listed as for sale on the EXTREMECARVING Swoard website? I am curious to hear a review and would also like to pick up a copy. Thanks
  8. Thanks Chris, yes that is one of the few returns I found as well over the net. I was not however aware of the offset inserts. Interesting info. I have only been on the thing twice and it was a blast but as many have said, you got to put it away when the hill gets crowded. D
  9. Thanks Chris, I am fairly new here, can you direct my question to Bryan or tell me who he is? Thanks for the response. D
  10. After reading through these threads I am feeling extremely fortunate for only having sprained my ankle over the last few days while riding the freestyle board. Yet another reason for me to ride the hardboots more often. My best to all those riding the couch for awhile, get well soon. D
  11. :lol::lol::lol: that was good...ha ha ha
  12. I recently have been putting down some notes on the few old boards I have in the garage. I picked up a SIMS Burner a few months ago and was hoping someone might know what year they made the 188 with the triangular graphic in dark red and white. Thanks
  13. I am in for as many issues as you can create! Good luck with everything!
  14. I made steady improvements every year, even though I only get 10 days a year on average. I then got to the point that while I felt prerrty strong about my riding ability I also knew I was probabaly overpowering the board but still continued to ride it for another 5 years or so as lift tickets are pricey as our new snowboards. This year, 2011, I finally got some true alpine gear in a size that suits me (188 Sims Burner and 179 Donek FC custom made for me). On my first run I told myself to take it easy and get used to the new board. After two turns I felt so good I opened it up 100%. I laid over a toeside adn before I knew it draggin two forearms across the slope. I had been that low before but never with such ease and control. I instantly relaized that for many years my board was drastically limiting my carving ability and advancement. Needles to say that for those that have not tried some of the new boards, or tru alpine specific boards, do so ASAP as you will be amazed and the difference it makes. D
  15. Will be adapting to a new board 3-27, 28, anybody around let me know. D
  16. Ok, I guess I have to return to June after reading this thread. Anybody know how many detachable quads they have?

    Tuning

I am afraid I don't, as mentioned I am completely ignorant to the craft. I am confident he would be happy to give you his wax recipe should you ask him. D

    Tuning

So recently I got a brand new Donek and through word of mouth and strong positive recommendation I had it sent to SkiMD for the first tune a la Mike de Santis. I am completely ignorant to what is involved and always figured it was no big deal and there was not much to it. My first ride changed that opinion drastically. I stepped off the lift, gave one push, and the thing glided like no other board I have ever been on, since 1989. Again I am not sure what kinds of magic is performed but that is how the board felt. While on a fairly flat cut through my buddies were a good 100' in front of me. I over took them with ease with no extra effort. Just wanted to share my experience for those like me who do not have a lot of faith handing their board over to the local high schooler working at the local sporting goods store. D
  19. Nice, glad to see somebody using those dusty under used boards. Hope it works well for, heck of a deal! D
  20. For the last 10 years I have gone in to Wave Rave and offered them a hundred bucks to buy one of their old alpine boards. The responses have been: - "Those are 700 dollar boards", "People rent them all the time" or "I will have to ask the manager, uh he isn't here right now" My replies: They were that price in the 90's, 17 years later a hundred seems a fair price. The rental statement is my fav seeing as how they have not had the bindings or the boots in over a decade ha ha. I have even placed boards in certain locations and the following season they have not been moved and sit with a thick layer of dust on them. I will try again this year as usual, perhaps there will be some movement. They have sold a few as the stock that is left are all fairly short. Or perhaps they were in such poor repair they dumped them.
  21. Sometimes it is all about the previous driver/owner, my co-worker and I were talking about our vehicles and I said I was happy with my 93 mustang holding up so well for a 90's sports car with 160,000 miles on it. I was quickly shut down by her when she revealed that she bought her 93 Explorer new and has been religious about servicing it. It now has 430,000 miles on it!!! Generally you can follow the statistics but often times it is all about maintenance.
  22. Yes, Sunday was nasty, and Monday was worse but it left 12" of fresh and fairly dry powder. Tuesday was my best day of the year with ideal packed powder and open glades here and there. The new Donek was a blast to ride and I am now a definite supporter and believer of Sean's craftsmanship. I am back up on 3-27 for 3 nites, hope the weather agrees with us again.

    Helmets

Can anyone recommend a few high end helmet makers. I have been convinced I need to pick one up, especially after taking my first ride on a SIMS Burner
  24. Several years back a friend reluctantly told me a story of the time he was skiing bumps, planted his pole and experienced the perfect storm. The storm involved him falling off balance to the point...wait for it...he ended up inhaling the pole. (insert innuendo here) His telling me this was met with complete skepticism of course but after listening to the story completely and how ski patrol only cut the pole off and left it in place to transport him to the bottom and finally via ambulance to the ER, I was a believer. At least the gopro's are blocky lessening the chance for a similar occurrence, well hopefully anyhow...
  25. So I am not the best rider in the game and a good year for me is 15 days, however on occasion things click and I lay down some pretty deep trenches. The fact I am hauling around 280 pounds surely assists me in my winter excavation activities. Now on one occasion I saw a lady ski a bit parallel to my rut and slip into it, she lost her ski and went down. She was unharmed and I will admit I chuckled a bit. This would be the negative. The positive is that all the little kids love me as they use my ruts as half-pipes:)
