Did you remold the power wraps? I recently ditched my zipfits in place for power wraps.  The heel hold isnt as good but they cause fewer issues with my feet.  Zipfit will always be best for performance but are hell on your feet in the long run, I've found.  You can also cut some boot fitting foam to arch over the heel of your liner to increase heel hold. Put the red springs on before stiffer tongues.  This doesn't have to be a wildly expensive venture.  Don't make the same mistakes as me.

I did remold my Power Wraps, which definitely helped. I ended up buying some Zipfits, tried them on for about 30 minutes at home, and decided they were not a better fit than my Intuitions. So, I returned them and I'll figure out how to make my intuitions work. I slipped in some different insoles that I had lying around and it already felt like a better fit, so I think I can make them fit well with some trial and error.

I know, RIP to my bank account. At least I have already sold a pair of Deeluxes that I had lying around.

The boots should have come with red and blue springs.  I'd try the reds before buying more tongues.

Can also try this stuff for more heel hold:

    https://www.tognar.com/boot-fitting-foam-modified-ankle-wrap-pads-pr/

I thought the red springs were softer than the blue springs? Anyway, I've used Tognar before so I think I will buy some padding for my heel there. Thanks for the reminder!

  2. I decided to get some Mountain Slopes and rode them for the first time today. I walked around at home and had some issues with the stock liners. I have some Intuition power wraps from a previous boot and those felt better. They are still not quite right though - I could not get my feet locked down today, even after cranking my buckles down. So, I am going to try Zipfits instead. RIP to my bank account.

Fit aside, the on-snow performance was great! I rode the blue springs which were pretty nice. The forward flex is a bit too soft for me so I will get stiffer tongues. But the lateral flex is nice and stiff. Very responsive edge to edge. I'll follow up here once I get the fit and flex dialed in.

  3. @Jack M thanks! It sounds like the flex is pretty adjustable, so I will assume I can make the standard 100 flex right for me. Hopefully the heel is not too tight... I am in the MP 27 to 27.5 range so perhaps the C shells will have enough room to be snug without pinching. I will email Donek about the heel bails, but perhaps the standard bails will work 🤷‍♂️. If anyone has experience riding Mountain Slopes in F2 bindings, let me know!

  4. Alright yall, I am considering joining the yellow boot mafia. I like my Deeluxe T700's but I really can't stand the BTS system. My snowpants always get caught in them and they are so bulky. But before I drop $$$ on Mountain Slopes, I have some questions.

    1. I have a pretty wide foot, all the way back to my heel. My calves are pretty big too (long distance runner). I really love my T700's for that reason, although I did have to pad out the heel, ankle, and calf to reduce volume and eliminate heel lift. My forefoot fits really well. I have tried UPZs in the past (RC 10's, I think?), and even after going to a boot fitter to punch them out, they were unbarelably tight around my heel/achilles. Tight to the point where my foot would fall asleep. Is the heel in the Mountain Slopes as tight as UPZs, or is there more room?

    2. I've heard rumors that you need different heel bails for Mountain slopes. I ride F2 Titaniums. Is that true?

    3. I'm not sure what stiffness to get. I am thinking of the standards (100 flex). Are they comparable to T700's with medium/soft BTS springs?

  5. Two new Coiler Contras to join the one I already have! Decided to stick with similar graphics in different colors.

Blue - already own this one. 173 cm long, 22 cm wide, 10.5 m average side cut. Excellent all-mountain board.

Red - brand new! 162 cm long, 20.5 cm wide, 9 m side cut. This will be my short-turn and quick edge-to-edge board for the steeper, narrow trails at my home mountain. F2 Ti bindings.

Green - also brand new. 169 cm long, 28.5 cm wide, 12 m side cut. This will be my longer radius EC style soft boot board. It will complement my Standa Cheater 170 wide, which is awesome but has a much shorter radius. Ride C10 bindings.

This the exchange rate, these two boards together cost less than $1400 USD including shipping. Bruce is a miracle worker!

The Commissioner has been on my list of want-to-own boards for a long time! Interested in your thoughts once you ride it.

  7. @rjnakata ooo, good find! I just measured my BTS springs and believe they fit a 3/4" hole, and the Bomber site for BTS springs shows the length and spring rate (3" long and 340 lb/inch for hard toe springs). Based on those numbers, these are exactly what I need. But just to be safe, I will inquire with Walker at BomberOnline to see if they will be back in stock soon and/or if there are any other suppliers that he recommends.

The specs on the Winterstick Montucky:

    • 170cm length
    • Nose 256mm - Waist 190mm - Tail 240mm
    • Effective edge: 1550mm
    • 40mm setback
    • Magic @Johnasmo SCR shape relatively 11.5m
    • Durasurf 4001 base and topsheet.
    • Carbon/Titanal/Rubber layup.
    • Maple/poplar core.

Hey @dredman! I'm looking to order one of these after demoing it at the 2023 MCC. I demoed one of the boards with the wood topsheet. Do you know if the specs of those boards are the same as the one you posted back in 2021? Thanks!

  9. I might be in Aspen from Feb 7-10! Still debating between Aspen and some other Ikon pass areas, but Aspen is currently first on my list. I'm looking for the best grooming I can find, and I've (mostly) heard good things about Aspen/Snowmass. It would be fun to meet up with some other carvers who can point me to the good trails since it will be my first time there.

  10. Thinning out the quiver to make some space in the garage.

    • ***SOLD*** SG Soul 159XT. This one hurts to get rid of, but I barely ride it anymore. I learned soft boot carving on this thing. It has had quite a bit of time on snow over the past couple of years but still has a lot of life left. Still plenty of edge left and I haven't done any base grinds - just a bit of ptex here and there. There are a few dings on the edge of the topsheet and the sidewall and some binding rash. Otherwise, it is still in good shape. I'd say 7/10 all around.
      Asking $300 shipped ***SOLD***
    • Nidecker Tracer 157 Goofy. I bought this from someone and put maybe two days on it. It is still in like-new condition, but I just never ride it. So, it's time to let go.
      Asking $150 shipped
    • ***SOLD*** Nidecker Spectre Carbon 163. I actually just got this on eBay for $300. It had a little bit of delamination in the tail that I fixed with slow-cure marine epoxy and it seems just fine. I put one run on it and quickly decided it is not for me - too short and light for hardboots IMHO. But, maybe someone else out there wants it?
      Asking $200 shipped. ***SOLD***

Feel free to ask for more photos!

  11. Three boards that are new-ish to me for the upcoming season:

    1) Stranda Cheater 200. I’ll be hardbooting on it. Picked it up used, but it will be new to me!

    2) Swoard EC Pro 175 medium. I owned a smaller/softer Swoard a couple seasons back and I’ve been waiting to get back on one. Sized up for a 23 cm waist! I got maybe three runs on it back in May so it’s *almost* brand new.

    3) Coiler Contra 173, 22cm waist. 10.5 m side cut for some tighter turns. Still learning how to ride it. Not quite new as I got it last March, but I don’t think I’ve shared it here yet.

might try getting in touch with Loopback

he was looking to trade a Tanker200 recently, if I recall.  might be something there.

Thanks @davekempmeister. I would prefer a Cheater 200 and it turns out there is one for sale, so I'm going to go with that. Much appreciated though!

@svr2 Thank you very much for tagging D.T.! That is exactly what I am looking for.

I have a Cheater 200 for sale.  I have multiple longboards, so this thing has only been ridden 2 days.  There are slight binding marks and a few scuffs in the topsheet.  If you’re interested, DM your email address to me and I can send more photos.

Hi @D.T.! I would love to grab that from you. Let me DM my email to you so we can connect.

  13. For the Ikon pass, I really enjoy Solitude in Utah. I think their grooming is very good, although the layout of the resort is strange. I had fun carving at Brighton too - especially at night, which is unusual in the western US.

I have not been to a lot of places in Colorado, but I enjoyed some great grooming at Copper this past year (Ikon pass). Beaver Creek and Vail are also consistently ranked as having some of the best grooming in the country, and both are on the Epic pass.

  14. Looking for either a Stranda Cheater 200 or an older Rad Air Tanker - something 200+ cm long and cambered. I had the chance to demo a 201 Black edition at MCC this year and loved it, but I would like something with camber for better grip on hard snow. I also own a Stranda Cheater 170 W and love it, so I think a Cheater 200 would be a great longboard for me.

Let me know what you got!

  16. Hi all! I'll be up in Summit County for USASA's and I'm thinking about heading over to Loveland on Sunday April 2nd. Is there a regular meetup? Anyone planning on being there? Thanks!
