  1. Crap. The audio sync is off. Sorry, I tried a few different ways to convert it and it's always the same.
  2. http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5102511 Get it quick, my IP severely limits bandwidth when using Bit Torrent so it makes internet surfing a pain.
  3. Anyone else seen this show on MTV Canada? It's pretty interesting. It's a series of 1/2 hour shows. I assume it's not available in the US; is there any way to share a 270 MB video file?
  4. The 18-1/4" stance width position (second photo) is normal and expected by the board maker. Some real rough and quick math says that the 17-1/4" stance (first picture) will put about 50% more load into the forward-most inserts than the 18-1/4" stance if you ever put a rearward twist into the binding, like landing on the tail. Yikes! For the nerds that wonder where I got that number: The TD2/3 binding floats on the e-ring, if the upper binding and cant disk rock backwards the forward edge of the cant disk tries to pry the center disk upwards. The disk then pulls up on the bolts while pushing down at the rearward edge. The further the bolt is from the rearward edge, the lower the load is on it. The measurements seem to be 27 and 18 mm from the rear edge to the 3rd and 4th holes back (as measured on my monitor ;)). 27/19=1.5 times the stress. west carven - You can try some 'Gilmour bias' to narrow your stance a bit. You basically move the toe and heel blocks forward (towards the toe edge) of the rear binding and the opposite for the front binding. The blocks move more fore-aft than side-side at our 50+ degree angles. You can't get an inch though...
  5. 100% agree. Those were different times. ANYONE you saw on a snowboard was an instant friend, you'd wait at the top or bottom for them and go for a few runs together. Now most snowboarders are too busy portraying a 'tough' image to worry about such things. Not hardbooters.
  6. Fixed that for you. ;) It's not over, just irreversibly changed. There's nothing like picking up your fussy/annoyed kid and they instantly quiet down and snuggle into your chest because they feel safe and comfortable there. That thing called 'regular sleep'? That's over! I haven't slept for more than 3 hours at a time for 25 days, it's not as bad as you'd think.
  7. 1 more vote for SES here. http://www.bomberonline.com/ses/index.cfm It's a really fun atmosphere with a HUGE selection of equipment to choose from. You get a healthy discount on lift tickets with the Bomber crew. $100/day would be tight though. Staying outside of the Aspen area and driving in can save you a lot, especially if you can find other people wanting to do the same. My wife and I stayed in Glenwood Springs and brought our own lunches to the hill. Flying in to Denver and then driving to Aspen will save a ton too. Another option is to stay for only a portion of the week, thereby increasing your budget for each day.
  8. Received the Volkl SL today - exactly as advertised and packaged very well. This board is brand new and undamaged, it still has the price tag on it. Thanks! Just 3.5 months until I can ride it... :(
  9. ... you buy a snowboard from the classifieds in August even though you won't be able to ride it until mid-December.
  10. Congrats! You do get more regular sleep soon. It's still short but but it's more regular. So, uhh, I guess there were some nights in November with nothing to do, huh? ;)
  11. Some more photos below. I don't want to clog up the whole internet so I've only posted the pictures that I love best. Others are links for those that are interested. Pretending to be an angel in the hospital: http://members.shaw.ca/ckdyck/Annika/01.jpg With mom: http://members.shaw.ca/ckdyck/Annika/02.jpg With mom and dad: With Grandma: http://members.shaw.ca/ckdyck/Annika/04.jpg Serious with Grandma: http://members.shaw.ca/ckdyck/Annika/06.jpg Letting us know what she really thinks of bathtime: and http://members.shaw.ca/ckdyck/Annika/07.jpg All bundled up: http://members.shaw.ca/ckdyck/Annika/09.jpg Ha! Not for long! We're thinking her middle name should have been Houdini; she can escape from any swaddling in 20 minutes or less. One of the rare times she's awake: Pretty intimidating for a 4-day old, isn't she? http://members.shaw.ca/ckdyck/Annika/12.jpg
  12. Some of you may remember my pregnant wife Kris (on skis) from SES last year. Well, things got in motion a couple of weeks earlier than planned but we have a healthy baby girl as of 9:20 this morning! Kris is doing well too. Annika Lynne Dyck 6 lbs. 10 oz. 19" long I need sleep but don't care.
  13. Money is on the way for the Volkl SL!
  14. Haha, classic! Congrats Fin on catching the guy.
  15. Love the photos! Cute kid and happy dad. :D
  16. Uh-oh, I think the email got lost in cyberspace. Nothing in my inbox or spam folders. Can you try sending again or PMing? I definitely want that Volkl!
  17. Congrats! My little buddy is sitting switch with one foot down and one up right now. We're hoping for a late McTwist to go for a normal birth in two weeks. ;)
  18. I found this forum as a bored softbooter, then pieced together my first setup from the classifieds here. I've slowed down dramatically on the slopes, I went from being a slightly out of control speed addict to a carving/G-force addict. I've been through 3 promotions at work and am 4 weeks away from being a dad. It feels like just yesterday when I found BOL... I guess not!
  19. How to post pictures: http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=256483#post256483 Added picture to show it works:
  20. Good list! I can definitely concur with 1, 2, and 4. The tranny backlash seems to be a Subaru thing. I've got the 05 STI tranny in my WRX and have driven every year of STI but the current one, they all have that sloppy feeling when you're on and off the throttle in low gears.
  21. I should note that all of my experience below is from driving student's cars at autocross schools while demonstrating driving technique. I also have a limited amount of time driving an STI on the street and doing timed laps on a road course. For pure driving passion, any STI is FUN! To really drive it at it's limits requires a closed track as they're quite quick - enough to easily earn you an imprudent driving ticket. They understeer more than a sports car but it'll be a revelation compared to a truck. ;) Carrying 4 people is a nice bonus! They're glorious when you open the throttle on corner exit. The center diff controller is quite good; if you floor the throttle and steer the computer will adjust the balance from 57%* RWD to a fully locked center diff to ensure you get where you are pointing the front wheels. It's not perfect but it's always there trying to help even mere mortals feel like a driving god. Applying throttle while steering can solve a LOT of problems in an STI , assuming your problems weren't caused by going too fast in the first place! Replacement brake parts are $$$. Rotors were $200+ each when I checked a couple years ago. I wasn't impressed with the 09 seats, it seems they've gotten wider and wider with softer side bolsters every year. It's not that they're bad but I'd pick my 02 WRX seats over the 09 STI seats. All that aside, I still want a new STI. :) Sorry, I can't comment much on the other cars you mention. Though if the R32 AWD system is at all like an Audi TT system, I'd pass. The AWD TT I drove was basically a FWD with the rear wheels providing some forward thrust. It was quick but not even in the same league as an STI for sheer fun factor. * Not 100% sure about the 57%, I know it was 65% RWD for the early cars when the center diff was unlocked and it went down from there.
  22. Turbo Subaru = bad gas mileage! I get about 16 mpg in city driving with my 2002 WRX wagon and up to about 21 mpg on the highway if you're not passing on a two-lane road. I have a 3" turbo-back exhaust (with a cat) and a Cobb Stage 2 tune which doesn't help mileage. Going to the 'economy' tune sucks the life out of the car and gets only 0.5 to 1 mpg better. No thanks! It's worth every penny of gas when you get to play on slippery abandoned roads though. The base Impreza 2.5L we rented at SES did fairly well and still had enough power to be fun, it got around 27 or 30 mpg on the highway if I recall correctly.
  23. Maybe send an email to Michelle at Bomber? They likely have an array of boots and TD2/3s sitting around and could actually test. Or they just plain know from design/experience what boots fit.
