Swoard redline look very similar to PHK

I've just found "Limited 4 You" bindings. Available from here(polish language) http://www.shaman-snowboard.home.pl/sklep.html They look quite 'homemade' and price is less than 100$ :-)

Link is dead but Limited4You was a rebrander of bottom barrell snowboard equipment sold in supermarkets and sports chains in Germany and Eastern Europe and for the rental market.Out of business for a couple years. Since were talking about active manufacturers...

Does it come with lift or cant shims? I assume it does not as they advocate to ride flat.......

I dont know, I only saw them IRL. Very snazzy and small profile.

  3. They do indeed, last year a Czech store offered a killer price on UPZs in May, and keep an eye on German ebay and make sure you have the ‘ships only in Germany’ option ticked, many sellers have no problem with shipping abroad if you first ask them

    Randy,

I"m quoting myself from another thread:

    Regarding bias and boot shells:

It's not so much the toe and heel edges of the boot that matters, it's the transposed contact point at your heel bone and metatarsal heads that count. Those are the load bearing parts of your foot, and 'a' means of transmitting inputs to the board, so they should be located similarly with regard to the edges. When in doubt, bias toward the toes.

If that needs clarification or further explanation, check back in.

Still feeling the post-Easter effects so I might be a tad hazy here but if the manufacturer center line cannot be trusted thrn how could you transfer the center of your foot located inside the boot shell (obviously with footbeds/liners) to mark a reference point on the exterior? An idea with neodyme magnets comes to mind but wondering how you would approach the subject :)

Just got back the Jackson......and I thought it was awesome. Would have ridden the Coiler 180 the whole time but I wanted to do the Alta shoots and couple of others that are a little narrow for a 180 race board. Yeah it sucks for carving....except for all the places it didn't. There is a run called Grand that is freaking epic. Don't know how I didn't find it before but I was off on Thunder mostly then. Grand rivals the best that Baldy in SV has to offer, it is a little shorter but holy hell that thing was butter.

I did find several other runs that were butter too but couldn't tell you the name or how to get there. Top half of the mountain was carvy winter snow and the bottom half was corn turning to slush. And it was fun and all good. I did raise a few eyebrows getting on the Tram with plates.....so it goes.

Apologies for coming off too aggressive in my previous post, I will keep this in mind that JH does have carving opportunities :)

Thanks all. The mobile version of the main site is not updated yet but the desktop version has a menu with links to the forums and tech articles.  The mobile site is  on my to do list for next week. Thanks for your patience!

Ah yes I was on my cell phone the past few days and no access to a desktop, you are quite right the desktop site is up and 100%. Jack, if we ever meet I'll bring a whole carload of the best  Polish craft beer, you most certainly deserve it of course with Fin and the mods.

  7. Thank you for those responsible for the hard work, I know how hard a database transfer can be so congratulations and kudos for a great job.

Id add a link from alpinesnowboarder.com to the forums:)

BTW I hope Jack/Fin you looked in the legal details of transferring a forum including personal information especially from a defunct owner, these things can get very complicated very quickly

  8. Quite right, he had this elitist Euro thing going on and interjected the strangest associations at times. But then again trolling is the de jure standard of society today, from media to politics with the troll king himself as POTUS.

Also did some resaerch but found  othinh on “FES”. Must be some kind of conspiracy.

  9. Sounds like a winner in the eyes of the Olympics, its all about youth appeal, ratings and audience numbers nowadays. Theyve tapped out the freestyle SNB well but think PSL is worthless, so why not a balls to the wall DH/Super-G event that ends in spectacular crashes? Just allow the participants to wear padding.

  10. Yea I thought Parrot’s run was the best. And not a fan of the format in the finals, honestly three runs is too much and then selecting the highest obtained score and not an average is kinda meh. So the rider that performs three exeptional runs can still lose out to the guy that wipes out twice bit luckily nails the last run with some dumb luck.

  11. Generally, the front leg is your support whereas the rear leg is your suspension hence always working (not just when riding, even stopping or standing, or when sliding on the slow). As far as anecdotal evidence goes,  its either the rear thigh muscle or trunks muscles that first give out and tell you your day is done.

As far as hiking and biking are concerned, these are almost entirely aerobic activities due to their endurance nature (unless you're repeatedly sprinting up mountains or involved in competitive MTB or velodrome cycling..). I forgot the numbers but SL/GS performance has a 60-70% anaerobic component, with a high-intensity interval nature not found in biking/hiking. That doesn't mean that more anaerobic activities are "more beneficial" (e.g. weight lifting) per se, but for our recreational riding it certainly helps :)

Michael, can you post a link to your review?

The search function did not find post with plasma.

My mistake, I only posted the board in the new board porn thread. I will write one up over the weekend.

Michael- I'm thinking along the lines of a slalom race board or a lively freecarver in the 168-175 range. My longer board is a Stubby 175 but it is too tame for me. I bring it out when I just want  I cruise with the wife.

Ah ha so somthing a bit demanding and no cruiser but no balls to the wall race board. What kind of conditions do you ride in? And wide open slopes or narrow northeast chutes? Plasmas do not like ice for example and generally are most at home on wider slopes but with good snow. PS I know its probalby impossible but phil's recommendation to attend Carving Masters in Austria is a great opportunity to test the wares.

I did not see any review on the plasma snowboard but the wood topsheets sure look good.(plasmasnowboards.com)

I'm almost positive I reviewed my 185 Plasma CE someplace here. Phenomenal and beyond beautiful board, very well built. Great carver.

Marvin, if you like the performance of race boards than definetley look at SG and I can STRONGLY recommend Goltes, it's like a mix of SG/Donek/Kessler especially the My Way which is Jani's top of the line board. It is just balls awesome. However if you're going in this direction than I'd downsize, I should be riding a 185 but on a 180 or 175 I can do anything I want without getting tired.

I've ridden Swoards, Pogos, Xtasy, Rabanser, Kessler, F2, Virus etc etc so most of the European brands but it's difficult to recommend something without knowing what which direction your aiming

  14. My first car was a 68 Chevy Chevelle that I restored throughout high school and college. I so regret selling that car esp considering how prices went through the roof. Afterwards  I caught the BMW bug and have been driving everything from Mini Coopers to E30s to E39s. Almost snagged a z3 roadster. Had three e30s once! Im a huge fan of BMW tourings, they are the best damned practical but fun vehicle to daily drive.

  15. Most definitely, I did the due diligence to find a reputable powdercoat shop and anyone else should do the same. Its not rocket science but the devil is in the details. For example, the shop I used applied some kind of coating on threads of the bails to prevent them getting coated. I can imagine the nigthmare of trying to screw stuff on powdercoated threads.

Spray paint even with a clear coat will not hold up to the abuse our bindings face, especially step ins. I tried. Maybe if I sandblasted them first to promote adhesion and then used primer but then it was just easier to pay 25 bucks to have them powdercoated.
