  1. Not really, whos right and wrong (and at fault) will be critical in the following lawsuit for damages and compensation.

Ryan, thats something Id mention, that hitting the downhill skier can end up costing you a fortune let alone the knowledge your carelessness actually hurt someone. I remember reading that some skiers even git jail sentences.

  2. Heard very positive things on the Dual2 and Extremecarving gen 5. I only got to try the Pro2 and was very impressed, very very stable ride even with my questionable EC skills, and a big step over the Gen4 I remember riding (even though the Gen4 already was very easy to ride). Im 220 pds and can say I would use the M if i rode on ice most of the time, H for a mix, and XH if i was on hero snow like you, but for length considerations Id go on the extremecarving forums and ask the guys who built the boards on what you should consider.

  3. Just wondering, besides a loss in camber for whatever reason is there anything else that happens to a board as it gets older?

Does the board generally soften up or stiffen?

Rode a 15 year old board recently that was in storage for some time and it just felt weird, like the flex was wrong, no edge hold on the hard stuff, no pop. Almost certain the base doesn't absorb as much wax as it used to. On another board I noticed the topsheet is starting to lift at places.

  4. Thor gloves work well but come up just short of the elbow.

The iron on gore patches are worthless, mine held up for 15 minutes. Id apply a nice transparent coat of Bison liquid rubber or AquaSeal. Had no problems washing gear and applying a DWR coating.

  5. I just bake em but some comments on getting the liner into the shell. Get another person to place the liner on your foot, hold it nice and tight around your calf and then put on some (tight) panty hose over the whole shebang.

Then when you place the foot/liner combo into the shell, have your helper pull UP on the liner to prevent any wrinkles. The strategy I use is start sliding in your foot/liner with a friend pulling up on the liner the entire time, get the thing in but DONT put any pressure on your heel just stand on your forefoot. Have the helper again pull nice and hard on the liner, making sure everything is properly wrapped, when you drop your heel into shell. You can then hold onto the liner when your helper buckles you up starting from the 2nd, 3rd 4th/5th, then 1st

  6. I have a pair of 700s but the Salt Lake City version with the race tongues and someone said theyre the stiffest out there but I doubt it.

But I can easily mod the flex of the boots with my spring system, have two sets stiff and soft, and three sets of liners, one super soft red Thermoflexes, Intuition Powerwraps, and a pair of ultra stiff Intuition Gold IDs. If I had another pair of soft tongues Id pretty much have the golden package.

Upz boots require A LOT of bias towards toe. I made a mistake of not knowing that at first.

Bias towards toe but with boots centered over the binding? Or do you mean that UPZ boots overall require toe bias, and is that on the rear and front foot?? Thanks for the info, I still ride in Deeluxes but am planning on switching over to UPZ as Im tired of them falling apart every season.

  8. Ditto on what Neil said.

    1. Moldable liners are for just that purpose, even in the hands of an expert bootfitter you may have to have the liners remolded a second time. With the proper padding on and around the foot during the molding process you can feel like your wearing slippers but have the foot locked down and in power mode when riding.

    2. Ill agree HB isnt ideal for bumps but it can be fun. You need to get down really low, like fully flexed knees, and work as one giant shock absorber. A common issue is boot stiffness. Im not a fan of riding in unlocked but try riding with the rear (and only the rear) foot in walk mode. Or invest in a spring system to get them boots a bending.
