What are people getting for a lifespan, on the original T's? Of course it is all rider/mileage dependent, but just curious.

These bindings were at least 10 years old and the toe/heel blocks were last inspected 5 years ago. Used about 10 days per season?

  3. I'm heading up to Okemo for MLK weekend and will be planning another trip in late Feb. We were set on Stowe but I'm also on the hunt for something more lowkey. Not looking for any nightlife or food/drink scene obviously, just some good carving runs, dependable snow, and decent lifts. Any suggestions to those who've ridden Mt. Sunapee, Attitash, etc? Or just stick to Okemo and Stowe?

  4. I have one. Its a lifesaver, made the most boring part of tuning into the funnest.
I would practice on an old board to get the feel of how to use it as its easy to goof and slice off an edge section... You have to apply the right amount of pressure and maintain a constant working velocity.

I use the medium wheel for setting an edge and then use the fine for regular tune up. Ive never been able to get such beautiful polish out of an edge, now its easy. Medium is two passes max, with the fine stone two or three passes and youre done.

This and a nylon roller brush that connects to a electric drill have been the two best additions to my toolbox. You can ditch everything else, all the files, guides, brushes...

My memory is leaking that @SHREDSURF's glorious return to alpine was short-lived.  So gung-ho. new RC12's, Full Carve 170...almost certain I spotted everything on the Ebay by the summer of '19.  I recall he said the boot fitting was awesome however.

Oh and I agree.  One Northeast Ikon/Epic inclusive forum would be sufficient. 👍

Holy f, why the RC12s for a first timer? @Shredsurf Ill give you free lessons at Hunter or Windham if youre still interested.

Ill do my own bootfitting this time but again Keith has popped up as a good bootfitter.

  6. We decided to risk it and get the Epic Pass with 7 day reservation window. An interesting observation is that we saw a huge increase in the number of visitors to local attractions here in NJ/NY. Hiking trails that used to be empty on the weekends now require you to get there by 9am otherwise forget about finding a parking spot. Anything outdoor related is slammed with participants - biking, kayaking, canoeing, roller blading, fishing whatever. The uptick in people soing outdoor activities is huge. We are hedging that a lot more people take up skiing/snowboarding this season...

  7. Millennial here, we have nothing to worry about.

Had no savings or investments in 2008 and no savings or investments in 2020.

Only difference is student loans paid off, and talk about a shitty ROI on that one.

  8. First day of the season for me and first time ever hardbooting in America, and first time in Hunter NY, got two good natured “wheres the other ski”, one very positive “wow thats a monoski”, an “interesting contraception” and a “I dont get that, whats the point” from a typical Karen on the chairlift up. Kept quiet, didn't want her to ask to speak to my manager... Overall a very good day.

  9. I think Swoard has some sort of demo program available in Switzerland, like Zinal is literally the next valley. The Pure Boarding guys also might also help you out, I think theyre like 20 min outside of Zurich. If anything Id concentrate on Purr Boarding as theyre a real board shop, Id think they have an array of boards if their style/board shape isnt your style.

  10. For me the snow/trail characteristics defined setback if I felt the centered position wasnt working. Natural snow cover with big runs made me shift the bundings from centered, artificial snow and narrow runs Id go up one or even two holes!

    I have both XL NX2-GTs and L NX2-CXs.

My Driver Xs fit better in the Ls with less fidgeting, but do work in the XLs, you just have to spend a little more time adjusting them.

Also, on Flow NX2 bindings in general, there are two different adjustments slots on the pivot points that allow you to adjust the bindings for low or high volume boots.

    cheers

Thank you sandy, just one final question, how would you rate the responsivness and stiffness of the GTs vs CXs, esp with the hybrid strap? I love(d) the standard Fusion strap when I had my old Flows and the Hybrid strap seems more marketing over actual performance improvement.

I used 10.5 Drive Xs and had no problems. The key with Flow’s is to take the time to setup the straps to match your boots.

Low volume boots are harder to setup on larger Flow bindings and cause an awkward fit.

If you can, you should take your boots to a shop to check fit before you buy the bindings.

10.5s with Ls or XLs? Couldnt find any local shops with NX2s as of now and I need to push the button as there are a couple of online auctions with smoking deals.

    Maybe.

I'm using Driver X boots (10.5) this year model, which is known for low height or flat boots on NX2 Fusion.  First, the over-covering strap on top of boots is something that needs to get used to it.  I noticed that I don't want to crank them to be too tight. it interfere boots going in and most of all, it give too much pressure on top of boots that feel squashing my feet too much.  I loosen them bit and switched footbeds that not too high arch to get comfortable.

I think I missed you mentioning this, but do you have the Ls or XLs? I also ride in 10.5 Driver Xs that I stuff my 11.5 foot into and just wondering how much space is left in the binding. I.e., would XLs be too big and require me to crank down the boots to painful levels.

  14. Testing of well, stream, and river water around ski resorts revealed some pretty shocking concentrations of perfluorochemicals. Let alone local dumps where thousands of pounds of wax shavings end up. I've seen the amount of wax a junior race team uses and it's incredible. Who knows if the polymer resins that have recently sprung up as an alternative to waxing might be the real future. Hmmm..
