  1. The board would certainly qualify I think, but J&P are currently not promoting the type of riding I described. I think if they would make some new videos featuring the board they would sell a lot more of them
  2. I think poppy, lower SCR semi bi-directional boards could become a trend for hardboot riders. If you watch the playful styles of PureBoarding or CasperCarver it seems like wild fun to everybody. I think it closes the gap between hardboot equipment and freestyle mindset. Let's make fun in the first place
  3. Damien Sanders, Jacques & Patrice, Joerg Egli? Damien doesn't fit any category actually. Just as he would like it ;)
  4. Sorry, I just couldn't resist balancing that list :D
  5. We've had the same problems a few years ago. Learn from it and get it right in one go, but I'm pretty sure reason got lost somewhere in the debate. But it can happen to any public service if you let it slip. In Belgium there is a huge shortage of prison cells.
  6. It always was semi-private and it got even more private a few years back. Now the whole sum is paid by you to the insurance company instead of rerouting tax money. Basic insurance for everyone is about €90 / $120, any extras you pick you pay more. It's also possible to get it cheaper if you pick more 'own risk', it gets even cheaper, about €70 @ €665 own risk. It means you have to pay the first €665 yourself, the rest is free. I have programmed a health insurance registration form on a website a few months back, so I know about anything that adds up to the calculation, and the price is the same, even for people that are 110 years old. Most of the time kids your kids are insured for free. Extra's could be: - More luxurious hospital rooms - Someone to clean your house and help with other matters every day if you're disabled - Better dental care With a basic insurance not everything will be free, you will still end up paying for some medication, everything but very basic dental care and some more things I can't remember right now. Not everything is completely free unless you pay a lot of money every month, but it would be pretty hard to end up with huge medical bills. I never heard of anybody actually. To tell the truth we're not always too happy about the quality of our basic retirement homes, but it is possible to get a better home if you have more money. You can refuse treatment if Jesus tells you so, or any other reason you can think of. I'm not sure about letting your children die in the name of Jesus if their life is not sustainable without medical action is legal. I actually think it is.
  7. Nursing homes: I'm actually not very knowledged about that part. I believe you have to pay the actual rent, but not the basic medical aid. You can have more service if you have more money, but the basics are paid for everyone. Terminally ill people don't pay anything at all ever, I'm pretty sure about that from first hand....:(
  8. Well you will be fined and jailed right now and you're not even living in a socialist country! Would you accept an America where you don't pay taxes at all because there is no government and without any form of involuntary taxation by your community? Would you dare to live in America without any form of real centralized defence for example? In any growing community first people start to create leaders, then laws, then taxes.
  9. There are many forms of "socialism", you shouldn't mix up China's version of socialism with ours or Scandinavia. People will go where more money and freedom is, or at least seems to be. In many ways China and Russia are more like America than Europe nowadays, pure capitalist greed, only great for those with the money. If you need handouts by your family, friends or community to get by if you get into unforseen trouble, you're doomed if you're new somewhere or simply not liked by your community, because you happen to live your life the way you want to live it instead the way the community wants you to be. Could happen in America too if it would be a smaller country! It's about unchecked capitalism, about the same cause as the current American crisis. I really don't understand why a wise guy like you either doesn't want to know what he's saying or deliberately tries to put things in a wrong perspective?...now you have someone like Aisling believing Iceland being bankrupt has anything to do with socialism! If you're so sure about your stance on this subject, why are you trying to spread FUD?
  10. Situation in Holland: I pay about €125 for everything and this is uncluding better dental care coverage, about the only thing I have to worry about at my age, and some other small extras. Basic insurance is at least €83, it will cover the most important things but sometimes you still have to pay if the drugs you get aren't on the list. These fees are the same for everyone I think, elderly people or people that have battled cancer before too. To me it's a lot of money since I rarely have any health issue, but it's a luxury not having to worry when I do. I think it always looks like a bad deal for a lot of people until it's too late. ------ Actually I have never heard anyone talking about making it optional. Lots of people still feel it could be improved on.
  11. Total pressure on the board and shifting weight back and forward. I'm still just starting to figure it out though.
  12. If you pay at maximum 50 euro for unused old stock you're okay. You need to do a lot of mods, not only the BTS mod to make it a good boot in my opinion (same applies to Head Stratos). If the fit is good it might be worthwile to take it anyhow and put some work in it (I like it better than Deeluxe personally), otherwise skip it.
  13. Isn't the heel part totally open for snow after the extensive cutting that is needed?
  14. Some problems with the lower end Head/Blax shells are shown here: http://www.extremecarving.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5993 An Italian guy built his own solution: http://www.extremecarving.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6167 So basically none of the 'off the shelf' solutions work for this model.....
  15. http://www.wired.com/magazine/2010/01/ff_newrevolution Isn't it amazing? I'm not sure if you could really ride a 3D printed boot though. I don't think the plastic characteristics would be right. But you can make molds for substantially less money than just a few years ago. It would be totally crazy if all kinds of garage based companies could ramp up mass production as fast as big companies can. That would be the second industrial revolution!
  16. You could get a cheaper board and bindings without sacrificing too much fun. Even World Cup riders use cheaper F2 bindings, your boots are fine with a BTS and maybe some new liners. For €1000,- / $1500,- you can find a very decent setup, all new. If you shop around for second hand, demo stock or NOS even for less.
  17. Head boots +1 Better liner, better buckles, better plastics compared to the Franzes. Head boots are really comfy as long as your foot is not too narrow.
  18. Boarders aren't the people that plow perfectly groomed runs into mogul mayhem
  19. I think Oxygen already quit making boots before Burton quitted.
  20. So in order to keep something looking free you need rules about the minimum bagginess of your clothing? It seems like alpine boarders are the only people enjoying freedom nowadays. So if I wear baggy pants in a SL event this automatically outlaws it in SBX? BRING OUT TEH MONKEY SUITS!!1!!!111 :1luvu:
  21. The most toughest challenge the snowboarding industry has faced is getting the very obvious performance of hardboots while still making what is technically called a softboot. Because the long list of rules in the name of freedom that makes the 'Core' religion says thou shalt not rock hardboots. There are so many 'strengthened' (i.e. plastic) parts in modern softboots some people mistakingly take them for hardboots. "But they're so hard, this can't be softboots".
  22. If you can upload a video on YouTube everybody from over the globe can help you with your technique. I guess most problems beginners face are really easy to spot, maybe you'll notice a thing or two yourself if you compare it to other movies.
  23. I always kind of wondered why Deeluxe went from two to one AF model and from one SB model to two, while the AF boot is much, much more modern.
  24. Did you experience any problems with your old setup except that it was old?
