  1. oh yeah I say hi to Tim Tuthill too although I do not live in Arizona
  2. I am playing the selfmade shamisen so much that I now consider my netbook mike to not capture the true scope of its sound so no updated clip . . . anyway I have san sagari tuning on this one and having a lot of fun . . . and I found a couple of very inspiring clips on youtube under "lapstick" guitar so I am looking forward to the next project :) <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FSn074s8NA4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZUcRy8q1fss?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

  4. really gotta thank you skatha for that shamisen pointer - only thinking in western terms music I would have chucked my first homemade although thinking of it as a success for making any sound but I have been playing for hours on it uh amateur japanese style which is sort of possible on this thing :) (stay tuned for that showing off sound clip sometime later on) also I want to share the pics of the neighbor's diddley bow using the whole balcony as resonance body oh well he is only half hearted about any musical ambitions though not to mention some general weirdness in his persona so although looking cool this really doesn't warrant a a sound clip yet :)
  5. best alpine snowboarding clip of the summer 2011
  6. shamisen great (only looked that up just now sorry) also there's quite some didley bow inspiration elsewhere on this forum . . . since as a Japan fan and a snowboard didley being sort of impractical to play in the car awaiting taxi missions I figure I shall build an electric shamisen . . . <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Z1fTbDJiyrM?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> as for the clip above I got the intro down already and as for the theme starting at 1:36 I really yearn to play it again afterwards with the amp on . . . <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0p_yo_VGOSw?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  7. ****ing fantastic :) uh so is that yourself on the first vid @ bobble (see comment above) . . . somehow or naturally this has revived my guitar playing I bought strings for my acoustic today (after the rest of the old in part broken set was used on the homemade) and thought about buying an electric next and not getting into the next homemade project soon but snowboard or snowboard parts / bindings is a great idea I shall think about that sooner than I thought :) off off topic but I also like the youtube clip I have included on my blog there . . . another slight motivation to pick up the guitar more often again . . . uh yeah . . . sorta stoked :)
  8. anyone else built maybe an even more advanced model yet? I figure the next one shall be slightly bigger and include a pickup . . . SOUND CLIP
  9. 990 for a game I should dig out some of my old Amstrad CPC cassettes I guess . . . as for domain names when I saw that offer for this "snowboardslist.com" ****ty domain name this reminds me that "snowboard.com" is also out there as in unused ever since that huge community has just gone offline . . . should keep an eye out for this one to show up on ebay maybe
  10. I am only marginally interested but yesterday the FIS announced new requirements for skis used in the world cup competitions . . . so in rough terms they gotta have less sidecut be a bit narrower and longer than before . . . safety was stated as the reason with regard to speed during turns especially in GS and that they would give the ski industry some time for development for financial reasons so this is to be effective for the 2012 / 2013 season . . . as for the manufacturers some think this is cool others think it's not I think the Fischer chief said this could throw competitions back to the times of Hansi Hinterseer (a funny remark he was an austrian skier before the carving skis came up and now delivers questionable performances as a singer) . . . among others Benjamin Raich is quoted to have voiced concern about the dangers of wide skis already before last season (and actually got injured in a GS or SL last season I think among several others as far as I remember) and the austrian coach stated his approval about the new requirements and thought this will likely not affect the recreational sector skis or just add a new flavor rather than replacing current designs . . . or it could widen the gap between race and recreational skis . . . anyway that's what I just read in a paper over a cup of coffee . . . guess this will hardly affect alpine snowboards . . .
  11. I think some team event would be nice or a GS without a P like in earlier times but then again I feel happy enough right now about whatever two instead of one events at the olympics . . . gonna watch
  12. . . . thanks for a link although I can of course or unfortunately not read it :) I checked out a couple of sites when I wrote the news post on my site and even some more after reading your remark - anything other than a regular PSL was not mentioned on any of the over 10 sites I checked out and definitely the official olympics.org announcement and the post on the austrian fis / oesv site do not mention anything like that neither so I can only remain considering this to be a rumor only . . . although even if it was true I would not be sure about epic fail I mean I would not even mind a mass start event :)
  13. austrian team chief commented the only other wish they would have had that was not recognized was a team event now that would also have been cool maybe 2018 . . .
  14. . . . so after all I settled for the term "Riders" :) and another software (wordpress with weblog community functions) . . . and this is it I have fooled around enough with software options for reworking the site and will stick to this system since it also seems to be the most reliable and in the course of this stoked.at has become freecarvers.com so everything is at freecarvers.com now . . . after a couple of not so great years I am having fun again continuing the site in this way and will add stuff from time to time . . . check out the site as you like and let me say thanks for your earlier support woo that was quite some time ago when I first did the stoked.at site . . . so thanks + best carves to ya, Bernhard
  15. . . . unfortunately there is overly eager antispam software out there . . . so far this seems to have affected 5 users whose accounts I have activated manually so they are online and login should be possible now . . . also I have included info about this after the join page now so future users who don't get their email will know what to do . . . sorry for the inconvenience stupid problem that also bigger sites have only that some of them think of mentioning this right away of course . . . ;)
  16. " I don't shred, I am not rad and I ain't your dude. So do you want to go ride?" well what can I add to that I changed "Members" to "Shredders" but couldn't agree more with what you wrote . . .
  17. . . . a community for freecarvers . . . site is online since yesterday and could have turned out worse actually I think it turned out not bad but the only interesting thing in this regard is your feedback . . . as for me I always wanted to do something like this and a software has become available so I set up the site also the alpine snowboarding news weblog started at stoked.at is continued there and several of the stories posts and pro rider interviews are archived in the articles section a couple of features including a chat are only for registered users, uploaded clips and photos and the profiles can be viewed by everyone without logging in unfortunately though so far the photos can only be viewed in original size once logged in I will try to open that up so that they can be viewed in full size also by visitors stoked.at stays online as a site with some cool content and I hope you enjoy the community site . . . . . . http://freecarvers.com . . . JOIN NOW :)
  18. canadian sirs are great and won all of the PGS of the season - until yesterday :)
  19. yeah I found it quite funny too that sigi recommends learning first turns on a hardboot setup because of the more direct feet to snow contact :) guess it's alright from a hardbooter's perspective and I can only agree totally I did the same and it was a blast :) (transistor is referring to clip #2 of the Groveling Mutant Kook Workshop on the main austrians clips feature at http://stoked.at/austrian_riders_clips.html)
  20. I just uploaded another 9 exclusive clips today - sort of 'bonus clips' in the context of the main austrians clips feature so I only mentioned and posted them on the shredboard in the pro riders thread there ... http://stoked.at/shredboard/index.php?topic=35.0 still most of it is action on those ones and some good action too so also if you don't speak german they are worth a look I reckon :)
  21. about an hour of clips with sigi grabner and other austrian pro riders although as good as that might sound they are mostly talking in german and a ratio of about 9 MB per minute might not make it worth for you to seek out the action sequences cut into several of the clips anyway I am happy about them being available again since a lot of them were never on the net before and others only appeared on a related site that was discontinued a couple of years ago ... (on the clips page of stoked.at)
  22. http://www.irfanview.com/ great for viewing and basic operations like resizing images, adding a text caption or creating thumbnails
  23. did you really need to say "so that the cuff touches the toe"? all the best for a good recovery - at least it happened when you were doing what you love I ruptured (not totalled thankfully) achilles last season for basically no reason and got a broken vertebrae C7 in this one and none of it happened on the slopes okay then again I am thankful that nothing bad ever happened on the slopes ... again all the best for recovery ...
