    Madd 180 - sold

jack, this thing really gets fast on steeps!!! had some "fast" experiences (read: fast=falling) at Northstar last weekend ;-)performs so beautiful on blue's though... i love it!!! waiting to the end of the season for some video footage. need to get better first...
  2. hi kendrick, thanks so much for your response. have you actually read my thread? ;-) This is what I wrote: Still no response from Jayme.Anybody knows his current email address?
  3. Cross post with TahoeCarvers, but I need a quick repsonse...: Hi Everyone, I've been on a hardboot setup about 7 days, and feel it is now time to take a one-on-one lesson to really get the hang of the right technique. I feel confident enough on the setup, but don't feel like I am "carving". The earlier I take a lesson, the less I get used to the wrong technique. I checked the bomber instructor lookup for California: http://www.bomberonline.com/community/instructor_lookup.cfm I found 3 teachers in the Tahoe area. Since I have a voucher for Squaw, I wrote to Jayme Flo. I haven't gotten a response in a week, so am I am wondering if anybody knows if he's still around? If not, are there any people on this forum that have teaching skills? I personally think it not only takes some skills to be a great carver, but also being able to convey the details. All the theoretical write ups from bomber and the Almanac sound Latin too me. Is there anyone that would possibly give me a lesson for a few hours? I'd come to your resort (I have a season pass for Kirkwood), and pay you an appropriate rate. Get in touch with me and let me know what you have to offer Thanks P.S. I will be in Northstar tomorrow (Saturday) with a skier friend, so if anybody is there tomorrow, maybe we could ride ONE run together and you could take a quick glance at my riding and give me some pointers? Don't want to abandon my ski buddy too long, but that'd be awesome!! I'll also be in Tahoe City on Sunday, and would consider to do the lesson then, at whatever resort (ideally Kirkwood?). Just thinking out loud and seeing who's out there...

My boot is 28.5, and the bindings were used with this boot before. $20 plus shipping (They fit in a USPS Medium Shipping box, so it should be around $10 for shipping) EDIT: they come without screws, sorry... SOLD to lucky jetskier
  5. dwayne, entertainer.com forwards to a German page (which is great since I am German ;-) Is this really the website you meant? Couldn't find a December #47 issue...

  7. Indeed. Beautiful. Please don't shoot just for your enjoyment.
  8. Last time in Kirkwood while waiting for my ride, I had 2 boards leaning against a wall of snow, the base of the boards facing the street. Then I hear a young man yelling from across the street: "Hey, you! What width are your skis???!" I yell back: "Those are snowboards!" He looked puzzled and a bit embarrassed too
  9. Thanks Guys. Grease sounds great, and I double check and make sure the pins are aligned centered.
  10. Thank you but I know that I have to do that. That's not it. It seems to be fine in dry conditions (at home), but not on the slopes.
  11. So I had my first ride on the new to me Madd 180 with used TD2's last week. When trying to pull on the cable, I had major difficulties releasing the bindings. I arrived at the bottom of the hill, my upper thighs burning, pulling really hard and forceful, until I let myself fall to the ground because I could not stand up with my burning muscles anymore. I then was able to use more force and finally got the bindings to release. This happened pretty much every time. I checked my boots while not being stepped-in the bindings, and pulling on the cable works just fine, the pins move as they should. I also have no trouble with my old Blax bindings. Do the TD2's just need more force? Is it me or something wrong with the set-up? It really looks like it's set up correctly, and the pins perfectly slide in the binding when I step in. Any ideas or suggestions? Going on the slopes tomorrow and dreading using the TD2's. Thanks!
  12. One of the workers at Kirkwood asked me if that is a "mono ski". Then right before boarding the lift, a gal from behind yelled over "sick board!" It was only my fifth day on hardboots, but the comments so far make me excited about what else I'll get
  13. Bought some old Blax Toni boots of ebay for about $30, they are amazingly comfortable! Carver's Almanac says they are considered softer = for freecarving. Great for me as a beginner though. Actually, PERFECT
  14. for some reason i think this is shot in 2009 with a crew digging out some old gear
  15. hey aisling, i only read the past three pages or so, and since this is a public forum, i'll just have to jump in here with my answer to the question "why are you single?" first of all i think this is a really dumb question, very shallow too. do you ever ask anybody "why are you in a relationship"? as if there were are norm! i too got this question a lot. "oh, how can someone like you be single" blah blah BS! some people just don't fall in love easily, or are lucky to easily find a partner that matches and get that fireworks et al. and i usually just answer with the simple and honest truth: "because i haven't met anybody that i fell in love with". i was single for 8 years, and it gets really annoying to be asked this question. i definitely started questioning myself too. remember, YOU determine the norm and NOT society!!! i'd rather be a long-term single then a serial-monogamist.
  16. Here are specs that were give to me:
  17. Read this latest article with detailed info on resort openings in Tahoe: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2009/11/19/state/n170625S90.DTL
  18. hey, is that the SL or GS tiger?
  19. i did NOT say i am inspired :o but i will take your advice (riding harder)...
  20. dear bordy, i must clarify: i accept everybody's opinion, it's all good and valid. don't get me wrong. i highly respect all the pros and long-time members here. i check this forum every day because it's so interesting and i learn a lot. i just asked "can this style be achieve with freeride boards, and is this a swoard?" i was also surprised to see this, because i have never seen anybody doing this on softies before. this whole thread just went a bit off-topic in my opinion, when i just hoped for some education. does that make sense?
  21. guys, have some slack no matter how you call what he's doing, if he's good or not from your perspective, if you are tired of the whole eurocarving thing, i personally just haven't seen anybody ever doing this on softies, and i REALLY did not know you can get so low. just a basic beginner question from me, keep that in mind... thanks to those who answered objectively starting to like those smilies
  22. check out this chart from sierratradingpost: maybe you find stuff there, or at least manufacturers/brands. UPDATE: just checked their website, and they have quite a few superwaterproof pants: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/d/4276_Mens-Ski-Pants-and-Bibs-and-Suits.html
  23. In case you are being ironic, I meant to write ExtremeCarver. Not that it makes a difference ;-)
  24. just came across this video, and was surprised to see what's possible with softies: http://stevedold.com/snowboard/tahoecarvers/20011208/index.html (click on the "Peter eurocarving video" link) can this be archived with most freeride boards? or is that a swoard in the video?
