  1. muahaha, welcome to hell! for me, it's always a tossup between unscrewing/rescrewing 9 or all 11 screws per foot for any adjustment on my TD2s. i don't have to turn any bails around, but even if i did, they're spring-stopped anyway!
  2. you could see if Rain-X on your goggle lenses makes any difference. i've suggested this many times here on bomber for all sorts of issues but i don't know if it even really helps with any of them :) it's good at repelling water and snow for car windshields. they just slide right off if you have some speed. if you have a fresh coat, it really doesn't take much speed at all.
  3. Been to Homewood twice some years back. Don't really remember anything about it except this one badass groomed black diamond slope called The Face. Visible to everyone out to the parking lot, and no one ever goes on it (at least, on the days that I went), so its conditions stay pretty good for pretty much the whole day. BOL member Sinecure is likely to be able to give you info about Alpine, should you PM him or somefin'.
  4. It's been said that Len has already settled on not joining the discussion here, maybe because of all the initial opposition against him and perhaps decided that there was no way anyone here would be convinced to deem anything regarding his actions in his own favor.
  5. one quick answer from an SI user (did not read those links just mentioned, and this same answer has probably been mentioned a few times in them): the only, single gripe i have is that, (this is kind of a conditional situation) depending on the time of day, temperatures, weather, and other general conditions ; i get snow stuck to the bottom of my boot as often as before every run, and i have to use my TD2-adjusting T-hex to poke off the snow; much of the time, the ice is stuck too hard for just my gloved fingers to remove it. unfortunately, i get an unreasonable sense of desecration from the idea of having a stomp pad on my plank, though the snow-on-boot thing would not be a problem at all with the right stomp pad... swipe, swipe, click, and you're ready to go. DaKine Spike is a popular pad amongst SI users.
  6. yeah; that's why i didn't even post here in the first place. wait.. :)
  7. because an eligible, active subscription for cable/satellite is required to view most of the replays :( my cable isn't eligible. if someone wants to lend me a login to use to watch the PGS, feel free. don't be shy :p
  8. bump. still wondering if i'm missing something, or if i really am stuck with seeing the finals round and probably a couple other individual races with americans for the ladies' coverage.
  9. problem is, neither of us have a login to watch the replays with
  10. so, i was trying to get everything figured out in detail in another thread, no responses yet. i'll ask it here, too! there are two timeframes listed for men's PGS, while having only an hour-and-a-half window for women's, sounding very much like we don't get to see female QFs. is that right? the only timeframes explicitly stated, with no clarity on being QF or finals, on my local schedule are: F: 12a-1.30a M: 1p-6p M: 8p-11p requesting some clarification.
  11. r.i.p. mr. squirrel. that was... done by a carver?
  12. hey anke, on this page, go to the "Full-Event Replays" tab and watch away. you may want to bookmark this page, as navigation from the main page may leave you inadvertently catching a glimpse of spoilers if you're trying to avoid them. no commentary on any of the footage i've come across, which is a plus in my book during the action. edit: okay, i take that back. only some of the full-replays, but not all, can be watched. if you have one of any eligible service subscriptions, then it seems like you can watch any of them.
  13. wow. that was a steal. i wish that.. i needed another pair of boots and came across this earlier :)
  14. ah wow, okay. it must be the same with the out-of-US sites (i wouldn't have known 'cause i hadn't checked them yet through proxy). i guess you can watch full-replays too as well as live over here if you're in the US. what's particularly neat is that there's no commentary, which most of the time takes away from the action in pretty much any sport if you're watching attentively IMO, though it's nice to hear athlete background and trivia during the in-betweens. bookmarking that page may be a good idea for any replay watchers; if you navigate from the mainpage, you'll likely run into spoilers if you're trying to avoid them. edit: okay, i take that back. only some of the full-replays, but not all, can be watched. if you have one of any eligible service subscriptions, then it seems like you can watch any of them.
  15. why anyone would think the scent of vinegar is an upgrade from cat urine is beyond me. scent-wise, how 'bout baking soda? sprinkle some in your liners, leave it overnight, shake it out the next day. and perhaps sprinkle more inside your liners and inside your socks the next few times you go riding.
  16. thanks for the links. anyway, i'd like to be clear, if that was at all partially intended as a response to me; there's a good chance i'll neither be able to watch the races in real-time via stream nor on tv. i'm planning to taperecord these, as they're airing on a day that i'm very likely to snowboard, at a time that i may be too beat and sleeping during the broadcast times.
  17. perhaps someone in the states can help me out here. the only PGS i can see, not-so-explicitly stated in some cases on the airing schedule at nbcolympics.com is: F PGS final: 27th, sometime between 12a-1.30a M PGS: 27th, sometime between 1p-6p M PGS final: 27th, sometime between 8p-11p the above are my best deductions, and possibly off. no airing of women qualifiers? ripoff. am i reading this right? it's pretty hard for me to tell. if it matters, i'm on comcast (not digital) cable in sacramento, pacific zone of the states.
  18. ye. at the small cost of a couple seconds and a few extra keystrokes, everyone remains happy, and it doesn't keep those in the know from sharing enthusiasm and talking it out with everyone else who has seen the results.
  19. while we're here on the subject of trying to put in our opinions and change policy here, i'd like to voice mine. it'd be nice not to have spoilers in thread titles. next, thread titles created such that one not wanting spoilers would know not to open it are nice; otherwise (including in threads not with an olympic event as the main subject), it would be great for someone to include a spoiler warning at the beginning of a post or at least two line breaks from said spoiler. spoiler warning at the beginning of an OP is also good enough warning for one to stay out of a thread. hope to make a relevant analogy. i'm also a heavy lurker of a videogame forum that has a forum section for each individual videogame (gamefaqs, probably the biggest videogame forums on the internet), and it uses the above rules, applying to all spoilers from any videogame, even if that game's subforum is not the one being posted in, and regardless of the age of any videogames in question. i can't imagine those forums being able to thrive at all without spoiler control. people in the game having trouble can still read the forums, reading/searching/asking/contributing for tips/hints/solutions and easily be able to avoid spoilers, while those who don't mind or would actually like to know a large event can just read ahead. to me, coming across the PGS results in a thread title would feel very analogous to having a big event in a videogame spoiled to me (though i often don't mind that happening, and don't REALLY care if the PGS results get spoiled, but still prefer to be able to catch the action without knowing rankings ahead of time). having the above rules enforced for maybe a few days or something after an event would be sweet. really? sounds absolutely reasonable to me, at least until after initial airing has finished in their area.

yeah, that toeside shot is the one that got me off. i do like in that heelside one how it looks like you're glaring into the camera as you're riding by too. great stuff.
  21. i don't think you even need a proxy. at one point, i was allowed to watch from episode 3 onwards to current episode at that time, but didn't immediately have the time to watch it. finally, one weekend, i wanted to sit down and watch everything that was still up for stream, but the nasty surprise was that none of the episodes worked for me anymore. tried proxy too to no success.
  22. don't you have to explicitly volunteer or give consent in order to contribute to ratings?
  23. To expand on this, I think I read somewhere on these forums (or tech article?) of someone advocating doing, to an extent, the former on heelside and the latter on toeside, reason being that your front heel is most capable of exerting pressure near the center of the plank on heelside, and rear toes on toeside, due to their locations at relevant times throughout carves. This isn't really advice, but maybe some constructive thought and experimentation will result from it :o
