I certainly can't argue that but my request to narrow it up by about an inch was overridden by those that know this board is going to be written by soft boot Riders also
Yes, although it is long it turns quick yet has great stability at speed. I did find it a bit much at the bottom of Heather Canyon's exit yesterday. Very tight set of tiny switch backs at the bottom to get back to the runout trail.
Hi Dan, yes, that was yesterday at Mt Hood Meadows. Not sure. I want to go up this next week on a day that is good carving weather. Mon or Tuesday perhaps but I don't decide until that morning. We have a "Conditions report Page" on FB if you are interested. I post there along with Jim, Mike and a few other carvers.
It does have a nice side effect. This is my "Tweener" board and on the very soft groomers where I would sink into deep grooves, it prevents the binding / boot drag.
Mainly due to my oldschool habits. I prefer steep angles , I know that is not current theory , just what I am most comfortable with. Years and years of riding narrow boards with big feet.
A while back I started a Facebook Page that is focused on larger snowboards. If anyone here is interested you are welcome to join . https://www.facebook.com/groups/657643737705447/ "Bryan's Big Boy Boards" :)
I recently got a chance to ride my new Maverick (Now Stranda) 200cm "Cheater" in fresh snow, it is really stable and has great float yet rips as a soft snow carver too. I think I have found my new "Tweener" for those fresh snow days of 6" and or soft groomers.
Yes, I deleted your post!! Watch the language. Swearing will get the post deleted and potentially a time out followed by a ban. In the absence of management we will continue to self regulate my friends!! Bryan
I have only ridden hard boots for a few years now. Used to split between , hard, soft , skiing, tele etc. Those were the 100-150 days a year. Now that I am old and getting a bit worse for wear I am not getting all that many days in.
So sorry to hear about your ordeal!! Welcome back home!! Hospital is no fun but when you are that hurt it is WONDERFUL!! Glad you are alive and healing!!
Glad you didn't get hurt worse. Make sure you have someone around you the next 24 hours. Just in case. If you indeed have a TBI or concussion, you need to make sure you do NOT suffer another soon. You are now more vulnerable
The older Viste was basically a slab of plastic that does slide but is in contact with the top sheet throughout the turn. Less "Disconnect" yet it does add some dampening (if by nothing else just the weight) The Donek, Boiler Plate all slide and "Bridge" the space between binding mounts. This tends to insulate the ride a bit more than say the Viste and plates that mount to the top of the board. This is similar to Mike Tinklers original designs. The actual PLATE that you use has a lot to do with the "Feel" and Feedback to the rider. Example. The original 5mm boiler plate was very stiff and definitely provided a platform with a great deal of insulating effect. The "Light" or 4mm BP was more popular because it allow more flex. My modded 5mm provided a much better ride IMHO for free carving. Lots of options and development will continue. Try everything you can!!! Find what works for you!!
