  1. slow when leaving a turn. id say its more of a technique problem but i know ive improved a lot and it shows on my 163 so im starting to lean towards a board problem
  2. today was 20 below in the morning didnt really warm up much all day its always humid here in the summer for the most part, makes bike riding a pain , im consuming 6 liters of water or more on a ride i think thats 2 gal?
  3. ya im jelious of your weather. last year was brutal it was very cool and damp, i think there was a record amout of rainfall, we're do for some cali weather
  4. well initiation may have been poor wording on my part. it just doesnt seem to transition well. i expect it to be a bit of a chore at slow speed, even when i start to get going with it. its like im driving a 75 fleetwood. nice and stable till you turn
  5. ya i dont like to carry much either but im going to try start doing some pretty good milage this year solo. the saddle bag might work ill have to see how much i cram into it. thanks for the link might just be the ticket.
  6. anyone here do long distance cycling ? im looking for a something to attach to my seat post or rear forks for a bottle of hammer gel, or parts (i.e. tire/tools rain jacket) any sugestions? or how to mount things to keep it light?? i was looking a route im training for , looks like lots of open space and few rest areas
  7. what factors should i consider about taper when looking at a board?? and how important is it?. im asking cause im in the market for one, i wanted a volkl 178 but im gonna pay a $1000 by the time it gets here with shipping currency..etc.. so used or f2 cause they're local. I'll be replacing a 178 proton that for the life of me i cant ride with getting pain in the lower part of my shin. my 163 volkl is a dream boat and its not an angle/binding thing possibly technique, but is very unresponsive, and heavy. i also noticed that it has no taper, which may be why im having trouble with initiation of turns.
  8. bump! im out of the bidding, sorry
  9. i was doing that for a long time, i found that i just wasnt balanced correctly on the board. i was on my back foot too much on my heel side.
  10. thanks jack. is it a very stable board when carrying a good speed? im looking at the 178 GS i got a 163 SL older model, its a really nice board to control. i guess im being a bit brand loyal.
  11. im looking at getting a new board, but no one around here demos what i want. im looking at the volkl RT , f2 speedster RS, anyone have a review on them? all the riding i do is on ice and i think it be for some fall line riding. anyone?
  12. mansfield is private i thought?.. id say horseshoe, they got some cheap days, wed and sun i think. i find that all the other surrounding resorts just dont do these boards justice, and blue can be a long drive sometimes. But if your just getting started then maybe lakeridge. skyloft is smaller i think. oshawa ski club rents alpine gear, maybe they have something to accommodate these boards. i started at lakeridge, hope this helps, happy turning!
  13. i think ive only seen about a dozen here on ontario, and most do seem to have bombers, id day ten of the 12. couldnt we get and estimate by the amount of bombers sold and consider the amount to be a percentage of the total riders out there, maybe figure some percentages for catek, F2,.... keeping in mind that most people have multiple pairs just my 2 cents.
  14. im 180 lbs, not too aggressive, still working out the kinks in my technique, the core isnt chipping, and looks pretty good for camber. i managed to finish riding on it that day, felt pretty good, nothing unexpected. i think ill just wait for a good used board, in the mean time ill give it a shot on the repairs.
  15. after an accident with some guy in whistler, my board appears to have de-laminated, the core still seems ok. It's as if when i wiped out , i fell in such a way as to overload the nose and the top sheet popped just ahead of the binding. is it fixable??? oxygen proton 178
  16. i have the same problem on my proton (178), older model ,has red down the entire length and some white/silver on the sides by the bindings, i think for me it might be a stance width issue, its set up the exact same as my 163, yet i have no problem riding it,
  17. no tunes. i personally cant focus. and i cant stay aware of others on the hill
  18. i cant seem to get off the green hillls, i can turn on my toe side pretty well, but my heel side is terrible. i cant seem to transition well side to side and when i do always seem to turn too much to my heel and stop/slow down. this problem is on both boards i ride 163 and a 178 both are 58f and 55 rear with 3 lift front and rear minor cant, 3 deg i think, i tried to widen my stance by moving my front foot fwd about an inch. i felt like was pivoting on my back foot too much maybe i still am. if theres anyone who knows what they are doing who can teach those who dont, let me know...
  19. 20 cm waaaaa? time to start waxing the quiver
  20. when are they planning on opening??? anyone know? i hope before december. going to be cold for at least the next week or so.
  21. can we get some production numbers, id like a set
  22. ahh ok, thanks for the insight. +1 for cap
  23. this thread is a good read but, how can you tell the difference between them?? (cap vs. sandwich) are there any visual clues? id like to have something to consider with my quiver.
