  1. anyone ever been to big white in early - mid january? im headed out there i hope.. dont really know what to expect especially in an el nino winter. also, does the powder there really necessitate a powder board ?. im in the market for a 4WD or ATV style board anyway i hope that would be enough
  2. i fixed my proton with a two part structural epoxy , i think its used mostly for installing fenders/quarter panels on some imports. only about 15 cure time..seemed to hold the board together pretty well. doesnt look good but it holds together. i gave it a several hard tests.. ouch! my 2 cents
  3. everything ive said is no different than whats in the report, or what the parents know. not worried about that,
  4. no i talked to them , the on site medic's looked at him got me to fill out a report, i left like 4 runs after that. wasnt in the mood for boarding, what scared me most when we hit, i looked down hill and saw the kids helmet go flying, and i thought the worst. he was all dazed and had a mouth full of blood from a cut cheek or something, i cant shake the image.
  5. so what your trying to say talk to an attorney.. haha ive got a copy of the incident report and any paper work about it. i just dont want to get lynched for an accident. and was wondering if the waiver would cover me. it reads ticket holder assumes all risk or personal injury..etc,, i just feel terrible about being involved with an injure kid
  6. neither parent has coverage which really surprises me. and they said the dentist told them the kid would need dental work in the future for it. so that right there makes me very nervious about the whole thing and neither of us were more up hill , i dont have a pic of it, but my board has a small bit of damage right square on the nose from it. i dont think it could have been any more square
  7. well i got in to an accident the other day with a 9 yr old kid, i knew he was beside me on a toeside turn and when i came back around on my heelside he was still there so begain to try to slow down to go over top of him, i lost an edge and he went down hard . he could not have known i was there, we were side by side on a blue run , he has 4 chipped teeth and the parents called me and are expecting me pay for all the dental work. would the waiver on the back of a lift ticket stand up in a legal matter? we arent in court but i dont want it to. i feel bad enough about it i dont want to be some kind of monster in a court with a 9 yr old kid. i broke off a few square inches of his board and managed to demo mine as well. and i really dont like the way the parents are talking..
  8. do any of you guys ride GS boards down the double blacks at blue? ive only ridden my 163 down memory. are the other blacks wide enough for say 180+ ?
  9. +1 for not liking the crowds. but my biggiest complaint is the 8-10 yr olds and there parents practicing "the falling leaf " on blacks and on hills where you cant see over the crest i ve come sooo close a few times to railroading a child. im not the best out there but thery want to practice that stay to the side.. my 2 cents
  10. ya i agree with that. crusier and the one it merges with are the best bet. waterfall is my confidence building run. also on the south lift . havent really ventured into the double blacks and blacks over by the north end, maybe this week.
  11. i didnt find anything availible to rent or demo when i was there in december.
  12. what year is the board? i dont know it the specs changed at all. also how much would you be looking for it? theres a couple sigi 's on ebay ..
  13. as a heavy diesel mechanic i feel i should say ive seen some effects of biofuel. yes they smell like fries and is cheap but, ive also seen damage do to it clogging up injectors and fuel filters and pumps. also some starting/gelling issues in certain cold snaps. mind you these are heavy duty engines that put on 200,000 + kilometers a year. and your car may never see 1 million + km in its life. my 2 cents
  14. i know they have there specific advantages id really like either of them. and narrow stuff is my 163 volkl i like to have some options
  15. as the title says, let me know what you got thanks!
  16. wow a bag like that i could carry a 12 of beer and a picnic basket. move over energy bars here come the subs
  17. im going by US mesurement and im going solo, ive got an idea on route, i know of a few places i can stop, gas stations and convience stores , never even concidered churches. i just want to have the most that i can to be self sufficient. with out being to heavy. camelbacks i really dont like the idea of carrying any extra weight on my back. your stuck in so few postions anything starts to bother you over a few hours or so.
  18. right now i got two bottles on the frame and i would ideally like to carry a CO2 bottle , tire, tools, i use a phone as an ipod , i think ill just buy a rain coat , and food. i wanted to carry a bottle of the gel stuff and mix as i need with the water and power bars they seemed to work well for me last year. those saddle bags i think will work. sounds like they hold quiet a bit thanks for the replys
  19. road cycling i got a century planned for may 2-4 and id like to increase it all year till i can do a back to back centry or 320km by years end
  20. wow so much to relpy too.ill make it quick im at work. i emailed bruce about a demo and he said he didnt have anything avail. same for a bunch of other places i contacted, i figured ill just buy from yyz, i am on a tight budget and bruces stuff is nice but out of my range, maybe next year. i got to squirrel away some cash. i would love to try a different board, but first i got get some confidence back , i went 20ft into the woods at blue. so im a bit tender on my left side.
  21. i agree with you. i think i can rule out stance because is the same on my other board and im a great deal better on it. ive just been trying to rule out possiblities. im 200 or so with all my gear on. so i dont think it could be an under/over weight for the board. i got i private lesson on it in whistler. im being proactive about it. so the next logical step to me would be the board. unless theres some different technique with GS boards
  22. its my proton im having trouble with , i love my volkl it kicks ass and takes names
  23. go with the yoda sienna. nothing but good things about them at least from the maintinance side of things, i got a few buddies who are car techs. i just wish thay whould start making the yoda land crusier diesel over here. those things just dont die. so many good diesels that just arent released here. what a shame.
  24. i would but his price is more than i want to spend. ($825 i think, plus tax) and from what ive seen and read about the metal boards, the conditions at my local mountain make me nevious about damaging the metal. they can be hit or miss.
