  1. I have been riding a pair of 700's all season and love them. I would recommend getting a variety of the springs and try them out. I have ridden both the blue/blue then progressed to blue/red and now red/red. I am 175lbs. As far as flex and forward lean the BTS allows adjustment for both. The 700's have been good from the start but do need a footbed to get them dialed in. I would say that I have average feet also.

You would love any board you get from Coiler!!

  2. First of all I am a Dave too. There are way to many Dave's that carve between Western Wyoming and Eastern Idaho! 1 @ Snowking and 2 @ Kelly. Myself and Dave B. So the rest of you will have to change.

I will be riding Kelly Canyon this weekend. The snow has been great and the crowds pretty thin. Come on over. Kelly has some very fun carving runs with rolls, double fall lines, banks and hips.(cheap tickets too) After the 15th my Targhee add on pass kicks in so I will be spending weekends up there till the end of the season. My son has a ski race at SnowKing March 22 and 23 so I will be over for that.

    Viva la Dave's

  3. I wish there was a small guy's/women's powder board built with hardboots in mind. I'm thinking 165cm, 22cm waist with 2cm of taper, or a similarly waisted swallow- or notch-tail. Big sidecut to keep it from being useless in the groomers.

Prior would make you one. I have a 23 cm waisted Prior Pow-Stick. Very nice:biggthump I am going to have a custom one made for my wife who is pretty light.

IMHO Side cut does not seem to make much of a difference in the pow with a bunch of taper. They are still very stable at speed. So a smaller radius (10m-) getting to and from the powder on a soft flexing board is very friendly and seems to work great for me.

    Thats my 2 cents...

  4. SnowKing really put on a Carving Session! It was Great to ride with ya 2Ravens!!

The boy came home with a ribbon and a series trophy! Big smiles for him!!

We forgot to get a picture of all of the carvers there so we may have to photo shop one!

Thank again for riding with me! Keep up the great work! :biggthump

  5. I picked up a 176 Prior Pow-Stick with a 23cm waist this season. I ride it with TD-2's and a 20inch stance 54/48. It feels short and playful in the tight trees, long and stable at speed, and carves very well on the groomers. It floats like a dream!

I am very impressed with this board and would highly recommend this board!

It would be hard to out design that Prior design.

    Thats my 2 cents!

  6. I would go with soft boots so that you can feel the water and have greater range of motion.

    1) No toe or heel overhang

    2) Very good wax for the conditions.

    3) Practice your jump starts - from your heel edge to board pointed down the hill. (unless there is a race type gate to start from)

    4) As little side cut as possible. You can feel the tail hooking like on a flat cat track with too much side cut. This will slow you down.

    5) A very cool and aerodynamic costume.

I bet an old super G board did work well if it had a large radius sidecut and a bit of taper.

    Good luck!

Again let us know how you do!

  7. After you get a few days on your Proto give us some feed back.

Watch your credit card billing for funky billing from tightboards. There are a lot of posts on multiple billings and not getting products from them.

The Proto looks like a very nice ride. It will be interesting to see what you think of the ultimate grip.

Looking forward for a rider review!

  8. I too spent many days riding with my son in the pack. I did ride one of my carving boards, just not very aggressively. Riding with the most precious cargo in the world on your back does keep the speed down. I was lucky enough to be at a ski area that only had 1 T-Bar, so the lift was never a problem. We did loose a pair of mittens so be sure to have a keeper string for anything that can come off.

I still chuckle when I think of him slapping me on the shoulder and helmet shouting "Faster Papa Faster!!"

Now he is 10 and ski racing. Seems to be fitting him very well. I am very proud of his lust for riding and I smile from ear to ear when I see him ride. He has not been very interested in the snowboards. I guess he wants to do something different than his parents. He did make about 7 runs on his Burton 135 Factory Prime this weekend so there is hope. I do not care if he skis or snowboards as long as he is having fun, being curtious and respectful at the ski hills.

Keep up all the good work all you parents! Your bunny hill / backpack time will not last long, but your memories will.

The first picture is from 99? and the second is from last spring 07.

  9. This is from Hellroaring Basin on Thursday. Luckily Johnasmo went in feet first.

Turner was unbelievable on Friday. 24+ inches in the AM. Top to bottom runs with no tracks till past noon. It was like a whole mountain of Good Medicine!! If you want cat / heli-skiing with out the cost watch the weather and catch Turner on a Friday!!

The tool of choice for the week was my Prior 176 Pow-Stick with a 23 cm waist. Makes hardbooting in the powder tons-o-fun!!

  10. More powder days. It is like the movie Ground Hog's Day. Simply Amazing. Last run deeper and just as fresh as the first. Quite foggy. But if ya head to the trees....Bliss!

I headed over to Turner tonight. They have 20+ inches of fresh this week that has not been ridden since Sunday.

I hope all that came to the Big had a great time. Not the best carving conditions but amazing powder all week.

A BIG Thank You to Dr.D for rallying the all of the hearty carvers!
