  1. I sit in front of a computer for long periods and have horrible posture. My left shoulder is pretty messed up. It sounds like arching my back would take care of the shoulder in the ribs as that's my main posture issue. I do try to keep that right hand following the carve by reaching forward but will try the boot trick too. I haven't heard the pinch the pencil trick but mom nature didn't give me a pencil to pinch.;). All seriousness thanks for the ideas and feed back.
  2. Ok, My brother finally got the video on you tube. I wasn't expecting the big production with intro and music, but here it is. Slam me as I already notice some things. This was the first day this season on the new board, different bindings, and the very last two runs so not super comfy with everything. I had never seen myself ride before and I can tell it will help to get more of the video thing. I have the td3's on and the cant/lift different and no more wash out but curious about what I can do better as I'm sure I've got some bad habits... I always felt like I got lower on a more consistent basis, but hey something else to work on.
  3. Looks like Roost took the hint...no longer viewing the thread.
  4. Thanks Michelle for your courteous and prompt email responses to my order and always keeping me in the loop as to the status of my order. This new product of yours is great and I'm pleased you guys took the extra time to make sure the product and all parts were to your high standards. I'm referring to the yellow rings that you sent out a notice on. Your level of customer service over the last 6-8 years has been outstanding. Have a relaxing Christmas and try to get out and ride some fresh pow or cord...
  5. My opinion is it's likely all you mentioned and the fact that it's a softer board...less work to get the pressure than on a stiffer alpine specific board. My old opinion was that you needed a really stiff board to be able to ride well on ice. After riding the Coiler Schtubby I no longer feel that way. Now my legs are MUCH less tired and I still have the pop at the end of the day as I do in the beginning...riding has really become thoroughly enjoyable again...FOR me as a result of the board.
  6. I can't speak to the Prior, but the schtubby (171/21/13.2) that I bought is by far the easiest most bad a$$ board I've ever ridden. It does everything sooooo well. I have yet to try it in powder but the ice we have in the midwest left me inspired that I could have so much confidence on ice. We had a big dump (12") on Friday and went out that night. It was the defiinition of crud and the board just plowed through it (forward and fakie). I couldn't be happier with a board. First time out I had some issues with heel side turns, but since getting my TD3's and setting them up with toe lift, heel lift, and a bit of outward cant for each that problem is gone. I'm not sure yet on if I like the big hole in the binding for quick changes. I can't see doing any on hill changes any quicker since the snow get's packed down in there. It'd be nice if there was some sort of removable plastic plugs for the other bolts as snow builds up on those too...Although most would probably lose them or being plastic they'd break.
  7. I just mounted my TD3's with 19.5" from center to center with a 3*lift (a bit of outward cant) on the front and 6* lift (little bit of outward cant) on the rear foot. I'm 6' and have a 32" inseam. I had heard the inseam is what you should go by for determining stance width. I'm just curious what people have for their inseams are and how it relates to their personal preferrance on stance width. You may recall, I had the heal side wash out issues last Friday with some F2's with 3* inward cant on a Schtubby. I'm pretty sure that was the issue. I look forward to getting out this weekend after the 8-12" we're supposed to get; although might be too much powder for serious carving? Nice thread on how just a minor change can change riding.

    Head boots 26.0

    These still available?
  9. I appreciate the feed back JJ and agree with your statement about driving the board forward. That's kind of what I've been doing in the past and what seems to be causing the issue this go around. I'm driving the boards edge forward by weight transfer and then washout if I drive it hard which I've done in the past. I don't understand the driving of the rear knee down "or backwards away from the movement". Are you saying perpendicular to the edge of the boards edge or towards tip and tail? I've seen you ride fluff (you rip) and I don't think you mean toward the edge, at least in a heel side turn as I would think that your hips and weight would be to far off the edge causing a tip. I don't know if I agree with "it is not the new gear." I'm riding a different board with an entirely different flex pattern and different stiffness's throughout the board (tip to tail), not to mention bindings (loaners) I've never ridden, so the cant/lift could be totally different than what I've been used to in the past. Just my 2 cents as I've ridden a lot of different boards and all road a bit different based on not only what I mentioned but other factors as well. No friction intended just not sure I agree. I was told that the video is on you tube if you do a search for carpenter snowboard sunburst, but I haven't found it so I'm wondering if there's a delay from when it's available for the public to see. Realize it was the last run on tired legs and I wasn't "pushing" it per se. It was also a trailing cameraman with a point and shoot still camera. I'll try to get more video over Christmas if I can bribe a cameraman. Thanks again for everyone's input. It sounds like I need to tinker a bit, which I'll do when the new bindings arrive.
  10. I have a 32" inseam. Stance is set at 19.5". Seem right? I've never been flexible so the hamstring comment is really interesting. Please elaborate?
  11. Thanks for the feed back. Driving the shoulder might have been the wrong explanation. Looking at the pictures of the toe side turns, I think I ride pretty similar. The heelside turns I have much more bend in my knees. I didn't have this issue in the past, but that's not to say I'm NOT doing something wrong with form. I'll try and post a link later today. It's my brother following me so hopefully insight can be gained. I don't want to over think this as the fun gets lost. I'm hoping it's an was shift of the bindings back toward the tail. This was the first time I saw anything on my riding so????
  12. Looking for some help. I have a new Coiler Schtubby (170/ 13.2./ 21). I had to borrow some bindings (F2's with 3* inward cant) THANKS AL. I haven't ridden with inward cant in awhile. I loved the board. It was all everyone said and more. I had a really fun night. I used to get really low on my heel side turns, however last night I would try and it seemed like I was driving the nose and it wasn't folding, but it felt like it just gave up or I would just tip over. I found when I shifted my weight to the tail it was better, but I couldn't drive my left shoulder down like I was on my toe side and like I used to in order to get low. I had my brother take some video of me on his little point and shoot camera and I hope to have a link on you tube sometime for you guys to dissect. Angles I think were around 55* both feet. Maybe it's just the stiffness in the tail isn't enough for me, but I highly doubt that as the toe sides felt like they always did (only easier) Thanks in advanced for your help. Carp

    TD1 and Burton disk

I've decided to hold on to the disks. I realized my kids have some old bindings laying around that they are probably for. I'm planning on giving the Td1 to the buyer of the Donek. Board and disk (flat) will hopefully go out soon. Check was brought to the bank tonight. Sorry for the confusion.

    TD1 and Burton disk

Check came today. I hope to get the board out friday or Saturday.
  16. Sounds good. I'll be helping my kids out much of the day but it's be fun to take a few runs with adults and the pint is always in the cards up in the snowflake lounge. My email is jcarvediem@aol.com and cell is 414-731-8400. It's a smartphone so I'm usually connected at all times. Hope to see you two thee if only for a bit.
  17. Anyone interested in riding there they'll be 2 maybe 3 of us riding. I have a really ugly green Marmot jacket (looks to be from the 80's), black pants, and hopefully riding a Stubby.
  18. Hi All, I just found sitting in the bottom of a box from our first move 1 (maybe 2) tda1 disk (I think it's flat). Also 2-4 platic burton center disks. I'll give the Burton stuff to anyone if they either want to pick it up or pay for shipping. The Td1 disk ( I think it's flat) I'll take offers starting at $5 plus buyer pays shipping or can pick it up. If you'd like pictures I'll take them and email them on request. Hope some of you have been out riding. I've got snow but nothing to ride at the moment :(. If there's no interest by end of Jan. '09 I'll likely toss the Burton stuff and use the td1 disk as a coffee coaster.
  19. Anyone carve the stubby fakie? I should have mine this week some time and hope that it does a better job riding back words than the fc did.
  20. It's looking like all is sold. I'm just waiting for a check to arrive and clear for the Donek. Thanks for everyone that showed interest and ultimately those who purchased the boards. I hope they are as fun for you as they were for me. I'll repost the Donek if something happens, but I really don't foresee it. Thanks again! My Schtubby 171 21 13.2 should be arriving this week and then it's just the TD3's. I need to order some more cants for that I think????
  21. Could you elaborate why you feel that way? I was originally going to go flat but then someone said to have toe lift in the front and heal in the rear to get a more aggressive position. Thanks, Also on my older bindings I had 3* on both front and rear. Thought more might be nice?
  22. Thanks so much for researching me. I appreciate the feedback immensely. I was getting a little freaked out while reading thru. Once to the end, well not so much. It sounds like more forgiving than the Donek. It also sounds like i should ride more forward even with feeling that I'll load the nose. Any opinions on can't/lift? I just ordered 6* front and back disks. Thanks again to all the metal heads out there.
  23. Thanks chubz, This will be my first Coiler and I'm really excited after everything I've read on them. I also hope it doesn't take long to get used to it. Thanks for everyones feedback...especially Bruce!
  24. I really hope I like it and don't have to put it up for sale. I hope it doesn't take too long to get used to. Remember fat weighs less than muscle...I'm a healthy 170 lbs in the pic ;)
  25. Anyone have the specs on this board?
