1. It is all correct, i love this feeling too, it works wery well on steeps, I like to lay it down all the way and lost some speed (talking about steeeep stuff) There is somthing really cool about laying down with the board behind you on downhill eage, it is crazy but you know it is going to work, board just going to ride around you. It is my frist rule of carving: body goes first board follow.
2. Hi I am planing to go to usasa nationals this year, play with gates. I am looking for other riders who are going as well to share acomodation and possibly transport. Is anybody interested?
3. In my opininon full helmet is very usefull only in dense woods. It is a overkill for trails. Just keep your eyes open and wait for a "break" in the people. Generaly i like to keep it pure and simple, more stuff, more gimicks will not make you carve better. Forget body armors, motocrosshelmets,mp3 players, heated boots and gloves, tosters, washing mashines ect It will make you heavy, slow you down and limit your movements. Also it make us (carvers) looking like bunch of freaks. Nothing look more sad then hardbooter in full body armor and helmets, skidding.
4. This is lovley video but it is not forest riding, this is mostly open space with few trees on it.
5. Hi What should i register, open on my category? (masters, unfortunatly) Or should i do bouth? Thanks
6. wavechaser thanks so much for such a nice welcoming, i know it will be a lot of fun. I will be in winham instructor atrocius looking blue jacket, please say hi when you see me. thanks
7. Great Would be great to learn something from real players. All races i did before were way too easy. I carve most of my live, got to racing just recently.
8. HI I am considering nationals this year. <O:p</O:p It looks like i already qualified in masters in slalom (Catskills region), there was not much competition.<O:p</O:p And i am hoping to qualify in GS as well (one more race to go) <O:p</O:p Can i start in open class in national as well? or do I need to qualify in my region? <O:p</O:p I am going to Bromly this weekend to see if i am actually good enough to go to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comColorado</ST1:p<O:p</O:p I am kind of new to racing but open to meet new people and to have some fun and learn. <O:p What should I expect in Bromley?<O:p <O:p Thanks <O:p
9. I have been riding trees in killington last year quite a lot. two techniques not cover yet 1 rolling forward, when it is too dense to go thru or when you about to stuck, just dive do few rolls and then recover 2 in vermont there are a lot of dense little sticks comming from the ground, dont be afraid to go thru them usualy they will give, but watch your board it can get stuck, low position and more speed recomended 3 holding to the trees on tight turns, as someone mention before, vry effctive ALWAYS use helmet goggles and face mask body armor is not bad idea as well
10. poland i grow up riding polish mountains and alps, sorry for my skechy english but i just dont care anymore.
11. Hi I ride bouth hard and soft. There are four reasons i ride soft: 1 powder. 2 trying jumps and tricks in the park (decided to be more diverse this year) 3 teaching (i teach beginers, so there is a lot of walking pluse my students can relate better to what i show) 4 carving, i use soft boots on my tanker just to demonstrate that proper carving turn is posible in soft boots, also i can do extreme carving in ideal condition on my soft setup. All just to make a point how bad current popular soft snowboard technique is. Granted i use more agresive stence to eliminate toe drag and improve my hillside, somthing like 35/30 it is almost the same, snowboard is snowboard. soft boots are just less convinient on ice (more difficult to generate enough presure)
12. Yes it was me, i am teaching at windham. I wanted to teach (carving soft or hard boots) but no customers, so i am teaching beginners who never seen the snow before. Sunday was good great snow i ran few nastar gates and it was fun, (i am going to try to race next weekend probably belleayre if they will still have this event) i tougt two classes afternoon and did some night riding, but on soft setup.(jumps) Giver me a ring next time you are in windham so we can ride together (no classes between 8 to 10 am ) Przemek
13. It is accualy very easy if you find right terrain, steep hill that flattens and then turn up. kind of natural, moderate "half pipe" if you try in the right place it is piece of cake, anybody can do this.
14. Come to windham, i will be there from this weekend till new years.
15. I just started to teach in small local mountain in catskills ny.<O:p</O:p My boss is very excited about alpine ability in his school, we try to advertise and get some individual classes for extreme carving. <O:p</O:p I can teach on soft and hard setups, as a matter of fact I was riding most of the last Saturday on my tanker 175 in soft boots just to figure it out.<O:p</O:p It was not bad I could lay it down as much as on hard boots except steeps and ice (it was more difficult to hold heel side turns) <O:p</O:p I didn’t teach beginners yet but nobody seems to be too concern about hard boots or angles.<O:p</O:p From student perspective I can imagine it would be better to understand if instructor has similar set up to them. <O:p</O:p That’s why there is only one set up requirements for my carving class steeper angles and no boot drag<O:p</O:p
16. I prefer big radius, way beter for EC, my swoard is around 13 if i recall it right, but on east coast weekend it is more of AM game. I tend to swich to renn tiger or tanker depend on condition, for PM. Advantage of big radius board is that you go faster and you have more time to go really low on the turn. Small radius does not really work that way but it can be a lot of fun for different kind of riding for exemple if you need to deal with small bumps, ice and random people on the slope.
17. Hi I am swoard beliver, i bought mine from Fin it was a demo and i feel like it was worth every penny i spent. So much joy. I think it is 1 or 2 nd gen. I have to say for very icy and more bumpy i would go to my renn tiger. but for more open groomers there is nothing like swoard. I will try to get to zinal this winter so maybe i can demo 3 gen. Hi Swiss carvers Thanks so much for bringing width to the carving boards, it made all the difference.
18. I am going to windham this weekend and next. I you guys are around would be good to carve together, i will be teaching as well so if you looking for carving clases give me a call 917 3316615 (it will be a good deal i promise) Windham is not bad mountain they have decent terain and not to crowded yet, snow is good too.
19. Hi I just started teaching and it is important that they will understend that there could be need for carving classes (soft and hard) I dont care if i make more $$$$ just want to establish myself so i will not teach beginners. I would like to find people who would book one hour carving class but i would give them 2 or 3 (i need to practice my teaching at this point) The goal is to establish carving comunity, create intrest in carving, and racing. Dave Thanks for offer to crach in Albany but it looks like i found a place in catskills. We should ride together some time. What is you home mountain?
20. Hi I am going to teach snowbording (beginers and carving; soft boots and hard) In windham, so it is going to be my home mountain for this season. I am going this sat, anybody wants a ride from city? give me a call (917 331 6615) I am also interested in finding inexpensive place to stay for few weekends. I will be driving back and forward but some times would be nice to stay. Also if you interested in cheep clasess, I need to figure out my teaching technique (you pay one hour and get three) Przemek
21. hi Have fun in K mart this weekend. It was my home mountain last sesson. Hope superstar is open. The best carving trail. Talkt to you in Jan.
22. David and Jrobb very very helpful thanks so much. Bobby, i will see you on ECES i hope. Dudedude,i am not sure what days, weekends most likely, going there this sat (one day trip) if you looking for a very discunted lessons just come along, (i need someone to practice my teaching) give me a ring 917 3316615 if you want to go. Przemek
23. This is very interesting conversation. Looks like i am going to teach this year but i really want to teach more carving classes then beginners. I was thinking that by showing dynamic good carve on soft setup i can create more interest (potential customers). General public thinks that hardboots are somewhat different sport; they are not taking us seriously because we are too different. When you carve in soft they have no choice, just have to relate. Overall goal is to teach how to turn correctly (carve) not to prove that hard is better that soft. Anyway this is something i need to play with this year. Does anybody have recommendation for the best soft bindings for carving? I am going to try soft on my tanker.<O:p</O:p <O:p As far as beginners go i will use soft gear with duck stance (that's how they set rentals) just to be easier to understand. it is my first year so i want to reduce all risk of confusion
