  1. These are cool however not fully carved last part of circle is kinda not on the edge. I did full carved circles but only on the proper/special terrain, down hill that turn into uphill, sort of the valey. Maybe it would work on flat terrain as well if you have enough of speed. I was never able to pull it of on regular slope. (i mean 360 at a full carve )
  2. Wwhole point of doing yoga is that you will build flexybility little by little. I thought i was the least flexable person on earth but just after few classes i felt a diffrence. Nice think about yoga is that nobody will make fun of you, unlike your coach.
  3. hmmmm never have problem with that issue. But when i think about this: i tend not to sit on flats, i buckle my bindings while standing. I would sugest middle level yoga twice a week. You can develope more stomac muscle strenght and flexibility It will also make easier to do few things on the board (like a frontside edge grab while carving or even backside edge grab) and will protect you from injuries.
  4. I am defintly going to be there Sunday. Not sure about Sat. probably not See you there.
  5. Killington had tons of moguls becouse there was a lot of soft fresh snow on thrusday 2 feet and then on sunday 8 inches. Even when it is groomed in the morning, surface is too soft to stay flat, as the skidding skiers and sideways softies going downhill all day like a pregnant pengwins. There are two things you could do to carve this conditions : 1 get up very early they open K1 gondola at 7 30, you will be able ride groomed slopes at least till 11 2 Get really good at riding ice; SuperStar is so icy and windblown that new snow does not want to stick to it. Even on soft day you can carve white ice around 3 30 when all new snow is gone. I know it sounds crazy but it is true. Double dipper next to canyon lift has similar qualities. I went to Killington last weekend and was quite good i did a lot of carving and a lot of powder. Espacially Monday was great for carving.
  6. Feels like it would be much easier to learn how to carve on hard boots and then go to soft .... It is much more chalenging to do this other way. Problem is that most of the people are not willing to invest in HB setup. Last weekend there was a softie who after watching me on Outer Limits in Killington ask me how he could ride like that. I answer him it was imposible to do this on soft setup on this slope (icy, narrow, steep) but he should try to change his angles and try blue slope. He definitly lost his enthusiasm after hearing this. Kind of unfortunate.............................. but maybe not, it is kind of nice to be unique.
  7. Hi I am thinking to join your party, even brought my boards from my ski house in VT. But there are few factors involved (my wife plans for next weekend and work obligations) Also i have few questions: Are there any good steeps in windham? Are you guys going to carve some more chalenging tereain or just blues? Are we going to have few beers after or in beetween? If i need to pick one day should it be sat or sun? How much is the lift and is there any way to get discount? Would be great to carve in big formations!!!!
  8. d-sub yes i need a rockboard, for mom and pop i ment small family own (good thing) didn't mean to insult anyone. Plus i dont know a lot about freeride equipment as you have proven before. Thanks
  9. nicely said i am with you 100% where is Upper Ramrod?
  10. well it looks like a nice 'mom and pop" brand. It was hard to find more informations about they boards so i am not sure what make them carve better then other board. Also i dont think i could buy it under 80$ But thanks for recomendations. In the endof the day i am looking for powder and rock tool and not carving tool. Of course would be nice to have one board perfect all the time but it is just a dream.
  11. I have been carving since 95 and i have to say that blue are way too boring for me now. I only carve blacks. But as i am remember correctly i was starting on moderate blues. You need some speed to feel it. A lot of beginner greens are too flat. IMHO
  12. Aha so it is smaller. Does radius metter when you in powder ? from my experience not so much.
  13. No it was not a typo it was my ignorance, I didnt check specs for freeride board i just took speck from my swoard witch i think would be a perfect freeride board if softer, rounded tail and bit wider. My appologies. I was just thinking that board like that would be perfect all around board: carving on blue slopes and powder. Pluse it would be great if you could adjust binding angle on the slope (without screwdriver) Like a preprogram two positions carve and powder. What is tipical radius for freeride and why?
  14. I am looking for longer freeride around 160 to 170, relativly wide, radius around 14 m, under 80$. Do you have anything like that? I could potentially treaded it for Jester 167 carving board.
  15. Hi Thanks for constructive comments. I will definetly try hard boots on freeride board. I just need to find appropriate board (cheep and used) i want to have somthing disposable so i could go on powder mix with rock and wood. My curent soft freestyle board is just too small. Going the other way (soft boots for carving) is not an option, would never work on east cost ice. Thanks again
  16. Hi I am looking for advice. Currently I am using HB for carving and SB for backcountry, but to be honest i feel it is too commplicated and take too much time and effort change and it is pain in the ass to travel with extra boots. Here is my question: can hardboots work ok in powder for freeride. If yes what kind of board do you use for this? Do you lower angles in HB setup for powder? Thanks
  17. Hi I would love to it is my home mountain i ride it every weekend, but unfortunalty i am going to Europe for next two weeks (Poland and they riding in Itally) Outher limit is open and groomed (according to they website)...... nice Do some turns for me. Maybe we can hook up the other time when i come back I am planing be ther for president day weekend
  18. I agree carving is possible on any board and any setup. On softies you should try early morning and avoid icy slopes. That is when really you can feel difference ; the ice. I am considering myself a skilled carver and i ride both soft and hard but when there is ice (there is almost always ice on east coast especialy afternoon) carving on soft boots is vastly compromised. Hard boots with proper board and technique can cut thru ice like a knive. I think here comes a big diffrence in opinions between east and west cost. West cost people think you can carve almost the same on soft as on hard. Sure but on the snow.
  19. I like this one, going to try it soon.
  20. Hi Barry I did not say that all softies should be riding alpine.(accualy i kind of like being unique) It just would be nice if mainstream madia/softbooters could focus a little more on technique. Most of avarage softborders spend most of the time on trails anyway (i am on east coast) It simply makes sense to do well what you do the most. For exemple, I am always riding with my skiing friends and all they talk about is technique and they really focusing on improvment. Somehow i dont think this is a case for softbooter mainstream. They are trails for beginers and there are trails for more advance. Thats why we have a little color system. Idiots who are riding terrain to difficult for they skills set are deserve to take get some ****.
  21. Barry you are right, there are tons of awsome riders doing amazing stuff great aerials and pipe , I will not even get close to they level. But i do hate idiots riding sideway all the way down ruining snow for all of us. Arent you ashamed for fellow snowboarders sucking so bad? Why do they come to steep, black trail to do this, insted of practicing on green? There is somthing annoing in the softboots world on the recreationa/beginer level, most of them dont give a **** about technique. <O:p Reason for this is: they using wrong tool for the job because they where brainwash by mainstream snowboard marketing. <O:p Again all my respect for good soft riders.
  22. i dont hate anybody (except morans going sideways all the way, scraping snow on the black trail insted of learning on green), it is all cool, personally i use soft set up for powder. My point is: soft snowboard has become an excuse for bad technique; avarege snowborder makes lousy skidding turns and nothing more.(most of them thinks they are carving :) ) Skiers are much more selfaware and more focus on technique, I would say that avarage skier is much better then avarage snowborder.(at least better to look at). Snowboarding industry is a one to blame, big jumps, powder runs and "cool" duds are in voque, nobody is focusing on proper turning on the slope. It is too boring I quess. Anyway maybe it is good it makes us more unique.
  23. Softboots is a license to suck. Dont get me wrong i have a lot of respect for kids who actually can jump, pipe or ride well. But unfortunatly most of the softborders SUCK, ride sideways scraping snow out of the mountain. I guess that why they switch from skiing, it does not matter if you ride sideways or skid turns you "cool" becouse you on the snowboard. LICENSE TO SUCK i have soft rig as well i use it for powder, forest and rocks.
  24. Interesting..... , superstar is not perfect has this long flat in the middle but lower section is good enough to really carve. There are also good width of the trail and fast quadruple lift (good ski/mile dollar value) Also has a good "hero factor" If you ask me it could be steeper. still think it is steeper then anything in okemo, stratton and south VT. I never had a chance to carve ovation (last time it was open it was 2 seson ago) but it looks nice. Outer limit is very nice but has a slow lift.
  25. Love steeps, carving blue trails are boring, My favorite trails in Killington are Lower superstar, cascade, east fall and outer limits (when is groomed) actually this is a reason i go to Killington, Stratton and Okimo are just too mellow. The biggest problem with steeps are the "penguins" ; when it gets a bit more icy and bumpy they tend to stop right in the middle or slowly and pathetically There should be a rule against this kind of behavior. Ski patrol should revoke ski passes for failing to pick up therein appropriate to the skill levels.
