  1. Didn't mean to offend Phil! Yes, I guess some wore neon into the mid 90's. :o Either way, pull it out and put it on for fun!
  2. I was actually trying to get on the lift w/this guy, so could chat w/him. Didn't work out though. I highly doubt that his bindings were mounted duck foot as a gag (pretty scary) There were lots of one-piece, neon outfits this weekend. The Open brings them all to the surface! Which brings me to my next idea: 80's day at Stratton on 4/2. We know that we all have neon in the back of our closets!! Get it out and lets rip it up 80's style. Who's in?????
  3. I could not resist posting this!! This past weekend was the US Open at Stratton, and usually brings out some characters. So, I'm standing in the lift line, and out of the corner of my eye, I notice a guy 2 lines over dressed in lots of neon attire. I look down at his feet and notice a pair of Burton Shadows. I look down to see the board and couldn't make out the model, but it was definately an 80's circa Burton board. Then I looked at the bindings, Burton rat traps I believe. Here's the best part...the bindings were mounted DUCK FOOT! Yeah, that's right DUCK FOOT:eek: Can you say knee injury. I was laughing so hard, I'm sure this guy heard me. I tried to pull my eyes away, but couldn't. I really wanted to say something, but wasn't sure what to say at all really. What do you say to someone like this??? I had to share this story.
  4. Allen, Are you on the East Coast? You mentioned riding at Mount Snow, so I'm assuming that you are. Check out the post for the Okemo carving weekend March 10-13. There may be some equipment there for demos, which will allow you to ride some boards and feel the difference before making the plunge. Also, if you do decide to attend Okemo, try to hook up with PSR (Eric Brammer). He can definately give you the help needed to get you off to a good start. Finally, don't forget to check out the Classified's section: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/forumdisplay.php?forumid=3 There is some good gear for cheap. Good Luck!
  5. Bricky, If Okemo needs to have all $$ in 48 hours before the 9th in order to get group discounts, when do you need $$ by? I'd love to sneak in there on friday.
  6. Cheri and I were both out on Madds both Saturday and Sunday. We had way too much fun! Sorry I missed you guys last weekend. We did runs on Kidderbrook, Down Easter (top and bottom), Drifter (was absolutely unbelievable on Sunday), Liftline. We were everywhere. No crowds on Sunday, or maybe we just managed to stay away from them. We can only pray that conditions stay that good!
  7. I must have missed everyone this weekend! Oh well, I guess the expression is true "no friends on powder days". I was out both Saturday and Sunday, and all I can say is "phenomenal". I rode my Madd 158. Thought the chop might be tough, but it barrelled through everything. What an awesome weekend! I'm still grinning ear to ear.
  8. Be a versatile rider! Just because conditions are not perfect cordoroy shouldn't mean that you can't ride them. Take out the one board you are most comfortable on and have fun. It's truly amazing to rip on cordoroy and hard pack, but even better when the conditions are not quite that and you can still hang with the non-carving crowd.
  9. This board is phat and fat!! It definately took a good run to get used to the width of this board, but man it held an edge like the 158 I usually ride. I rode it with my regular stance angles 60/57. I loved it, but it is definately too much board for me (and I'm not a weakling)! I agree with Shred on making a smaller waist width, maybe a 22 or 21mm even. There is definate lag time on edge transfer, but once that sucker is on edge, holy crap it holds:D It could be that my legs were a wee tired by that point, but maybe this board could be a hair more damp. This could be the one and the only board that you need!
  10. I've got a 163 Donek FC1 that I'm willing to part with. Its only been ridden about 10 times, and it's in mint condition. I bought it in 2001. If you're interested, send me an email at stephanie@casualracing.com
  11. Pilates (core strengthening and balance). Plus, slalom skateboarding.
  12. I know this is not the classified section, but I've got a Burton PJ6 that's collecting dust in my basement. Make me an offer and it's yours!
  13. Hey Allee! I think the Women's Carve Session brought good luck to Stratton. It dumped a good 15" last weekend, and has been continuously snowing through the week. This weekend will ROCK! Maybe you should come visit again:cool:
  14. not this wife either. I've got more board than my husband:D
  15. Well, we had the best riding conditions all winter so far. 12+ inches of new snow between thursday and saturday made for some great riding conditions. A big thank you goes out to all of the ladies that came out to ride: Allison, Christina, Kathy, Lauren, Patrice, Amy, Cheri. It was good times!! It was great meeting all of you, and hopefully it wasn't the last time I'll see you on the hill. An even bigger thanks goes out to Cheri and Shaggy for being such fine hosts!! Old Clothes was a winner:D:D Also want to thank Eric Brammer/PSR for spending some quality time riding w/us. As always you provided some great tips and helpful feedback. You Rock Eric!! Finally, thank you Paul Kobe for putting up w/lots of razzing from us chicks. You truley were ordered up for entertainment, and you rose to the occasion. Let's definately do this again! FYI, I'll try to get some pictures up very soon. Stay tuned...
  16. So sorry for your loss Fin! Big Baloo was beautiful. Alex posted up our lost loved one earlier, but here is a picture of the alive and kickin' crew. The little one (Iko) is a punk of the worst kind
  17. They got some snow, and they've been blowing lots. The holiday crowd are abusing the mountain right now, but by next thursday they should be in great shape. They are about 75% open. Winter needs to hit the East Coast in full force!
  18. Ok - I'm typing this one last time. If anyone has not responded to me yet, and wants to attend, please email me by this friday, December 30th. I have to submit attendee lists to the mountain this weekend to enable you to receive discounts on lift tickets. 2 weeks to go :D
  19. To everyone that has responded as coming. I sent an email on Wednesday the 23rd. Please email me if you did not receive it, and I will re-send to you.
  20. Hi Kathy! I have a pair of Head Stratos, 25.5. I don't have a small foot, but the boots fit a women's leg a little better than the Raichle's, as they don't come up so high on the calf. I think they are much softer than Raichle's (Deeluxe) too.
  21. Girls, if I had that much control over the weather, I'd have my own mountain that would be strictly devoted to carving!!! But hey, at least we can finally boast that there is snow on the mountain. That's right ladies, winter has arrived! It took a bit longer than usually, but the snow is falling now. 3 weeks and counting.....:D
  22. Hi ladies, Many of you are going to need to find lodging at Stratton or surrounding area. If I have your permission, I would be happy to list your names and contact info in the email I'll send next week, so you can all contact each other and figure out accomodations. Will that work?
  23. Hey Allee, Albany airport is probably the closest airport. If you think you can make it, please send me an email w/your contact info (name and email) and I'll make sure to get you on the list for cheap lift tickets. My email is stephanie@casualracing.com. FYI ladies - I will be sending out an email to all of you that have responded to me directly w/your contact info. So, if you haven't responded to me yet, please do so. I want to get everyone some event details, and also try to get you all hooked up w/one another if you'd like to team up on hotel. Probably the best thing I can say at this moment is that it's been snowing at Stratton since sunday night, and they are blowing like crazy. By the time January 6th gets here, the riding should be great! :)
  24. Hey alpinegirl, As far as scope of skill level, I think there will be a good range of abilities. You should not worry at all about being embarassed for your skill level. The whole point of this event is to help each other get to a higher level:) As for Stratton being larger than you're used to, also not a concern. It's not a steep mountain by any means. It has a few good trails w/good pitch. Plenty of beginner and intermediate playgrounds though. I personally promise that there is something there for everyone (wow, is that a risky comment?) You will be fine! Also, wanted to mention to everyone that a few of the major board manufacturers have been contacted about possible demo equipment. We should have a few things to try out. They seemed very interested in this event. A new, untapped market for them maybe? Either way, we have their support, and maybe some boards. Again, if you haven't sent me an email to respond, please do so soon!
  25. So the location and dates have been set, and I really want this post to stay on the first page of the community. There are about 10 of you that have said you're definately coming. I'd really like to have a head count by December 30th at the latest. Please remember that I'm trying to secure tickets for everyone that wants to come (ladies). For the girls that are coming, can't wait to ride with you all. I'm really looking forward to this
