carvedog
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032113/ You have to find the link to click on the "Week in pictures" and the first shot is awesome. Looks like she should be on a board. They identify her as Laurie Stephens of the US. Just thought it was a cool shot. Hope they leave it up for a few days. BobD
Give the girl a vote. Nothing should ve beating that shot, except the sled dogs and only then because I like huskys. BobD
Crashtopher
That is so unbelievably awesome.
ar(angel
it's amazing to see how little contact she actually has with the snow and is still able to continue on. While watching the Olympics I loved the slow-mo shots of the downhill skiers and how it showed the flexing and bouncing of their ski's as they railed down the hill at break-neck speeds. No lack of intestinal fortitude here.... Paul
Bricky
Find it in the spot above. Looks like the easiest way to copy it is with a "printscreen" type of program. Bricky
patmoore
Good suggestion Bricky. I'd hate to lose access to this shot so I captured it.
Neil Gendzwill
Looks like she lost her edge - did she recover by pushing up with the hand-ski (or whatever they call that thing)?
patmoore
It might be called an Outrigger. I'm guessing she had already finished (and won) the race and was just sliding through the finish line?
cb200
Here is a crappy screen capture from a video. These Paralympians rip!! I'll dig up a race clip I have where the guy unweights from gate to gate catching air as the ski decambers.
cb200
Here is a hacked together sequence from some video of a sit ski rockin the gates.

surfinsmiley
They actually had an interview with the guy that first came up with the idea for those suspension chairs on the TV a few nights ago. I forget how much money they spent on development but it was really really large amounts of cash. Apparently it was a world first, a three dimensional suspension system and it works so well that F1 has bought the rights to use the idea in F1 cars:eek: Anyway, as we can see it lets you rip:biggthump Fantastic stuff. Cindy Kleh
Laurie Stephens is the fastest woman mono-skier in the world right now. It's her first paralympics and she has two golds and a silver with one event to go the last I heard. She won the downhill by 3 seconds! She trains at Winter Park, NSCD.
