skategoat
Have you seen how ugly the USA team gear is for Torino? Feast your eyes: http://www.roots-direct.com/dept.aspx?WT.svl=10&dptid=10 Kinda reminds me of my Adidas gym bag from Grade 9. Maybe the Canadian-based Roots company is trying to psych job on the US Team.

Neil Gendzwill
Oddly enough, the Canadian team ditched Roots this year and is going with Hudson's Bay, originally the ultimate Canadian company but now US-owned. Our outfits are uninspiring - red parkas, basically.
bartron
Roots was actually started by two Americans who moved to Canada because they saw more business opportunity here. I believe they still run the company today. As for the Canadian stuff being, well, it's because HBC went asked the athletes what they wanted. Athletes aren't known for their creativity. :) At least the Canadian stuff is excels in functionality. I don't know if you've checked out any of it, but it's quite technical. But I agree, the style is rather uninspired. As for the U.S. designs, I don't suppose it was done to ride the 70s-athletic wave that's currently flowing through our culture due to the release of the movie Munich.

skatha
I was thinking the "USA" script was groovy 70's style.... Love to see Bode in the Torino Beret.....(see accessories)
Neil Gendzwill
Nice to see a little Canadian flavour still in there - note it's a "toque", not a "wool hat".
Sinecure
That 70's looking gear is ugly. Too bad for the team. Lousy souvenirs. How about this item from Reliable Racing though. MORE COWBELL!!!
bartron
How about this item from Reliable Racing though. MORE COWBELL!!! I thought those things were only available in Switzerland.
Gleb
I heard that it is now mandatory to grow out afros or handle bar mustaches and wear platforms while recieving medals.
skatha
To answer my own question-Bode did NOT wear his beret at the opening ceremonies last night
D-Sub
love the fact that you can get that vest for the low low price of $198! rockin!
Guest Svelt
Now that I've had the chance to see some of this gear on....it actually doesn't look too bad. They had a shot of Ohno in one of the shirts and another person in the vests and once on they look pretty good. A lot better than the shiny stuff some other countries got going on...or the plain jane style.
