FTA2R
hi, need to move heels to new boots...I don't want to break anything so figured i'd ask before applying more force. i'm supposed to just push the cable back through the hole to release the heel, right? not sure how i got it in, b/c the (shielded) cable seems too thick to be pushed through....maybe I just need to push harder? dredman
You are correct. Some times the end of the cable sleeve frays and makes it challenging to remove. Good luck!
Pat Donnelly
Side note, wrap some Teflon tape on your heel screws and/or change out to stainless steel M5 x 20mm (hex head) bolts. Had a corrosion issue as they usually apply salt in the parking lot where I ride. Broke two drill bits as I had to drill out a couple of screw/t-nuts. Be careful not to over tighten the hex head bolts as you can apply more torque vs a Philips head.
Wolf
3 hours ago, Pat Donnelly said: wrap some Teflon tape on your heel screws and/or change out to stainless steel I haven't taken those precautions, but I do back off the screws and re-tighten a couple of times per season to keep them from corroding solid. I started doing that after having the same issue of having to drill out a screw in the past. I've also found that the screws sometimes back off on their own so it's good to check them anyway. On the cable being stuck, maybe pull the plastic sole plate out of the boot (if there is one) to better see if anything is causing the cable sheath from moving.
